View Full Version : How many games have you played online?_

…and of the ones you’ve played, which ones do you think are the best for online multiplayer gaming? So far I’ve only played three ~ Halo, TRON 2.0, and RTCW. They’re all fun in different ways so I have no complaints. I had a couple of gripes for TRON multiplayer, but they’ve already eliminated just about every problem with the upgrade patches and they’ve got more on the way (if only ALL developers were so quick to fix problems…). To log into gamespy arcade, one would think that Halo is the only online game anyone ever plays… so it would be nice to see people talk about other online games you play.

BTW, if anyone has gotten past the second or third level where you have to jump up to the next hallway in the corrupted sector, I could use a helpful hint or two. Kinda stuck there. Need to move on so I can see some of the levels still to come, such as the central hub ~ can't wait to get there;

Is Blackhawk Down on PC? If you're playing games on PC, you should download the TRON 2.0 demo (http://www.tron20.net). It really is a beautiful game. I love military shooters, so if Blackhawk Down is really good and on Xbox or PC, I'll definitely give it a try, despite the fact that I already have about 20 unfinished games across the four platforms!

(another lovely TRON pic; )

the best online game by far was Rogue Spear. I played that game for 3 years, i just couldent stop playing. I'm stuck with old online games like Rogue Spear and Star Craft untill i get a computer that can handle all these graphics.

Battlefield 1942 looks amazing and so does every new game compared to my ancient PC games.

I've not played as many as you all - I was really into console games for the past 16 years now..I started out with Asherson's Call 1, and played that till I got bored and then switched over to Everquest..but I did not like it and stopped..I have SWG but have not had the time to play

I don't like Delta Force any more.
It was great in the beginning, watch out for my sniper fire. :p
But I got tired of the choppyness. :(
Got tired of it as early as in Delta Force 2. (never played 1 :D )

Homeworld (with Star Wars Mod)
Yeah, that kicked ass, but it was very unstable for me on single player. :(

The 6 player maps are huge.

hmmm... I dunno.... I'm sure for the game, they'd scale it down a tad, but who knows. I just what my sweet, sweet Star Destroyer action.

I checked how large the Death Star would be, and it would cover the arena. :D
But it would fit. :)

Well, the first anyway, the second is kinda big. :D

They could also change the scale in the game couldn't they?

Jan Gaarni

Yes, of course, but it just wouldn't be the same. :)

And if they rescaled everything we wouldn't be able to see the fighters. :D

Hell, we wouldn't be able to see most of the frigate classes. ;)

Hey, StarWarsPhreak, you have any idea how to make a badge for HomeWorld II?

I can't figure it out. :(

Sounds Risky
11-21-2003, 12:08 AM
My avatar is my Homeworld2 badge :D

You just need to make a 64x64 32bit Targa image. Then place that in your Homeworld2\Bin\Profiles\Badges folder.

Jan Gaarni
11-21-2003, 04:59 AM
I have made it a targa 32-bit 64x64 pixel badge, AND placed it in the right directory, uncompressed.

I've even tried to save it as a 24bit targa file, no luck. :(

So I don't understand how people are doing it really. :(

swphreak
11-21-2003, 10:11 AM
I can't possibly make one. No program other than paint. My avy is also my HW2 badge. I'm not getting how they do it either.

edit: Wait, Jan, are you saving it as a ".targa" extension? I've downloaded a couple in that format and it didn't work. When I renamed it to a ".tga" extension, it worked for me.

Sounds Risky
11-21-2003, 05:15 PM
I didn't know there was such an extension as .targa, I've always used .tga.

If you can, PM me with your e-mail addy and I'll send it to you, with instructions on what I want translucent and semi translucent. :)

Well, I got the badge back, and was very psyched to try it out after seeing the pictures. :)
And thanks for re-doing it. I couldn't draw a straight line if my life depended on it. :D

Sadly, my idiocy struck me again when I bought Call of Duty and for some reason chose to install DirectX 9.01b. So now I can't play Call of Duty, Half-Life and the Mod Day of Defeat, and worst of all, HomeWorld 2. :(

Call of Duty worked fine as a demo before I installed DirectX 9.01b, but even the demo fails to launch now. Same with HomeWorld, worked fine before, can't launch it now. :(

Half-Life and DoD worked even after I installed the new version of DirectX, but there's a new feature to it now called Steam, which I seriously hope I have just installed incorrectly or missing some key files, since it's my favorite passtime game while the servers are down, or when I don't feel like playing SWG.

But anyway, thanks again a bunch for correcting the problem, and for re-doing it for me. :)
I guess when they said 64x64 they ment 64x64, and not 62x62 or lower. :D

Played Tron but it didnt gripped me... never played it online.
Played Halo for PC but not online.

Recomendation: Buy Half life. Even though the engine is outdated this title will be alive long after HL2 releases. You get tons of mods. People who cant handle HL2 will still be playing this, and its only 25 bucks.
