I just got the sunday paper, and guess what, LUCAS ARTS DIDNT BUY ANY ADVERTISEMENT

This makes it look like a weak small game or somin, i mean for the past 2 weeks ive seen advertisements for games that come out in october, even rebel strike for GC, and various other games

Why did they do this?? its not in circut city, best buy, frys, target, or any other place with pc games, like comp usa

whassup with that?

That seems kind of odd, considering the game will be out in 3 days...

I bet you anything though there will probably be heavy advertising when the Xbox version comes out...

I think there is not that much advertisements because the game is very similar to JO in the graphics department, so maybe the common person would not be able to distinguish between the two and the advertisements would not be that successful. And after all of the complaints that it should just be an expansion, not a full game, perhaps LA doesnt think this game will do that well and they dont want to waste money on it.

Hm. I know I will. But it'll probably be in november considering the lazy-asses at the two stores sellling games (one is a book store (have the games, but expensive) and the other sells mobile phoes and TV:s and such (rarely have the game you want but they are cheaper))

You people forget; its got the Star Wars liscence on it; it practically doesn't need any advertisments.

They're probably going to do a mad advertising rush as it gets closer to christmas. You'll see two waves: die-hard fans will buy it now, parents will buy it for their 13 year olds in two months.

Well Kidso... it depends on where you live I guess... about two weeks ago I saw a TV commercial for the latest Gamestar issue... it also had some scenes of JA in it...

The only ads i've seen for the game are in the gaming store windows along with "knights of the old republic".

According to All-Seeing-Eye, I see 1876 players, but the thing is that it also includes bots as players. I would say maybe 1500 human players.

I have been to two EBs and both have had NO ADVERTISING for JA. Come on! It is insane . . .

i have seen one advertisement for Jedi Academy so far, right outside the EB by me. Best Buy doesn't even have anything about the game on their site that i checked about 2 days ago, but of course you could preorder Half-Life 2 and Halo 2 a few weeks after they were annonced. o well, its not going to stop me from buying the game. infact im going to be going to Wal-mart to see if they put out the game early. hahahahahaha!

I didn't see any ads for the game. But I have seen ads for stores saying they will be carrying the game. Does that count?

Crow_Nest

Well, I don't think they need to do a great deal of advertising this time around. I mean, for Jedi Outcast they had to pump out a lot of ads to get people interested, because it had been 4 years since the last game - and a lot of people hadn't even heard of JK, or the DF series. So they had to make a big splash ad campaign about it.

This time around...the fan base is established again, and it's only been 18 months since the release of JO - so most of the hardcore purchasers are already there. I think there will be more ads closer to the Christmas period, as Zen Knight said.

Also, they may look at things like pre-order numbers and decide that they are getting a good response anyway, and that it isn't worth spending extra money on advertising. Or maybe since they know FPS are traditionally big sellers, they aren't spending the advertising dollars on it. Whereas they might spend the money on KOTOR, since RPGs are normally as big.
