View Full Version : World's Worst Sequel

STTCT

What sequel did you think SuCKEd big Time. That should have NEVER been made...

maybe it was for a movie you ABSOLUTELY LOVED and Anticipated the sequel for years and the sequel was SO BAD it scarred you for life.

I think the sequel that was the biggest dissapointment for me was...Jurassic Park 2 The lost World.

I loved the first Jurassic Park. I was a big fan of dinosaurs when I was younger...and this film was so entertaining for me. I read the book, bought the SNES video Game...You name it. In anticipation for the second Movie I read The Lost World and very much looked forward to the next movie. I bought tickets for the sneak preview and went to go see JP2 the Lost World.

AHHH!!! I ripped all my hair out, thru my Reeces Pieces at the screen and burned my copy of The Lost World. (j.k). It was a HUGE dissapointment. What was up with the black little girl that was supposed to be Malcolms child...who uses Gymnastics to save her from the VELICORaptors. WTF? Aside from the fact that this movie had maybe one memorable charector from the first, which I really liked those charectors from the first movie!! I hated the fact that this movie really went NO WHERE and that the movie ended like some sorta Godzirra movie. It got so corn ball that when the mommy dinosaur and the baby dinosaur started to hug eachother I felt like I was watching Animal Planet meets Lifetime for Women. This was a HUGE Insult to me.

then they made...Jp 3...which was okay....

but now they are talking about JP 4??!?!?!

JUST LEAVE IT ALONE PEOPLE!!! GAWD!!

Money grubbing whores.

Star Trek V

Of course, it was an odd numbered ST movie, so I didn't have much hope to begin with. I'm just happy they chose not to leave it there and made "The Undiscovered Country" afterwards, which almost made up for it.

I'll have you know that those were VELOCIraptors, ma'am.

Any movie with Sam Neill is a good movie.

I agree ;)

most disappointing sequel is Godfather 3, it was a good film but it pales into utter insignificance compared to the first 2.

Men In Black II.

Dear God, I wish I had a time machine so I can go back and shoot whoever thought of that idea in the head.

I would have to say after much thought, that Jaws: The Revenge is by far the worst sequal I have ever seen. It plays on the premise, that a family of sharks that have been slayed by the Brody family, is after the family itself. Shark's do not have intellect, so what a stupid premise that was. And (I don't even care if I spoil this, because nobody should have to endure this movie, but the scene where the shark practically stands up out of the water on it's tail fin only to be impaled by the bow of the ship, has got to be one of the biggest blunders in Hollywood ever.

I would have to agree with STTCT on Jurassic Park II I was very exited about the movie and could not wait to see it, but the scenes were so freaking over the top, that you almost had to laugh at them. I can always tell, (so can most of my family, and my girlfreind) that I am hating a movie, when I start looking at my watch, looking around at the interior of the theater, and looking back at the projectionist (as if it were his/her fault the movie sucks) The parts that bugged me the most in that film, were the most pivotal parts. There is a scene where a van, a dinosaur, and all the main characters are dangling from a cliff, at which point I just said out loud, "yeah right!". Then the scene with that little girl swinging on the bar and kicking a Raptor in the head was too stupid too even except. I was very exited about this movie coming out, but left in discust. In fact, I was so discusted, that I purposely skipped over Jurassic Park III. I finally, after a great deal of persuasion decided to rent the DVD, and was very entertained by it. Jurassic Park II, contained alot of what made the first movie so fun. And that movie, is the first movie since Scary Movie, the only film that made the ring of a cell phone seem scary. However, I do feel they need to quit making Jurassic Park movies and try to think of something else instead.

The Blues Brothers 2000. Damn, they should have left well enough alone with that one. Belushi must've rolled over in his grave.

Now the original Blues Brothers... THAT'S a classic!

Some cool BB quotes:

I'll have four fried chickens, and a Coke. - Jake
And some dry white toast, please. - Elwood

Jake: "How much for the little girl? The women, how much for the women?" Restaurant patron: "What?" Jake: " Your women, I want to buy your women. The little girl, your daughters. Sell them to me. Sell me your childrens!"

It's a 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. - Elwood

Men in Black II, was bad. So was JPII. And Jaws: Revenge. Ihave to agree with people who said those. They all sucked.

Another thing about JPII that I hated...they killed Eddie!! That was so stupid.

I have one movie that I can't even believe they made in the first place, let alone make a sequel, but it's not coming into my head....

If we can, how about discuss some other ordinary movie types - like worst book to movie conversion, or TV series to movie, or even better, worst remake......

How about Predator 2 - doesn't even have Ah-nult in it. There are a few like that when the sequel fails to get the original actors back...

I think my least favourite sequel ever would have to be... The Return of Jafar o.o

*shudders at the now distant memory*

Aladdin was good, but they made a horrid mess of RoJ... Although I do own the video, frighteningly enough O.O

...And I quite liked MIIB, even though it wasn't nearly as good as the first ^_^Posted by C'jais

What? :oYou mean you watched the first one, and thought it was good?!?

And you have the cheek to practically accuse me of actively looking for innuendo in your posts, when all the time you're coming out with stuff like this! :p

Speed 2 and JP 2!

JP was an awsome movie and still is. I looked forward to the sequal and I got dissappointed big time. Then they made a 3rd one and its so much better than number 2.
I have mixed feelings about a 4th one, but it can only be better than the second one!

I'm not even gonna comment Speed 2!

Lethal Weapon 4.

I liked the first 3...although even the third was a bit strained at times.

But LW4 was a steaming pile of bantha poodoo.

Alien 3. A complete and utter disappointment, considering Aliens had been such a great sequel to Alien. And then someone thought making Alien 4 was a good idea too. Um...Newborn? Um...NO!

:barf:

I have to agree about MIB 2 as well.

I agree that sometimes they should just leave a franchise alone. If you can make a great sequel, then fine, go and do it. But if you're just trying to cash in on some perceived fan base, then leave it well alone.

Another bad sequal was Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom (my *GOD* that lady was obnoxious!).

They recovered very well with IJ: The Last Crusade, however.

Oh... and let us not forget the Highlander sequal that featured the immortals as actually being aliens from the planet Zeist and MacLeod as the guy responsible for global environmental damage/salvation.

I think I was the MOST disappointed as I've ever been leaving the theater (theatre to you British chaps).

Highlander 2.... Bah.

Actually it's Cinema, but its ok.

Ok one of the worse sequels I can think of is.... Actually I can't think of any that haven't been said

hmmm, Although I haven't seen any, and don't care much for the originals.

DISNEY SEQUALS are the worst EVER!

(Although I've never seen one :p)

Every Disney sequel!

They are all the opposite of the original is seems!

Lion King:

Simba wants to be King - Kiara doesn't

Lady and the Tramp:

Tramp wants to become a house dog - his son doesn't

Little Mermaid:

Arial (I think... ) wants to be on land - Her daughter wants to be a mermaid...

Toy Story-

Woody gets Buzz to realize he is a toy - Buzz gets Woody to realize he is a toy

Toy Story 2 is good, though!

In conclusion.... JP2. JP3 was good, IMHO.

And ToD did not suck! It is just not as good as the other Indy movies. How dare you make such outrageous claims

yeah ok it's nowhere near as good as ROTLA & TLC

but still, it's indy!

and there are some very good scenes in it.
the mine cart ride.
at the begining when indy's chasing the antidote in a sea of balloons to a musical number... how could you not like that? how?

like i said, nowhere near as good as the other two, you're right about that. but a 'world's worst sequel' it isn't

Augh!!!! I cannot believe you didn't like Temple of Doom!! Blasphemy!!!!!!!

All the Indy Jones movies are treasures!!! Short-Round was in Temple of Doom!! And probably the greatest Indy quote EVER!!

"Fortune and glory kid, fortune and glory"

Although I MUST agree with you on Blues Brothers 2000 SkinWalker.

The original Blues Brothers is one of the greatest movies of all time in my book, and they should have left it alone. Instead, they try and replace Jake, and Elwood is FAT!!! He is supposed to be a skinny tall dude. Damn you Dan Aykroyd!!

The jokes were bad, and that annoying little kid was bad. The music was the only good thing about it......

Pah! Austin Powers 2 has more rewatchability than Goldmember, IMHO, even though Goldmember has hilarious jokes :D :p :D

So very very true. I have shut out Rocky 5 from all memory (or at least attempted to until discussed) and decided that it never really existed. Same with the TV series that ended with North and South Book III (if I believe hard enough, it never really happened and it ended with Book II)

:headbump: Realized that North and South references show my age.

Okay.. Okay .... Okay!

I retract what I said about IJ:ToD!

I must admit, there were some memorable lines and scenes... and the mine-cart ride is classic. In fact, I had a college professor for Chemistry whose name was Dr. Jones... EVERY SINGLE CLASS i was in, all I could hear was Short Round saying, "you very funny guy, Dr. Jones!"

It still wasn't as good as the other two, however.

I'm just glad that the thread isn't about "bad prequals!

Actually, I thought Halloween I and II went very well together. If you watch H2 directly after H1 it's basically like watching one long movie. Whoever thought up H3 should have been given a brand new shiny brain - one that actually works.

I also agree with ACDCFanBill...I liked Predator 2 just as much as Predator 1. 'Twas a worthy sequel, methinks. :)

Anyway...here's another...

American Werewolf In Paris. Erm...no. The first one worked (it had the right mix of horror/humour)...the second one didn't.

I thought I knew what they looked like from the last movie, but then again...............!!!
If you don't avoid the hype, then that's your problem. I learnt ages ago not to expect anything from a lot of things, movies one of them. If you go in expecting nothing, then if it is better than nothing you will be pleased.......

You haven't seen it, but you are bad mouthing it? A bit rich personally. I think a lot of people fail to understand it, which is why they seem to hate it. They expect more action, and less thinking involved watching it, the Matrix offered a challenge that the world isn't what you think it is with most of it shown as high action footage. Reloaded gives you something else later in time, with most of it setting up to Revolutions, and not all of it pure action. I think too many people are going WTF at the closing scenes, and bagging the movie for just ending like that. I saw it as it has presented something that has you thinking the entire movie you just watched wasn't exaclty what you thought it was, a bit of a magicians trick. Too busy looking at their left hand because they told you to look there, when the right hand is doing something totally different......................
People are bagging it because it deliberately leads to another movie, NOW HANG ON everyone seems to love THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and claim it to be the best SW movie, and that left with a cliff hanger and unresolved issues that meant another movie. Isn't that what they are doing with Reloaded? Consistency people! X2 is more obvious in the way it presents that there will be an X3.

Hey guys, with Disney sequels, are you also counting the Touchstone picture sequels as well - that is Disney too (So is Warner Bros now technically - AOLTimeWarner has Disney as part of the whole group)

Three Men and A Little Lady - they should've stopped with the first one and left it there.

Matrix Reloaded is NOT a SEQUEL, it is the middle of a story, part of a trilogy, I thought SW people would understand that. Besides it was good, very good, it was not the first movie it was different. maybe you liked the first movie mnore but you have to wait til all three are out and then you can say, great beginning, whatever ending, i did not like the middle so much.

all Hylander movies should never have been made
all Disney home video stuff also never should get made
remake of Rollerball sucked big time.
all Jason movies...especially this one in the future
with giggly sexed up students and Jason stupid.
Jurrasic Park the book excellent movies ehhhh.
most every movie sequel is bad there are exceptions
BB2000 yes poor james, what was little jimmy thinking.
I think I would love to see a another Starship Troopers
the first one was so funny, you can tell someone on set owns
starcraft broodwars. the ZERG! cinematic to be sure:D
hopefully T3 wont stink.

(strangely enough I hated, weel did not like so much the first MIB)
but I thought the second was rather good, go figure I'm an eggplant;)

lots of other stuff to be sure.
