So it's the second day of class. It takes me about 45 minutes to get to my school, so I decide to leave a good hour early to make a good impression on the professor.

Cruising along, making good time. I get most of the way there, I hit a big traffic snarl. Oof. Ok, I've got some wiggle room.

So I sit. And sit. And sit. Eventually, after about 15 minutes of waiting, I pass by a sign "Construction ahead."

Fortunatley, I get to my school before I get to the construction. I end up 5 minutes late, and the professor gives me a dirty look. So much for first impressions.

Anyway, my rant is this: The highway dept has had all summer to get done the work it needs to get done. I've seen them doing a few small jobs here and there, but they decided to wait until the very end of the summer to do work on the roads. Furthermore, they choose to start at the beginning of the college semester, right around the college, as well as on the bridge where commuters to school have to cross.

Road construction is springing up all over the area! (NY, Poughkeepsie). Why was this not being done near the beginning or middle of the summer? Why wait until you know traffic is going to increase dramatically in the areas you need to work on? Those would have been the first areas I would finish!

Lazy! I worked with them for a summer. They are lazy! They sit around, taking their sweet time getting jobs done, taking 2 hours lunches, until the very end of the summer when the boss lights a fire under them and they actually start working. It droves me crazy then, it drives me mad now!

Arrrrgh!

Use this thread to post angry rants about random stuff.

alright, ill rant about something. My School sceduel has been flipped flopped about 3 times now because my stupid Drivers Ed teach had absolutly no idea what hes doin, so in the mean time, he confuses all of the students by either putting some in Lunch, some in study hall and some wandering the halls. Thats why i chose just to go to the library and on LF :D

I feel your pain shock... Now for my turn. :D

Its 2 days until school and I HAVEN'T A THING PREPPED FOR SCHOOL!! I don't have my binders, notebooks, pens, etc etc!! My lousy mother keeps on shopping at the last minute for school supplies!! What makes it worse is the fact that its my first year in hig school! Just a question... Do I really need stuff on the first day of highschool? Or is it just one of those elementary 1st days where you can jsut sit back and listen to your teacher lecture about whats gonna happen in the near future?... Now back to my rants -- I got a haircut recently from some barbershop where I've never been before. I asked for an undercut and then got some crappy odd mushroom cut! Man what an F'ing waste of $15.

Ok here is my rant.

Ok near me there is a great KFC, that is really good. And its next to a mall. But I cant do anything about it. But there is more. The city is tearing it down, in place of like a starbucks drive through. And not that i dont like my double shot frapichino with whip cream, but there are atleast 7 within the radius off 500 feet. Its crazy. So im gonna send a letter to the city. :) . And the reason they are gonna move it cause the mall security people want to go to star bucks to get cofee for midnight energy. Even though there is a staff room at the mall, to get a truck load of plain black cofee.

Wow, Shock, that's so wierd...There's road construction going on at my school, too! I think the crew here is lazy as well. I mean, c'mon, they were working on it as far back as JULY!!! It's the end of August, and there's hardly any progress done! It's outrageous! The area has traffic problems as is, and with this still going on, it's INSANE! What's worse, I heard that they might not be done until November or December! I'm hoping that's just an unsubstantiated rumor.

Angry ranting? Okay, I got some. It's not that bad it just seems that way 'cause I was really happy until I heard it. There's a video dance this sunday and I was thinking about going to it, only if my friends were (little point otherwise) so I talk to a couple of my friends to see if they're going. It seems pretty good but then I talk to one of my friends and he says he's going. Okay cool, so I get him to ask his sister (yet another friend of mine and pretty good one to boot) if she knew who all was going and the response I got was "**** you, I don't care who you know that's going." I don't remember actually doing anything wrong and I'd been talking to her earlier and everything was okay. Plus she's not known for getting angry easily. So now I'm downright pissed and confused as to what I did.

I'll be prepared for college by April even thought I'm starting on the 2nd :p

I dont like to get organised. I'm spontanious but i get my work done so its no worry.

as for my rant against construction:

my street is getting an asphalt face lift. they tore out the old pavement 4 weeks ago... its still torn out. Why aren't the crews here to pave it up? they're waiting for school to start and the street to get cloged up with school buses in the morning?

as for school related rant:

my year starts on the 2nd of septembre . ... yet i got my schedule only ont he 27th of august....why the delay?

I hear ya on the construction thing. It seems like every road in Iowa is under construction in some form or another, and none of it gets done in a timely manner.

I don't blame the guys for wanting to keep their jobs longer, but seriously... it's crazy.

And there are just as many (if not more) accidental deaths and crashes from construction as there are from using old roads (with potholes and bumps on them).

Though, a couple of years ago they repaved the street in front of my house and put in a new curb (there was this pathetic excuse for one there when I was growing up) so I'm not going to argue about that. Thankfully they did it while I was in college, so I never even noticed the construction. ; )

Professors should make accomadations for construction detours. If they don't, then they're jerks... though eventually you just have to start out even earlier, since you'll know the routine delays.
