Hahahahaha, good topic:D . I used to believe in Santa Clause until one day when I thought about it and it the whole idea seemed unrealistic (you know, one man flying the whole world in one night). I also found our 'cards' that my sister and I 'wrote to Santa' in the Study behind some books where my Dad had hidden them. I then told my mum that I didn't believe in Santa Claus anymore and she said, "Well if you don't believe in Santa Clause you won't get presents from him". I then quickly became a believer again so I could get my presents (but only pretended to believe). Then I just grew out of it, told my parents what I thought and then they admitted.:D

I used to belive in Sant Claus, until there was an incident above my street involving Santas sled and a boieng 747, inn wich santa ended up on the highway with Rudolphs horns through him…:(

after that there has always been some ignorant trying to keep the legend alive by dressing as him

I never believed in him, mostly because as a substitute here in Belgium and The Netherlands we have Sinterklaas (in which i believed as a child) Sinterklaas is each 6th of december

I never really believed, but I enjoyed trundling over to the fire place when I was but a wee brat for extra presents

:D

We (my brother and sister) still hang our stockings, but since we're all over the age of ten :D its decorative.

Unless, of course, "Santa" slips a sweet $50 into that stocking....

I used to believe in Santa Claus. Then one cruel Christmas Eve, I stayed up too late, and when I heard a noise downstairs, I crept to the top of the stairs to hear better....and instead of a jolly ho-ho-ho, I heard my parents talking and bringing in presents from the garage where they were hidden. I lost my innocence that night. (No! Not like THAT!)

It's a joint-operation, you see. It's Obi-Clause(myself), and Yoda, aka Yoda Cringle.

He takes the Eastern Hemisphere, I take the west.

IG-64
12-06-2003, 09:35 PM
 @ yoda cringle

I never belived in santa, my parents never tell me lies (I think >_> <_<) and, Sam, i never said santa wasn't real, i simply asked if you belived in santa :xp:

Technical reason why I don't think santa is real: It's impossible to go around the world in one night because it is always day on one side of the world

Practicle reason: cmon, flying reindeer? toymaking elves in the north pole? magical powers to go down chimneys ?

but I think santa is fine as long as you know he's fake, then you can fantasize about him (no you sick freak)

I used to believe.
All the kids at my school stopped.
Then I stopped.
Then my mom told me he wasnt real.
Then I told my dad I dont believe in him anymore.
He seemed so sad that day, like sad that I was growing up.

There was my life story.

I believe in the Santa we teach our kids about, as it is much more about the magical spirit of joy, love and giving than the guy who gives you stuff ...

I don't care if Santa is real or not, I just go with tradition. Now if Kyle Katarn were Santa Claus, that's a different story for another day.

I believed in Santa up to the age of about 9 or 10. I remember being extremely excited Christmas Eve and I tried to stay up as long as possible so I could hear Santa putting my presents under the tree and in my stocking, then one night I did manage to stay up, I heard a noise so I squinted my eyes and pretended to be asleep and low and behold I see my mum sneak in my room and fill up my stocking. ='(

I got a little suspicious when I noticed the presents from Santa had the same wrapping paper and signed in the same handwriting as the presents from my parents!

it would be fun to still believe when you're at least 15.....right?

I wouldn't want my kids believing in Santa (at least not the commercial version) at 15. As it is now, they know that Mommy and Daddy are the 'purveyors of Stuff' and that Santa brings only a couple of things to everyone in the world. We are big on charity, and spend a lot of time shopping for kids in need. Our kids see Santa as providing what is needed for those in need - blankets, a jacket, and we help out with some toys. The joy of giving is something I hope my kids hold onto through their lives.

I used to believe... probably because my dad would dress up as Santa and visit people... he'd always go out in his little red car and when he came back, we'd see him for a little bit, but then he'd always go into my parents room and come out as dad... not sure when I figured out what happened, but I have known about it for a while.
