Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein is believed to have been captured in a raid near his hometown of Tikrit, U.S. military officials say.

I have my doubts that this will change the current situation in Iraq significantly,... but perhaps that's a topic better suited for the Senate Chambers forum.

I believe there will be even more violence then before. The loyalists will want revenge...
But he's finally captured. That's one hell of a good thing.

It's not the loyalists I'm worried about. They will eventually disband and fade away.
It's all the extremists who want to turn Iraq into a Taliban or Iranian-style theocracy who have been holding back from going after American forces for fear that driving Coalition troops out too soon might allow Saddam to regain power. Now they no longer need to worry about that.
