Not my son! Our 1969 Ford Mustang Convertable 351W. Thought I'd share its picture before this baby is gone. Its *hopefully* going to pay our share of the wedding. Sorry if this comes out huge.

Do you think that's a resonable price or are people going to think I've gone to the loony bin?

Looks to be in very good condition, how many miles? What's original? What's been restored?

To be honest, unless you answer those questions with some off the wall answers $8,000 ain't bad! Now, If I could only make it to Cali and back for about $500, I'd take that deal! :D

Its got a brand new fully functional top
My fiance has had it for 7 years
It has new body work
The paint was new 7 years ago, so it does need some paint
Body is in Excellent Condition
The dash needs Restored as it is old
It has mach seats - black vinyl the interior is in good condition, however the driver seat has a small tear
We would have re-done the interior but have run short on time.
It has 35K on new motor
Dual exhuast with Flowmaster

Um what else...I don't know much about cars.

Sell it to me, I'm closer than Rhett and Havoc... COMBINED, and I need a car! Ahahahah!

One curiosity: What's the status on Drivetrain, Power Steering, and transmission?

Hey, my roommate wants to trade your '69 Ford for a very good German car
A Volkswagen Golf from '95
it's a great offer you can't refuse.

He'll even pay half the shipping costs...

I thought you ment your child! Dang...Well that's what I get for watching Law & Order yesterday (Episode where woman sells child to drug dealer for enough drugs to keep her going...dealer orders kid to kill...1 dead, 1 injured).

Sell it to MEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I am the biggest carfreak/gearhead here! (Right, Artoo??) Have you or your fiancee (sp?) ever dyno'd it before? What else can you tell us?

edlib

$8000 seems low.

But then I live in the Northeast where cars like that are pretty rare these days due to our wonderful climate and our outstanding drivers around here.

So true. If you ever see my sister on the road...leap out of your car.

I've got a funny story, but I don't want to hijack the thread. $8000 seems really low, but I guess it's regional like edlib said.

i'm getting so sick of my damn car. i've spent $1600 on fixing the AC and brakes the past month...
I'm seriously considering moving to NY and dumping my car... dont need a car in the city baby!

STTCT
08-07-2003, 05:55 AM
I thought it seemed lowed but its hard to find car prices for classic cars.

Anyways...I believe the transmission is in awesome condition and I know nothing of drivetrain etc.

No we've never had it dynoed but I can tell you that it has taken every car I've come against. And I'm no race car driver!

*laughing gleefully* Cool! I wondered if you knew what I meant by "dyno'd". It's good that someone else besides me and Artoo knows stuff about cars.
Anyway, is it a manual or auto? If manual, how many speeds?

STTCT
08-08-2003, 08:55 AM
That's the one thing. Its auto.... :o(. Would be a lot faster if it was manual.

No I know some stuff about cars. I happen to love mustangs and I have a pretty decent car myself. A corolla S.

i LOVE automatic shifting (especially the steering-weel ones) ..

in germany (europe) most cars are manual shifted (it's standard).. and this is quite annoying especially in the city..
NOT thati cannot shift.. there is NO prob with it. but one hand is always busy with shifting.. ;)
plus i dont need a fast car ..
1. everybody HEARD i got fast away from that crossway .. but noone (e.g. the lads) saw it..?
2. baby on board.
3. i like it to drive .. cool.

i heard in the us most cars are automatic shifted.. could be a reason for wanting a 'normal' shifting..

STTCT
08-08-2003, 10:34 AM
Yes automatic is almost standard nowadays in America. Nobody likes manual for the fact you mention. Its a pain in the ass when driving in the city. For the most part Manual does save you gas mileage and well the gas prices here are very high. Manual also is cheeper and that is why a lot of people end up getting them.

My car has Tiptronic. (An automatic with a seperate gate if you want to shift manually. All the advantages of both, but with no clutch to worry about.) Yay! German engineering rocks! :D

yeah AUDI came up with a new transmission.. shifting times at ca. 0.04 secs i think. the clue .. PREselection.. possible through 2 clutch discs one for gear 1, 3, 5 and the other for the gears 2, 4, 6 ..

available as tiptronic and fullautomatic.. and combined.

our gasoline prices are around 1 euro per litre (1 litre= ca 0.26 gallons) .. means 4 euros per gallon. AND of that 1 euro 0,87 cents are tax.. :fist: ...

but youre right sttct .. manual shifting is good to save gasoline..!!

(i only sometimes drive a firmcar and since automatic cost more .. we only have manual shifted ones)

Daddy wants... :(

Your car is BEAUTIFUL!!! I love classic cars like the one you have. It's got a great body design and it's American made! :)

I'm too young to think about buying a classic car though... I kinda need to get out of schooling before I upgrade from my Buick. :(

If there was anyway I could purchase it from you Shan... I would be out there on the next plane with $8000 in hand... and I wouldn't even ask for any extra work done on it. I'd wanna work on it myself. :D

Good luck in finding the right buyer for your car Shan... cars that are that nice do not need to go to waste, they are American treasures. :)

Well said, Artoo!

STTCT- I have a few friends at work who are really big in classic cars. Their both out of the office right now, but I think one of them should be back soon. (He better be, I can't take my lunch until he returns and watches the loading docks and warehouse for me...I NEED FOOD!) Anyway, I'll ask them about prices...they should have a good idea what that would normally go for.

My dad had a 1965 Chevy Malibu SS. Rabbit White, only 11,000 made. We had to sell it, but we got a restorer to buy it. *grins dreamily* The thing was a beast. It was huge, and had a lot of power. I drove it several times. :D Awesome, wasn't it, Artoo?

It was a battleship of the road! :D

Seriously the thing was as wide as a car could legally be pretty much, and it wasn't very short either.

Not to mention the solid iron frame! There are no namby-pamby crumple zones. :D

STTCT
08-11-2003, 04:54 AM
heh...crumple zones. Cars like that didn't need them. They'd drive right through one of plastic cars today - anyday!!

It's really expensive and don't they get a chunk of the percentage of sale???

Boba Rhett

I think they only get like 1% of thr sale price.

jediduo
08-13-2003, 02:36 AM
OMG, Artoo!! Where did you find that? That's almost EXACTLY what it looked like, everyone. Unreal....

Well, we got a "new" car tonight. The local minor league baseball team was holding "Clunker Car Nite" where spectators could win old banged-up hupties that had been donated by local dealerships. To make a long story short, my family is now the proud owner(s) of a 1984 Oldsmobile 88. :(
