View Full Version : Some people need to know when to bite their tounges

This happened about a month and ahalf ago, but it aggravates me to this day, eating at me like a festering cut that won't heal...

We were playing this really slow, drawn out, and flat out lame version of 'America the Beautiful'. My part was horrible(2nd Trumpet) toward the end where I had play this dumb part that sounded like crud. Well, we finish and I say 'I hate this song.' Albeit, I should've been less straightfoward in saying I hate it, such as saying 'I hate this version of this song'. Well, this jackass behind me says '***, your a Nazi(the *** is my real name, not a cuss).' Now I'm of German decent, so I obviously got mad being called a Nazi. I go off on this guy.
Well, today, his little brother IM's me on AOL and starts calling me a nazi and talking about what I said that day as if it involved him in anyway. This time I kept my cool.

My point is some people don't know when their words are gonna offend somebody. I'm openly German deseded, so he knew what he said would irritate me.

I realize this sounds a bit hypocritical, but when he called me a Nazi, I flat out told him I only meant THIS version of it...it a not so calm way...

Anyone else have this happen or know stories like it?

Well, we have to accept that this world is full of narrow-minded redneck halfwits. Really, our only choice is to ignore them... or use a flamthrower or something. Your choice. :p

On a similar theme:
My fianceé's half German (her mother has a noticable German accent, even though she's lived in the UK for 30 years now).
Now she doesn't get 'grief' for it as such, but one day at work, she'd inadvertently sat on a chair that 'belonged' to someone else. IE- They'd been sitting there, temorarily got up and hadn't yet returned to the chair.
She, in the meanwhile, had also done the same, but had left some paperwork on the chair, so that people could see she was sitting there. When the guy returned, he asked who was sitting there just as my fianceé has returning. "I am" she said. "Oh, that's just like a German isn't?", he said. "leaving your bloody towels on the sun-loungers and buggering off for the morning*"
Now it wasn't an overly-nasty comment, and it wasn't meant as such. But my fianceé gets upset at the assumption that she has such obviously 'negative' German traits.
Now as I live with her, I can vouch for the fact that she doesn't. (although she does display nagative 'female' traits sometimes  :p).
But yeah, sometimes people should put their brains into gear before opening their mouths.

And Psion, I feel really bad for you. I'd have lamped him one, not that it would have helped. I thought everyone knew that the Germans are more sensitive to the 'Nazi' thing than the rest of the world. Jeez. If anyone even jokes about that to my fianceé or her mother, they fly right off the handle. And rightly so.

Anyway, just my 2p's worth.
Peace out,

*Negative as this may sound, this is a very real phenomenon

I'ld come in with a big-arse swastika on my forehead. And I agree. I mean, c'mon. How many flags were there before 9/11 and then afterwards. False Patriotism. On a similar note, would anyone celebrate the 4th of July if it wasn't for 9/11 and fireworks? NO!God, one day. Ahh, whatever.9/11, FLAG HERE! FLAG THERE! FLAG BUMPER STICKER! FLAG ON CAR! SALUTE THE FLAG EVERY MORNING DAY AND NIGHT! FLAG TATOO! False patriotism.
