View Full Version : Need Help - Can't align textures on patches...

The Surface editor for JO used to have a separate window for editing textures on patches, but since I dl'ed the editor for JA that GothicX mentioned, the surface editor is different, and is seemingly missing the functions I need from the surface editor, like CAP for instance. Any ideas where those functions went?

It's just Shift+S after selecting the mesh.

thanks, that used to be built into the Surface editor for JO...

Shift+S was also in the previous versions. I contacted the GTK developers, and the normal menu will probably be back.

Great, I was unaware of the Shift S for the older versions, because it was built into the surface editor. More convenient if you ask me...

Depends how you worked, Cap/Fit etc are great if all you want is basic control over meshes but if you want to truly control how a texture fits to a mesh, you need Shift+S, I've always used it to control exactly how my textures look on meshes...saying that I rarely use meshes for basic stuff like patches etc, they tend to form corridors and so on and so need to be manipulated extensively.

I use patches more than meshes, so the Surface Editor worked for me in JO...

Um..."patch meshes" are one thing...patches = meshes...

Ok my definition was loose but I think we both meant patches as in the stuff people use the most - cylinder and caps, we both knew what we meant but used poor english, I apologise :p

I'm starting to pick up some really advanced patch creation and texturing techniques from ydnar, a guy named K (http://fwcf.gamedesign.net) wrote a huge guide on patches, creation, texturing, more than most of all know combined. He never released it. :(
