You did good, but there are sometimes more than one entry in each .npc file. :p

I haven't messed with cultist_saber_powers in game, does it work like jedi_random? Because there are many different npcs in that file.

Anyway, here are a few extra:

Ah, looking at the tavion_new.npc, found the answers.


Tavion_sith_sword is the possessed Tavion npc
Tavion_scepter is her with the scepter, obviously.

There is also the regular ragnos, that was listed - which is likely just the ghost figure- it is classed as a Gran, and has only melee weapons equipped, and no health entered in the npc file.

cause its funny trying to kill something invunrable :P , plus makes for some good pix , esspecially when u spawn 4 in one place turn notarget off then stand inbetween them and turn it on again :D even got one to eat a wampa, oh and one mutant rancor ate a regular rancor :D

how do you spawn the haxardtrooper and hazardtrooper with conc. rifle, i mean the ones with jetpaxks, i use playermodel boba_fett and then re modify my force to their normal standards but i wanna do battle with those guys in the air :D what is the id? i tried them harzardtrooperjetpack but that doesn't work? :confused: :mad:

i never encountered any with rocet launchers, only reaperters and conc rifles.

from what i saw, they were thin hazardtroopers with jetpacks

they are in the gas platform and the vjun level and on the gas level he has a repeater.

what are the ids for those guys?:confused:

Actually, I never encountered jetpack troopers with rocket launchers... but yeah, I tried them in game and RocketTrooper2Officer is the jetpack repeater guy.

Don't try to use him as a playermodel, my game crashed hard when I tried it!

Anyway, for the hazard troopers, heres the npcs:

last night on my server this guy spawned a tauntaun and rancor and was able to jump on them and control them.. is that normal or is there a special command.

also is there a way you can spawn an NPC to attack everyone but the spawner?

I think to ride a rancor or tauntaun you must spawn them as avehicle.Like:

The mutant rancor CAN die. I had like 100 stoops versus it and it eventually keeled over...

Yeah, it is mortal.

But it has 10000 health, whereas the regular Rancor has 2000.

also I was so surprise I did it load SP map"devmap hoth2" form MP
then all npc in that map too.. "tauntaun" "wampa" and "tauntaun" can ride too :)

and what is most funny things for me
I was Dark side in SP..and
I spawn mutant_rancor in game just before final battle with tavion is start...
then cinema movie is started .. then Mutant_rancor is in cinema too then eat tavion.....
then I was automaticaly win so next kyle is show up... in front of mutant_rancor ... then kyle was eaten too and Im win again then Luke is show up then he talking him self... kyle is gone so..
then finaly Luke was eaten too... but cinematic movie is keep going and going with all npc ... that so funny I couldn't stop laughing.... please try this your SP game..:D :D
so I fund we can change all cinema scene too I took many screenshot so if want to see it ? let me know?

There was 1 on the dreadnought level i believe? Behind this blue shield with two stormtroopers.

I do like this:

I spawn a swoop, and then a "smart" guy(like bobe fett or something) besides it, then he will jump onto it and fly after you.

or

I spawn a "dumb" enemy(like jawas and ugnaughts). Then I grip them, and release them over a swoop, then they will ride it!

"helpusobi 1" or "devmapall" [enter] - to activate the cheats.

then type:

"npc spawn <model name>" [enter] - to spawn the model.

NPCs in Academy are not stored in a single file, they are stored in (many) .npc files in ext_data/npcs.

I've got a new npc i've named "holoreelo" (holoreelo.npc) and I can spawn him into the game via:

npc spawn holoreelo

This works fine. The trouble i'm now having is getting him into the game via gtkradiant, It's for JA sp, but i'm using the GTKRadiant for JK2. I've edited the spentities.def to make npc_holoreelo appear in the entities list, but he is still not appearing in the game - the console gives a message saying "jk2 model successfully converted" but I can only make him appear via the npc spawn command.

Any Ideas?

It's a custom NPC I made myself - it's like reelo from JK2 but i've messed around with the skin and created a shader to make him glow and see through. It's looking pretty good, but as in the above post, I can only get him into the game by npc spawn through the console and not by actually editing the map. Is there a specific entity I need to use to get custom npc's into the game like npc_misc?

Not unless I post it up somewhere and because it's nowhere near finished and I don't have the internet in the house that won't be happening for a while. To create a new npc just add an .npc file to your ext_data/npcs (cheers idontlikegeorge), specify the model you want to use inside it, and use the

npc spawn MyNpc

command to view it. Getting it to start on the map via radiant is the problem i'm having now - I've tried creating an NPC_HoloReelo in the entities list in radiant, which I can add to a map, but it's just not processing properly. Is there another entity I should be using to get custom or miscellaneous NPC's into the game?

Found it! In the latest JA entities.def there is a:

NPC_spawner

entity.

Use the NPC_type key to insert it into the game - in my case the key will be:

NPC_type
HoloReelo

I've been using the old entities.def so it's no wonder i've been running around in circles. I hope this helps anyone who'd like to see more NPC's in the game apart from stormtroopers and rodians

It should be easy enough to do - for example: HoloTavion

Extract all the models to your base directory.

Copy the Tavion folder (we won't bother with Tavion_new) to HoloTavion (\base\models\players\HoloTavion)

Update the default.skin to reflect the change in the path (rename models\players\tavion\whatever.jpg to models\players\holotavion\whatever.jpg).

Mess about with the skins in Photoshop or Paintshop Pro - you will have to learn how to use alpha channels for the transparency.

Create a new shader in the shaders directory - you can call it HoloTavion for example - I use ShaderEd, so browse to one of her tga files (models\players\holotavion\whaever.tga) - you can then select the blend function from within ShaderEd - make sure you set the background button on to tell if you can see through it or not (GL_ONE, GL_ONE is usually sufficient).

If you open the shader up in notepad you can add the line "glow" under the blend function to get the dynamic glow/super framerate hit effect. Unfortunately, ShaderEd2 doesn't support this (yet) so it will have to be done manually. Ignore the message if you reopen the shader in shaderEd

That's the model and graphics side finished.

Now I couldn't be bothered to fiddle with the AI or anything, so if you can't be arsed either then all you have to do is copy tavion.npc (or any .npc file) to holotavion.npc, open it up in notepad, change ALL entries from tavion to holotavion and voila! A fully functioning new NPC - to get it in the game either:

npc spawn holotavion

or create an npc_spawner entity in radiant and give it the key

npc_type "holotavion" and this should bring it up as well

If this has been put up on another thread then i'm sorry for the repeat. Also I have no idea at all about scripting or behaved - that's what i'm trying to work out now

Also add scale=200 to the .npc file for BIG tavion!:)

Alternatively make it glow! When people aim at you their frame rate will go through the floor! *note* This is what is called cheating so don't do it, but watching a holographic ugnaught kicking all sorts of sith butt would be funny:)

We are getting a bit off topic, but it does say npc_list and we are, sort of, talking about npcs, just bad-ass holographic ugnaught ones!

Time, my friend, or the complete lack of. Also I'm still learning the ropes so once i've got something worth releasing, i'll connect up my trusty old 56k and get it on the internet. My main connection is in work, so I might start posting my shader and texture files after i've loaded them onto a couple of floppies (broadband? cd-rom? what are these futuristic technologies?)

Man, It's really easy to create a holo pack... Actually, I think I could create one... now... I mean, why not?

I would make 'em just "half invisible", like the "ghost morgan" skin.

Just tell me what models to use.

Yeah, it is easy enough but I currently don't have time to sit down and change a load of paths in skin files or copy and paste shaders at the moment - the perils of having to juggle work and a girlfriend with my main love of Jedi Knight.

At the moment all these holographic npc's do is act exactly like their non-holo counterparts - i've been designing them to act as holographic adverts for a Coruscant level i'm doing - take a look at the speeder chase in AOTC for loads of examples. Unfortunately all they do at the moment is look at you with a blank expression doing nowt, but they'd be fine for multiplayer as they are.

What I was doing (different to morgan katarn) was opening the skin tga files in photoshop and doing an edge detect (find edges in photoshop) and inverting the colours - it comes out a bit like Tron, but with the glow looks cool as f**k. Adjusting all the alpha channels to get the transparency "just so" takes up a huge amount of time - i'll try and post what i've done so far tomorrow

But I was also thinking of MP. It would be very easy to make some normal skins/models to get replaced by a "holo"-version of it. Just add some shaders and new icons, and you're done!

The problem is that they would be ghosts in SP too.

yeah, you wouldn't even have to create a new npc - just add a holographic skin to the same model - you could drop a holo.skin into any model directory and have that as a separate skin -

How does a Holo Sidious like off the beginning of EP1 sound?

Your Ugnaught is a bit see through isn't he? I can see it now slicing up a load of unsuspecting noobies - killed by an ugnaught:) HA HA (A mean, holographic, saber wielding bitch of an ugnaught though)

Yes, very funny indeed!

but I think the wookie would be a bit harder to do, because of all the hair. But I dunno. Haven't tried.

i know im a noob and all when i cant even fig out how to spawn npc's in a Mp server of my own so could sum one give me the cmd for it plz i know it isnt same as SP or is it i tried and tried and it dont work im so flabergasted it isnt even funny....

Lankyframe, to spawn MP vehicles in a server the server must have cheats enabled. type /NPC Spawn <npcname> for an npc and /npc spawn vehicle <vehiclename> for vehicles.

I saw a "ghost" skin pack at jk2files. it makes all models in SP appear like morgan (ghost type)

yes that would be cool. but it would be better one anyone release a pack where all great model´s from jo are as mp bots and npc´s for sp. like yarael poof, yoda,mace windu, kit fisto,mace windu,ki adi mundi, shaak ti, plo koon,.......
but with their real size.

ugh. I'm not gonna redownload all those characters again. PLus they'll work like **** becaues they havn't been converted to JA. Try spawning RebornAcrobat and you'll see what I mean.

but they are converted i tested the mod and it works fine you must only have the models of the npc´s in your base file.

if I put this .pk3 in my base and try to load any maps.. here errer messege

you must extract it to you game data folder not in the base. then there must be a folder called NPC Pack Version 2. then start the jasp.exe and go to setup in the menu and click mod where you can load the mod. but it´s only works in sp. in mp that error with npc extension comes.

because i can play the mod but only in sp. i load a mp map like
devmap mp/duel3 then i spawn some npc´s and battle. only the mod and the mara model give me extra npc´s. i don´t know how i can help anymore. as i said only in sp.

I already made a few myself but am having trouble getting the cloeman trebor, zam wesell and kiadi mundai models working.
Any1 know why or how. I used the rodian.npc for zam and normal kyle for the other 2 the model names appear to be correct but they wont spawn ?

Yeah, Playermodel then whatever the directory of Yoda is, example,

Playermodel Yoda

Look in the Npc file you made and where it says Playermodel, then whatever you put there is the command in the console you put. :)
