Here is some of my work in MS Paint. Its actually an awesome program, and its really easy to operate. I have been making portraits of family members in it, but decided to have a little fun. I will add more later. Enjoy!

BTW, the tv remote was orobably the hardest single item to make, but the Fbox took the longest. I probably spent 4-5 hours on these alone.

Feel free to make your own masterpieces, and share. Or give me input on what you like or dislike about the pictures, or if you have any ideas for me or others to create.

Until next time, goodbye.

You should try doing that in photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. It would save a lot of time methinks.

actually there a few reasons why art like this is made in paint. paint offers the most simple of tools and it's a bitmap program, there is no anti-aliasing making pictures like mine MUCH easier and more accurate than what could be achieved in photoshop or paint shop pro

Torque, perhaps you should consider graphical design at a later stage using more advaced programs. Mastering Paint is a great way to start. Alternatively, computer work like AutoCAD would also be an option. ;)

i draw actually pretty much everything...the DBZ style stuff is what's most requested from me. and thank you that's a compliment knowin that i can draw better than cartoonist that get payed to do that for a living. and i just do it for fun.

i do have a bit of other pics non DBZ/GT related that i'd show but i'm currently outta space at the moment

here's one of myself as a cartoon.

I'll ask him if I'm allowed to post some of his work here. Some pictures are pretty funny actually.

@ Lynk alot of ppl don't seem to like DBZ because it's the same crap over and over

life is fine
bad guy shows up and hurts ppl
must get stronger to defeat badguy
badguy is gone life is fine once again

the only reason why i like the show is cuz of the animation was so advanced for it's time.

my style i aim for anime or japanimation. when i draw somethings i try to steer away from the DBZ style cuz that's really all ppl want to see me draw. i have a pic callabo of ICP i drew i'll post here sometime and let ya'll peep it.

A 15-minute sketch in MS Paint. I pulled it into PSP7 to crop it and save as a .jpg file. Otherwise, it's untouched.

I use a Wacom Intuous (http://www.wacom-europe.com/uk/products/intuos2/intuos_a4_reg.asp) graphics tablet. Not that model (I've got the earlier one). They do a range of graphics tablets, from low price to high price. There are obviously other manufacturers of similar products, but I find Wacom to be the best.

It's basically a flat tablet that comes with a special pen, which you place on the surface of the tablet to draw. It has a greater dpi than a mouse, and so you have a lot more fine control over the cursor on the screen. If you can sketch with a pencil...you can do the same with a graphics tablet.

If you're serious about art on a PC, then I strongly recommend getting a graphics tablet.

Never say never. I consider that a challenge...

RoxStar
12-27-2003, 06:54 PM
You would need to work with very fine brush tips and at about 1000 times zoom to be able to get close to that with a standard mouse on MS-Paint.

why don't you just... do it on paper? It's the same thing

I do sketch on paper. In fact, most of my art starts on paper, then I scan it in and modify it to my needs.

But this thread is about MS Paint...and I was just trying to illustrate what is achievable with the right tools in a comparatively short time. A lot of people seem to believe MS Paint is very simplistic and not capable of anything except precise pixel art. This is obviously not the case. Pick up a cheap graphics tablet (£30-£50) and you can achieve a great deal...

Anyway...I'll work on another pic using only a mouse, and see what I can come up with. It's not impossible (though it is difficult), because I used to draw with a mouse a long time ago in a program called Deluxe Paint.

IG-64
12-28-2003, 09:59 AM
£30-£50? That's not cheap, thats like, 60-100 in US $

Icemaniax
12-28-2003, 10:35 AM
European Union euro to United States dollar
30.00 euro = 37.39 US$

Subdivisions: 1 euro = 100 euro-cents; 1 US$ = 100 cents

I think thats right..

what? I belive he was talking about pounds wich I think 1 £ = 2 $

Well, it's currently about $1.75 = £1.00

Yes, I expect that is expensive if you have a limited income. However, it has to be better than the £250 I paid for my Wacom. ;)

Anyway, true to my word, here is a pic I drew on Deluxe Paint about 15 years ago, using a mouse...

http://www.stormhammer.echonetwork.net/Graven.jpg

Crappy, I know. :(

And here is one that I painted just now...took me about 1 hour...

http://www.stormhammer.echonetwork.net/Antman.jpg

If I gave it a little more time, it would look a lot better. But I can't be bothered at the moment... Apologies for the large size, but I made it at 1024x768, and compressed it by 50% already.

I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, but I let it slide for a long time. I've only got back into my art in the past few years, really, and I'm improving all the time.
