View Full Version : JO SP maps in JA MP

Is this possible? I'm just about to put yavin_final.bsp from JO in my base/maps folder. Let's see if this will work. I will tell you soon

EDIT: It did work to play. Some textures are missing here and there, and the scenes are not working. Even though I took the JK2 scripts just for this map, and the textures, it solved just a tiny bit of the problem. I will continue to try.

UPDATE: I copied all the assets.pk3s from JO to JA, not replacing the JA assets. This added the possibility of hearing Desanns voice, and some of the scenes worked 25%. The textures are all there, like when you slice the water pipe so you can put out the fire, it feels just like JK2. All I can say is, you won't see any cutscenes. Atleast the effects and the voices are there, and the textures.

So, other than the cutscenes, everything else works? And do the cutscenes simply not play, or do you get stuck at the spots where there the cutscenes are supposed to be triggered?

were do you find the .bsp file anyway? I looked for them and they don't show up anyplace

i had JO, i uninstalled, i lost cd :( :(

so if u ever get it to work 100% will u stick it up on pcgamemods asa a mod????

cause then i might be able to dwld it.

I don't think Raven/Lucasarts would allow that to happen. It's one thing to port the MP maps and release those as a mod...but it's something totally different to port SP over. If JO SP was simply downloadable for play in JA...then they would obviously lose sales for JO. They'd slap a copyright notice on you in a hot minute...

Not to mention no one is likely to host a 500+ Meg "mod".

Hmm... To get the cutscenes to work, I think I will need to run the map in SP instead of MP, seeing as MP is not made for cutscenes.

I might post screenshots... If I find a damn image host

And the cutscenes won't play yes, when I came into the room where Kyle sees 3 Desanns running away, instead you just hear the voice like ''Hahaha'' or whatever. But they don't do anything.

I just tried it in SP... Works better, the cutscenes are playing, but it shows Kyle instead of whatever model you are. Just one single missing texture, and Kyle turns invisible in the last cutscenes (when he and Desann meet in the big room.)

So I finally killed Desann, and it showed him dying and all that like in JO. But then, Kyle was supposed to jump up. Instead, he jumped up and came back falling down to the ground, and died.
There, the music was playing, and it just showed Kyles and Desanns dead bodies. I laughed my ass off.

I'm just report my experiments here, I'm not gonna publish it, since it is too big, too buggy for a release, and Raven and their Copyright is also a problem.

Indeed. But I hope someone out there is clever enough to make a mod/laucher where you play JO SP(with JA character) without as many bugs and without having to input console commands, as long as you have the jo asetts.pk3 files somehwere on your drive.... Is this type of thing possible ??

Prime - you were the FIRST to put forward this import JO asetts.pk3 trick. I requested this to be STUCK in the mapping forum, as it was so commonly asked. Mr KURGAN was nice enough to oblige.... :)
