Well, here's my opinons...

SP-
One of the best I've ever played for a Star Wars game. Even though it's easier than SP JO, the replay value is MUCH better. I've played through the SP game more times in the few months of having JA than the entire year that I've owned JO. If SP is your thing, JA will not disappoint.

MP-
It has its high and low points. Siege mode is definitely a blast to play, particularly the Hoth and Desert maps. Power duel is a pretty good idea, and it's fairly fun to play from time to time. Regular Duel is excellent, no one saber type dominates the other. (IMO, I know some will disagree with me on that) However, there's something about FFA's that seem to make them a bit inferior to JO's FFA for some reason. Same with Capture the Flag; the JA CTF maps seem a bit too "open" and "airy," not the claustrophobic madness and congested bottlenecks that made JO CTF so fun.

Whether JA could have been an expansion is debatable, but I'll stick my neck out and say that it probably couldn't. The SP mode alone has so many changes to it (a.k.a. new Force powers, customizable characters and lightsabers, all sorts of new enemies and creatures, new maps, etc.) that it rather demands that it be a separate game. Taking MP's new features into account, (roughly twice as many selectable characters, new maps, Power Duel and Siege mode) the decision to make JA a separate game was probably a wise choice.

wow, very nice.

I hope that better maps will come out, and I can garente I will make lots of ffa and ctf maps when I get jk3. :) :) :) :) :)

Also, one more thing Iwould like to ask.

What do you think about Vehicles?

Actullay if you go to game review sites, they get lower then 90 percent.

While jk2 got above 90. I think gamespot gave it a 8.6, And PCG gave it 86%.

As for the game:

Highs: Awesome effects; lots of cool new saber moves and acrobatics; deep MP options, new ragdoll physics.

Lows: A few bugs, dumb AI (sometimes), numerous cutsence bugs.

SP: Short & easy, but fun. Weak character development (but you get to customize the look of your character a little bit), weak dark/light "choice" (but at least you CAN choose, unlike the past two games in the series).

MP: Tons of fun (the patch fixes most of the problems with the intial release, though there is a lot of untapped potential (in terms of Siege for example) and lots of variety. A few annoying problems remain like poor bot support though. If you want the gameplay to be identical to JK2, you won't be happy (try some of the mods that are coming out for it though, which purport to restore some of that old magic). Has its own unique charm, with many of the features we've been wanting in the series for a long time (like scripted events, AI npc's, drivable vehicles, true class based objective based gameplay, decent dual/saberstaff combat, melee fighting, etc).

SP: average. if you like good graphics and pressing forward+attack and moving your mouse a little, its your game. couldnt be any simpler. The story line is actually probably the worst part of the game. oh no... a mysterious "cult" is out to kill everyone, better get the whole jedi academy on this one fast!

MP: well... more button mashing (or press mouse 1+hold). guns are good, (for a SW game). if you want MP action for sabers though, id suggest jk2. Actually, since it's dead, play on xmod 2.0 servers for s/o ctf because its damn boring as hell in base JA. if your just here for gunning down random brainless people get ut2k3.

The vehicles are a blast to play with. Unfortunately, there aren't that many opportunities to use them in SP, but it's awesome when you do. The swoop bike level was perhaps my favorite level in the SP game!

As for MP, vehicles are usually only selectable in MP's Siege mode. However, there's also creatures that are in Siege mode. It's pretty fun to fight your opponents

and a rancor at the same time.:D

Moreover, there's some mods for MP such as JKR (Jedi Knight Racing) and Kotor Flight School that allow for almost exclusive vehicle mode use. There's even been new vehicles made by modders that you can use!

The only problem is that only twelve different vehicles are possible to store in the game at this point in time. (including custom ones)

Why does jk2 have better saber combat?
and why is ctf boring in JA?

and Neverhoodian what do you mean by 12 vehicles in the game?
can there only be 12 in one map or something?

Sorry that I was a bit vague about that. I mean you can only have up to 12 different vehicles (including the default ones) in JA's base folder. Any subsequently added vehicles won't load.

JA mp is a significantly slowed/watered down version of jk2 mp. I recommended xmod2.0 servers because you dont just sit there flayling kata/holding mouse1+forward and chasing people(which is the nature of base jka). in the xmod2.0 servers kick has been reintroduced, therefore s/o ctf is now playable (in base jka there was no way to stop an fc unless he stops moving, because movement speed is reduced so much)

do you ever use force_speed?

thelastaod
12-05-2003, 05:36 AM
it seems you misunderstand me. of course you use speed, but so does the fc. the fc aint gonna stand around annd spin katas around, hes gonna run away to stay alive and cap. if he has an energizer, the process takes forever. you, on the other hand barely ever have enough force because now it takes 1/2 your force bar to do a special. the game is rediculous now, its less meaningful than solitare

Really...so you'd rather play Solitaire than JA?

Well, everyone's entitled to their own opinion and some are bound to dislike JA, but I would rather play a Star Wars JO-esque game that allows me to use multiple types of lightsabers in a heavily modified Quake 3 arena engine than use a mouse to click and drag static cards on top of other cards where the most exciting thing that happens is that the cards bounce around during the one or two times you actually win the game.

But, if you dislike JA that much, I won't argue. To each his/her own.

I think you should get the following Mods (they greatly enhance the JA experience!):

-JKII_voices_3.0.pk3 (UPDATE. gives the unique taunts back to JK2 characters and gives multiple taunts in Duel/PowerDuel)
http://www.pcgamemods.com/3043/

-JKII_ffa.pk3 (JK2 FFA converted map pack)
http://www.pcgamemods.com/2320/

-JKII_duel.pk3 (JK2 Duel converted map pack)
http://www.pcgamemods.com/2315/

-JKII_ctf.pk3 (JK2 CTF converted map pack)
http://www.pcgamemods.com/2319/

-OJP (OpenJediProject) Basic (various tweaks and fun features like RGB sliders for custom Jedi)
http://www.lucasfiles.com/?s=&action=file&id=309

-DDS Ibots Smarter, Faster, Angrier bots!
http://www.lucasfiles.com/index.php?action=file&id=376

-DDS Re-routed Bots navigate the FFA and CTF maps much more intelligently and are therefore more challenging.
http://www.lucasfiles.com/index.php?action=file&id=375

-Jawa team skins Makes the Jawa skin selectable in the Profile menu with icons, and gives him red and blue skins for TFFA and CTF. Never get confused again!

great I will use that if and when I get JA!

Kurgan, whats the difference between administrator and moderator?

Kurgan
12-07-2003, 10:10 PM
Well basically, Moderators are limited to a specific forum(s).

Super Moderators are like moderators but they can "roam free" so to speak. I believe they also have the power to ban a user (while a regular Moderator does not).

Administrators are like super moderators except they can make changes to the boards (ie: add/remove/edit forums, change styles, mass prune, change rules, appoint/remove moderators, etc) as well as IP ban and unban people.

Admins have the highest level of authority and control over the forums, whereas Moderators have the least (except for regular registered users). Mods have real power only in their respective forum(s).

Though sometimes people (when speaking of them) generically lump all "forum leaders" into the category of Moderators, which is ok.

The forums are governed basically by a "council of admins" (my unofficial title for it) which includes some respected positions for site owners. The individual moderators and super moderators are under their authority.

It is one of the best games I have ever played in both respect to SP and MP.

SpecialForces

thats good :)

Ok, here goes:

SP:

Good:
- Great level design
- Excellent saber fights
- Cool SFX
- Great VFX
- Lots of missions
- New mission choosing system
- Huge variety in locations
- Movie character appearances
- Character Creation

Bad:
- Crap voice acting (Jaden especially)
- No dismemberment (but this can be changed)
- Poor AI
- Weak story
- Some cutscene bugs
- Graphics haven't been improved much (I guess this goes for SP and MP)
- None of the characters have much of a personality

MP

Good:
- Siege Mode
- Great new maps
- Power Duel
- Tons more customization options
- MP only moves

Bad:
- Buggy server joining thing (I forget what its called)
- Sabers are still pretty weak
- Only 3 Siege maps
- Lack of new force powers for MP

Overall, the game is good if you prefer gameplay over story and characterisation. The graphics aren't too good (the engine can do better, look at CoD).
Multiplayer has been spoiled by ____(you probably know what)___ but Chop Shop servers are a hell of a lot of fun.

Call of Duty.

WW2 first person shooter thats just come out. It uses the Q3 engine and has a big emphasis on team work. And has an amazing Stalingrad level.

Yeah, I played Chop Shop CTF last night, and it was a hell of a lot of fun. :)

Pros:
SP:Light/Dark option
Character customization (purely cosmetic)
Great Saber choosing option
Very satisfying to rip stormies apart
Good dismemberment
Ragdoll physics enhances force grip no end and lightning, i could wack stormies off cliffs with chopped legs all day.
Much Much better level design than jk2
Old mp powers in sp put to good use
Bosses are in this game but are realistic and don't seem put in there just because it's the end of a level.
Better than jk2 by far
MP: Easy to beat most spammers
All saber types are used
Excellent level design compared to jk2's boring maps
The game takes a rock paper scissors approach so it takes a bit of skill beat the superior - to-that-style- style.......
Seige is a good gametype
very good feeling when you clear out an entire server
Good CVARS for servers

Cons:
SP:
graphics are no better than jk2 unless you count the useless effects which have been added for no reason other than to make it look different from jk2.
short actually
can't be seduced by the dark side
No character development.
MP:
Red is almost the only good stance for single now (mastering other stances enabled you to beat many reds in jk2), except for lunging and yellow kata which is easily beaten by a good player.
******* mp players... not the game's fault though.
duelling player hear the chat.
Seige is far too laggy.
Admin mods
BLOODY HIT DETECTION.

Much better than jk2... im' too tried to type well *falls asleep*
