Anyone here collect the Star Wars action figures? I collect from POTF2 and up. If you don't collect the figures, what else do you collect if anything?

Tie Guy
07-30-2001, 11:54 PM

Paragon_Leon
07-31-2001, 08:08 AM

Tie Guy

Darth_Rommel

I collect SW Figures from POTF2 and up also. I had a lot of Vintage but threw them away (yeah I know, that was stupid to do ).

Darth_Rommel

Boba Rhett
07-31-2001, 04:02 PM
Cool. How many do you have? I have, well I haven't counted them for a while but it's probably like 450 now. My brother in Law had all the old ones but when he was at college his mother bundled them all up and sold them for 10 bucks!!! :o

I threw them out cause I thought that the PoTF 2 line had SO much more detail, I wasn't too concerned about the value or even my childhood history with them. I totally regret it now. A couple of ships joined them in the trash too :( I should be beaten to a bloody pulp for throwing them away! I should have at least sold them. That way I'd get some cash :)

FlyBOy
07-31-2001, 04:13 PM
don't beat yourself up over it Kvan, everybody makes dumb mistakes, just some people make stupider ones, such as in your case:D

Darth_Rommel

Haha! :)

Boba Rhett
07-31-2001, 04:14 PM

I have probaby a little more then half that :( But I buy two of everything...

Boba Rhett
07-31-2001, 04:25 PM
For some of the figure's I really like I'll sometimes get 5 or 6. Man, we are fast. :)

Kvan
07-31-2001, 04:31 PM
Yeah you guys are fast! When I first got here it all the last posts were by TIE Guy, then they were practically all by Darth_Rommel. I'm sure by the time my old decrepit hands finish typing this 5 more new posts will happen on this topic alone :)

Tie Guy
07-31-2001, 04:31 PM
5 times, why? What's the point?

Kvan
07-31-2001, 04:35 PM
I'm saying that 5 more new posts will happen on this thread alone, before I finished typing my post. I used 5 just as a random number....you feeling ok?:)

Tie Guy
07-31-2001, 04:39 PM
Dang, too slow. I was talking to rhett btw.

Boba Rhett
07-31-2001, 04:43 PM
I don't know. Because it's fun to have more than one of them. :)

Tie Guy
07-31-2001, 04:43 PM
How's that, do you play with them?

Boba Rhett
07-31-2001, 04:52 PM
Yes, And display them. It's fun ahving several of somethats rare and there are also many different variations.

Tie Guy
07-31-2001, 04:59 PM
Oh, i never knew.....

FlyBOy
07-31-2001, 05:03 PM
boba, when you display, do you have special display cases, or do you just put them out? My stuff gets really dusty fast, so i have to keep them in boxes or wrapped up somewhere.

Tie Guy
07-31-2001, 05:06 PM
Then what's the point of having them if they are all wrapped up? Money?

FlyBOy
07-31-2001, 05:09 PM
well, i can't display them because they get dusty really fast, so it's just easier to keep them wrapped up. And yes, some(most) stuff is for money(what can i say, i like money)

Kvan
07-31-2001, 05:14 PM
It's always about money $_$

FlyBOy
07-31-2001, 05:22 PM
Not always

Kvan
07-31-2001, 05:24 PM
Thats what you think :D

FlyBOy
07-31-2001, 05:26 PM
hehe:p

Boba Rhett
07-31-2001, 09:42 PM
For most of them, I built large shelves to hold them. For the really expensive ones, I have plastic protective cases.

Whats the most expensive one you have, Rhett? *Checks his profile to see where he lives* :)

Boba Rhett
07-31-2001, 09:57 PM
I'm not sure. It's probably one of the variants or maybe the autographed maul.

Sweet! So you met Ray Park?
My uncle went to the premire of Epi.1(in california) and sat at the table right next to Lucas's. He wouldn't take me though:mad:

Boba Rhett
07-31-2001, 11:00 PM
WOW! He went to the premire? Did he stand in line to get in? Did he get Lucass' autograph?

Kvan
07-31-2001, 11:03 PM
No, he didn't get Lucas's autograph :(
I don't think he had to stand in line. He knew he was getting in. He has connections. Unfortunatelly I don't :(

Tie Guy
07-31-2001, 11:59 PM
That would be neat, but i doubt Lucas's autograph would be worth much, unless it was on an action figure.

Paragon_Leon
08-02-2001, 10:15 AM
if you have lots of action figures, you could come up with a lot more units for GB..

Eh? What do you mean?
If we get more action figures, we can come up with more units for GB? How?

Paragon_Leon
08-02-2001, 03:46 PM
well, in the Kenner line you had Luke in Endor gear, Jedi-outfit, snow-gear, pilot-gear, trainee-gear, basic-gear, stormtrooper-disguise... you name it.

and there were lots of species that haven't even been discussed yet.

so just go through your action figure collection and see what unit might make a cool translation into the game..

Ah! I gottcha!
You can just go on the net though, to find SW species. :) I see what your saying though

Paragon_Leon
08-02-2001, 04:31 PM
do what the designers did: dig up those expanded universe books, novels, sketchbooks, artbooks, vehicle/species-guides, etc. then pick the best stuff from it and use it in the game..

i think with the amount of info out there, they hardly had to do any designing themselves.. :D
(don't worry, Garry et al, i know you worked hard on this and still are.. and you drew yourselves crazy..)

Tie Guy
08-02-2001, 10:26 PM
Atually, they probably have to make up a great deal of the stuff for the TF, Wookies, Naboo, and Gungans. The Alliance and Empire was pretty much set, but they neded a little. Man i'd love to have that job. :D

Paragon_Leon
08-03-2001, 09:22 AM
me too. having a meeting is boring already, but having a meeting to discuss units and their abilities sounds like a big fantasy-party.

Tie Guy
08-03-2001, 03:39 PM
That's a good way to put it.

Plus, i like to draw, so it would be fun to be a concept artist.

Paragon_Leon

A while ago i was brainstorming with a friend about making an rpg-like Star Wars adventure on the MSX, just for fun. So i started designing the whole thing. We came quite far. Even had an engine running. But our lives have caught up with us. That friend also tried to make a total conversion of Dune 2 for the MSX. We named ourselves Paragon. So now you people know where it comes from. Who knows, he might even drop in in the future when i have infected him with the GB-virus..
hehe..

Lets keep this on topic Leon (sorry I HAD to do that) :D
Really though has anyone found Duro's? I hear he is easy to find but for the life of me I can't find him!

Boba Rhett
08-13-2001, 03:08 AM
Yeah, I found two of him two weeks ago. Haven't seen him since. Who told you he was easy to find? None of the current figures are easy to find because they aren't produced in the large numbers they were. Many stores only recieve one box of each wave.

I'll post weekly store reports in the off topic board for you to help you out. :)

Here in my area ALL the SW figures have been pretty easy to find. I check out CollectStarwars.com from time to time and it seems like he is an easy find.
What figures can't you find Rhett?

Paragon_Leon
08-13-2001, 03:09 PM
You live in California ?!? No WONDER all SW-figures can be found easily..
must be the Lucasfilm archives being full to bursting and spilling the action figures out first..

last time i went to the USA in april, i was thinking of stopping by L.A. / California to hunt down some SW-stuff, but it seemed too much trouble for toys that i wouldn't bother with afterwards anyway..

here in Holland it's murder trying to get stuff like that.

Kvan
08-13-2001, 03:38 PM
So whats the last wave that you've seen, leon?
BTW It's *&#%@ Hot here!

I'm looking for the micro Machines from the trilogy. Ep I micros sucked so bad they kind of killed the thing. But if anyone can find some tell me where they are by pms okay. I have a lot of them basically a fleet of them. They wee my first and favorite star wars toys. I must find more to complete my fleet!!!

Kvan
08-13-2001, 04:21 PM
Oh Hell yeah! I love the micro machines! There so little and tiny! They kick ass! In fact I have some displayed on one of my Tvs. :)

darthfergie
08-13-2001, 04:26 PM
I have close to 100 of the ships because they are so cool.:D
I have a squadron of X-wings, but I really want a squadron of TIE Intercepters. Or what would be awesome if they made TIE Defenders or Victory Satr Desroyers. Interdictors, Dreadnuaghts and Scimtair Attack Bombers. E-Wings would be nice...actually any of the old trilogy Micro Machines would be nice.

Kvan
08-13-2001, 04:46 PM
Close to 100 ships!?
Are you even missing any?
Can I have some ;)

I have actually one action figure ... Boba Fett, and he's hanging on my TV antenna (It would be cooler if I had a bespin-luke for that tough http://www.rendo.dekooi.nl/~gkonings/avatars/thrawnsmiley1.gif )

I also have an R2-D2 alarm clock ... but that doesn't count, does it?

Paragon_Leon
08-13-2001, 05:32 PM
well, let's see... my Vader-mug just broke, so no luck there...
last wave i saw were the 'Power Of The Force' figures (?!?) that looked like they were on steroids. i mean, come on...Luke Skywalker didn't look like a tiny farmboy, but like Hercules !
That's why i didn't get any of that line. The original Kenner line looked right on scale, authentic and life-like.
i remember spending quite a few days on the attic in the early 80's...
ah, memories...

Darth_Rommel

Hmm, i used to have a couple of those bigger snub fighters. I had a TIE Interceptor and a X-Wing. Thats it, i'm not really into action figures.

Oh yeah, i have a ton of old military micro machines, but they aren't Star Wars.

darthfergie
08-13-2001, 07:31 PM
Man my SW figures...Mellenium Falcon, X-Wnigs (2), Outrider, At-At, TIE Fighter, Snowspeeder, a ton of regular action figures. I bought them at the age where I was really into SW figures. I still bought alot of Ep I stuff just not as much.( :thrawn: this is so cool they actually added an Icon because of massive demand. Maybe we should try for MORE:D )

LOL. I remember the buff Luke figure and the pig faced Leia. Those were the original 1995 potf2 line. I have most of the ships too. Last year, they had many of them on clearance so I got an AT-AT for 20 bucks :D

Any of you guys collect promotional items?

Is anyone looking forward to the *zzzzzap* Vader? He looks pretty keen!
BTW Damn fergie! You had a lot of ships, is it all vintage stuff(besides the Outrider, of course)?

I've been collecting a long time (3years old). I saw the movies about 3 times a week for about 2 or 3 years. I thought they were so awesome and kept getting SW toys. Then when the THX version came out they said it would be the last time SW was going to be shown.:D I was ticked, but out they came with Special Edition and my Life was saved. Then along comes epI and I rejoice because SW Lives. And I guess that is pretty much my life's biography:D

Yeah, it does look that way. It also looks like they are paying more attention to gun detail, which is nice. Hopefully they don't make it out of the flimsy plastic, like they have been with the guns.

Yeah, you mean the bottom part of his lightsaber (not his hilt). It looks like something out of the comics! Plus it's gonna look funny next to all the other Jedi! I like his pose though
