View Full Version : The last game I played was

Super Monkey Ball 2. Incredibly annoying yet still I play it. The multiplayer party games are the best multiplayer party games I have ever seen in a monkey-related game.

Not worth it for the single player alone, but if you will be spending the next two weeks doing absolutely nothing but sitting in your own filth amongst a few friends then I totally recommend it.

I don't play games properly. I flit between them. This makes it okay for me to describe more than one game.

Wing Commander: Unknown Enemy (http://unknownenemy.solsector.net/) was the last game I played. This is a surprisingly inventive fan game, making use of the original Wing Commander Prophecy engine. Some of the voice acting's a bit ropy, but the variety of the missions is fantastic - when I started, I thought it would be more of the same (escort/strike/run away), but they've actually taken the Prophecy engine and added all sorts of whacky twists. Really inventive. For a fan game.

Also, System Shock 2. This is totally available from Home of the Underdogs (http://www.the-underdogs.org) if anyone's interested. I got up to a bit where my gun jammed at a vital moment and I got all frustrated and quit, but I'll be back! Eventually.

Super Monkey Ball 2 is nifty. The first SMB is one of the greatest multiplayer titles ever, and the sequel is even better. I'm buying it as soon as I'm done with The Wind Waker.

Which is what I'm playing at the moment. As well as being a great game in its own right, it's also the best-looking game ever. Anyone who says otherwise needs the retarded beaten out of them.

Zelda: The Wind Waker

Sadly I haven't been able to refrain from playing, and so have nearly finished. At least I can play it through again when I'm done with a colour camera (I know I can get it in the game the first time through, but I can't) and without the green clothes. Not that that will offer a better gaming experience, I'm just trying to trick myself into thinking there's a lot left to play.

When I don't play I try to talk to benny about it but he shouts and then vanishes. He returns later with a new tri-force map or something.

Whats next? The Ocarina of time...

05-23-2003, 08:12 PM
You also get the Hyrulian translated, and a few other extras too. I'm gonna replay Ocarina as soon as I can be bothered to, and god damn Super Monkey Ball is irritating. I'm being forced into accummulating many many points on one player in order to unlock multiplayer goodness :(

Ah good, I want to hear what Jabun said to the King of Red Lions - and what the hell was that dragon on about?

05-23-2003, 08:25 PM
Civ 3 I believe.

Loom Talkie (never played Loom before!)

The last game I should've played was Beneath a Steel Sky but I couldn't get it to work on Win2000. Anyone know how?

I also want The Longest Journey but I can't get it anywhere.

I know that wasn't the question but... you know

Cause of work and stuff, i haven't been playing games that often. But yesterday was may last exam before teh 5th June so i had a little extra time. went out and bought sim city 4. Why? Dunno, it was an impulse buy and i can't find my copy of Sim City 3000. didn't work (will take back on monday) so i grabbed one of my old games and started playing. it was Need for Speed II SE. I put in a code for a nice car and a good track and played for about an hour.

Beneath A Steel Sky on 2000?

Look here: (I finally figured out a way to play it -- that's the last game I completed before Loom!) http://www.revgames.com/_forum.php?topic=439&message=3556&neuron=5&page=0

Is it the talkie version? If not, be gone with it! Obtain the Amiga-CD version from http://www.back2roots.org/ and a suitable Amiga emulator (WinUAE) and play in glorious talkie 32 colours with superb Amiga music and everything.

If it is the talkie version, of course:
1) lucky bastard
2) I'm not helping because you're a lucky bastard. :)

Work has apparently started on the next Zelda. Best of all, it will utilise the same graphic style as Wind Waker. I'd heard that Nintendo would be using the graphic style seen in the 2000 SpaceWorld demo, in an effort to make the game more retard-friendly. I'm glad to see this isn't the case.

I last played Indiana Jones And The Emperor's Tomb. It was really nice except for the f(l)ight with the Nazi and his tank. You know what I mean if you've played the game.

I'm now playing No One Lives Forever 2. But I liked the first part a lot better. Gameplay has been complicated and it's quite difficult. I don't like the fact that enemies will reappear endlessly. That beats the whole point in being stealthy and hiding the bodies.

05-26-2003, 05:01 PM
Yeah, a new Zelda is coming, but not for a while. The only question that needs to be asked is this: which Zelda game will they give us as a bonus disc??

I STRONGLY recommend getting the talkie version, a lot of the jokes are 100x funnier with the accents and actors they use!

1) Where do I get said talkie version?

2) I'm having difficulty installing FreeDOS. I have the ISO and can run it but it asks for the installed files folder and where installed files should be put (something like that) and I don't know what they are...

05-26-2003, 07:41 PM
1) You have to buy the CD.

2) Are you running from INSIDE Virtual PC?

1) OK

2) Yes

I'm playing through Grim Fandango again. This game really is the greatest adventure game ever, I demand a console release. Or a rather long TV-Out cable and a joypad, so I can pretend that it's a console release. Grim Fandango widescreen with surround sound would rawk.

I never got my version of Loom working with sound, in fact, I never realised there was a talkie version.

I demand that as well. Grim Fandango is a great game, but it has the worst controls ever. A version of Grim with controls built around an analog stick would be just the thing.

05-27-2003, 08:13 PM
It's the joint best game ever, alongside Little Big Adventure 2. That said, there's no doubt that Grim Fandango is better I just love LBA2. In terms of a truly great story, well told in a great setting it beats Monkey Island 2 by quite a margin. Which is a hell of an achievement. It's the Citizen Kane of the computer game world.

I actually prefer the first Little Big Adventure to the second. I thought LBA2 flagged a little once you got off Twinsun, whereas the first game just kept getting better the further you went along. Plus, it had the best ending ever.

I'm so behind the pack. I've just started playing GTA3. :~

Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory (http://www.gamers.com/game/150406)
Good game! Free also.

06-07-2003, 11:00 AM
Technically I'm the same as JBRAA, although I haven't really played Enemy Territory much.

I want to play Simon The Sorcerer again though!

06-07-2003, 06:03 PM
I was replaying both Simon 1 & 2 a couple of months ago. Got stuck early in both though.

Currently, I'm not playing anything special. I'm waiting for Runaway (http://www.runaway-game.com) to be released.

06-07-2003, 07:57 PM
Yeah, that looks worth waiting for

06-09-2003, 09:07 AM
I just replayed Broken Sword 1 and also going to replay second one as well, but from newest games latest were Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb(Indy fans dream come through, whatever critics and other players say) and Mafia. :D

06-09-2003, 09:25 AM
Yeah, I bouught both Broken Sword 1 and 2 but got stuck in 1 and haven't yet got around to 2. I think I might use a walkthrough for just this little bit...

06-09-2003, 09:37 AM
Heh the immortal words. Walkthrough's are more addictive than any drug you care to mention (yes even forum addiction), once you've used one of the buggers you're stuffed for the rest of the game.

06-09-2003, 09:50 AM
Yeah, walkthroughs are addictive, but I have a cure for that: only check solution for that one puzzle from sites like Games Domain (http://www.gamesdomain.co.uk/indexuk.html). First of all, it's pretty easy to navigate AND opens up a smaller window showing that walkthrough, so you don't have to download it; having a copy in your HD or printed version in your hand makes you really use it all the way up to the end. ;)

06-09-2003, 09:50 AM
I don't entirely agree with that. I think as long as you use walkthroughs... in moderation, they can be fine. But yeah, if you use one too much it can really ruin everything.

06-09-2003, 01:53 PM
The Universal Hint System (http://www.uhs-hints.com/) also rawks. I recently played through Broken Sword 2 again and managed to ignore several locations on Zombie Island (not for the first time either). "UHS saved the day!"

I just finished a quick session on Pikmin, and I am beginning to grow more addicted to these funky little strategy games. I could never get into the Command/Conquer aspect of RTS though. Anyway, try Insaniquariam (http://www.popcap.com/gamepopup.php?theGame=insaniquarium) for size. Best.

I've been playing Emperor's Tomb (Hooray for Indy!) and Jedi Knight, The first one mostly, but sometimes Outcast.

Thief: Gold, on expert difficulty, takes me around 3 hours do to a mission. Now THAT'S value for money.
