Hey folks! Who do you think would win? Allies and Soviets in Red Alert 2 or Rebs and Imps in Galactic Battlegrounds?

Paragon_Leon
07-31-2001, 04:47 PM
you mean...rebs and imps together against allies and soviets ?

duh...

take just the one AT-AT.

Starnick10287

:atat: + laser blasts + allies & sovets=big explosion destroing all of the allies and sovets.

Paragon_Leon
07-31-2001, 06:14 PM
exactly.

reb & imps go :D and :p , while allies and sovs go  and :(

Starnick10287
07-31-2001, 06:16 PM
well maybe a few nukes from the sovets and a few weather control storms from the allies will send the imps and rebels running.

Paragon_Leon
07-31-2001, 06:19 PM
not with shields....

JediMasterEd
07-31-2001, 10:00 PM
who knows. explosions can destroy shields (possably) to a point where the ship heats up and melts. Lightning can only affect ground units or ships within the atmostphere. Lightning can cause an electrical surge in the ship. frying the ships onboard computer and sending it into the ground.

Some demo trucks and Chrono Legionnaires would have the imp "history" :D

Are you being serious? Star Wars has weapons in the gigatonnage range, and shields in the terraton range, while current day tech can produce nothing more then a puny 20 megaton explosive, where as even a fighter class laser cannon produces at least 1 megaton, and that's the weakest weapon they have (excluding personel mounted weapons of course) I don't feel like writing down all my sources right now, so just visit this site http://www.angelfire.com/scifi/ImperialNavyYard/Yard.htm

How about some calculations, how strong are these explosions?

Paragon_Leon
08-01-2001, 07:41 AM
so strong calculating them is unnecessary... :D

First of all any SW capital ship could perform an orbital bombardment, and destroy the planet's surface. But let's say were talking just about ground forces(which I assume you are)
Storm trooper armour is highly resistant to projectile weapons (Check the essential guide to weapons and Technology), so unless red alert arms all their troops with sub machine guns (which would be quite costly), they're going to have to use a grenade to kill a storm trooper, and if you're to close to the storm trooper, you'll get killed in your own blast.

What's the biggest thing they've ever blown up?

Paragon_Leon

Alderaan, naturally.

Paragon_Leon

:D yeah, Yuri did it !!

ok, so you meant RA2 explosions.
I once dropped an atom-bomb on my opponents base that set off a chain reaction of explosions with oil barrels & stuff.
biggest mess i ever saw.
won instantly too..
:p

I'd say that was an explosion in the low kiloton range, maybe mid-kiloton, depends how big the base was, and how armoured the buildings, and vehicles.
Just in case you're not aware of what all these ton things I'm talking about here's a chart

1 ton= 1 ton
1 kiloton= 1000 tons
1 megaton= 1000 kilotons
1 gigaton= 1000 megatons
1 terraton = 1000 gigatons
1 petaton = 1000 terratons

These tons are measuring a blast caused by something of the amount of TNT it would take to cause the same blast.

An example is the A-bomb dropped on Hiroshima during ww II was 15 kilotons. (Just added that to measure how powerful other blasts are.)

phew. i'm sure you won't go calculating strength when one is dropped on you..

How is this relevant? What I'm trying to prove is that Star Wars weaponary is far more advanced then Red Alert's.

Well then why was this thread even started?

Hmm Tanya vs. AT-AT a few rounds bounce of the AT-AT before it's cannons make Tanya into a crater. Yuri vs. Jedi Yuri tries to take over the Jedi's mind the jedi turns uses lightsabre to shrink yuri to half his size. Telsa Troopers vs. Stormtrooper well the stormtroopers get fried but it doesn't matter the AT-AT's are coming up behind them and the electricitey doesn't penetrate the outer armor.

Actually, GI's in RA2 have 50 cals when they deploy, that would do the trick, no?

Plus, Tanya would just set some explosives on the AT-ATs and they would explode into tiny pieces.

JediMasterEd
08-01-2001, 10:22 PM
c4's are pretty powerful. but a whole bunch of prism tanks vs. at-at's? i think we know who would win.

G1's? cals? What are these? (Sorry, i'm not familiar with Red Alert units.)

That's if she could get close enough to plant them, and if they were strong enough.

i have a vision...

an army of Yuri's doing mind-tricks on Jedi...

Observer, C4 would be plenty to do the trick on a AT-AT, after all, Luke destroys one with a grenade.

Oh, and GI's are the allied trooper that can deploy to have extra range and firepower.

Paragon_Leon
08-02-2001, 07:17 PM
don't you think C4 is a lot less powerful than a Star Wars-grenade ?

Darth_Rommel
08-02-2001, 07:19 PM
Yeah, and plus the RA2 troops would have to put the grenade inside the AT-AT- not an easy task

Paragon_Leon
08-02-2001, 07:22 PM
they have those Rocketeer-type units. those should do it..

Darth_Rommel
08-02-2001, 07:24 PM
C'mon guys! This is a Star Wars forum- so let Star Wars win!

Paragon_Leon

i said they SHOULD do it, but of course they are picked out of the sky by a squadron of TIE's before they even come close..

Yes, but Luke put the Grenade inside the AT-AT, how would they be able to get the C4 inside?

Ok, so then in the interest of being conservative, they can take down a stormtrooper, as easily as a stormtrooper can take them down.

Tie Guy
08-02-2001, 07:58 PM
assuming they had TIE fighters on Hoth, which they didn't

Darth_Rommel
08-02-2001, 07:59 PM
But the Star Destroyers could have easily sent hundreds down

Paragon_Leon

not if you notice that armor on all those statistics-sites out there..

Tie Guy

I think that it would be too cold for TIE, after all, they said that they were having trouble adapting the speederes to the cold.

Darth_Rommel
08-03-2001, 02:29 PM
Oh yeah... I never thought of that ;)

Tie Guy
08-03-2001, 05:41 PM
Then again....wouldn't it be too cold for X-wings too? Oh well, i guess they just didn't bother, it not like they needed it. :D

Darth_Rommel

Space is also cold ;)

Really, Rommel...can't you post messages longer than one sentence or doesn't your rank move up fast enough if you do ?
:p

The last twelve posts or so on this topic have been absolutely meaningless with oneliners all the way. Please stay on-topic if we can, folks.

Now, do you think there might be a unit that can place bombs on buildings like Tanya from RA2 could ?

Darth_Rommel
08-04-2001, 06:17 PM
Well, have you noticed my rank will isn't moving, I have been stuck on gungan for quite a while now  I suppose it's my punishment ;)

darthfergie

Maybe a bounty Hunter could.:fett:

Darth_Rommel
08-04-2001, 06:20 PM
Besides, yourr rank is moving up alot faster than mine Mr. 150 posts per day! :p

Paragon_Leon
08-04-2001, 06:26 PM
Those were 1) the first few days (today for instance, i haven't even posted 50 posts yet), and 2) i challenge you to compare your posts to mine. I think you'll see the content difference. If you can't ask the forummers here if they can..
Look, not to bash or anything. I just think chat-like messages don't belong in a discussion.

Darth_Rommel
08-04-2001, 06:28 PM
I admit you are slowing down, but you still post more than me :p

Paragon_Leon
08-04-2001, 06:33 PM
See point # 2 in my previous post. Look, i'm not going to reply time and again to this. I made my position on this clear, so i consider this thread closed until the topic is discussed again.

Who is Tanya, is she a hero or something? Or perhaps a specific type of type of aircraft. Please enlighten this poor soul, who has never played RA2 and is very confused about this "Tanya's" origins *gasps for air* Yikes this has got to be my longest post ver! ;)

Paragon_Leon
08-04-2001, 06:43 PM
It iiiiis.. :D :D
(laughs out loud)
thanks for that humorous moment...
Tanya was a female commando who could kill soldiers with one shot from afar and could blow up building by attaching bombs to them.
So i was wondering if there could be a unit in one of the civs that would be comparable to that.

darthfergie
08-04-2001, 06:56 PM
In Yuri's Revenge She can also attach bombs to automobiles too.
see www.westwood.com

Tie Guy
08-04-2001, 07:24 PM
I like the idea of bounty hunters being able to place bombs. Or it could be that there is a whole special unit that could blow up building, like a Commando unit or something.

As for Tanya....Dang she's fine. :D
