Greetings.

I'm new to the KOTOR modding scene, so I don't know whats what. My question is, is it possible to have more than one mod at once? I noticed that the appearance.2da files overwrite each other in certain mods...I don't know what they do, and rather than taking a chance, I came here, seeking help. However, even looking through all the guides and stuff, I found no information that answered my question. Perhaps one of you guys can?

Any help or feedback is appreciated. (As i've been forum browsing for an hour now...grrr.)

Im no expert, but I can tell you that when trying to run multiple mods, they will often overwrite one another.

Many of the mods modify the same .2da files, so the only way to run more than once is to combine the .2das together.

Just don't ask me how to do that. :)

You can run multiple mods just fine, however, generally speaking any mod that has a file named the same as another mod (such as appearance.2da) cannot be run at the same time "as-is".

As Bunk said, in those cases, the repeated files will need to be manually combined in order to get them both to work at once.

Depending on just which mods you have in mind, it can range from rather simple to moderately complex to actually do. :)

Ah well. I knew it was more than an easy find, cut and paste job. I guess i'll just have to beat KoToR each time trying a different mod..

Actually, in a lot of cases, that's pretty much what it is. You'd need to use Kotor_Tool, and open up both the 2da files in question. Take the changes that one of them makes and add those to the changes the other one makes.

Like I said though, how extensive those changes are and just where and what they are exactly will depend on each mod in question.

It's not usually that bad, but I guess it also depends on how much understanding you have of the game files. It would probably be fairly daunting for someone who hasn't poked around in there a bit.

Correct, but sometimes even combining the mods is not enough. Example: If you're familiar with the Yuthura mod, the appearance.2da is a very common file, as well as a necessity to this mod. You may have to end up changing the source code. (Which will give you many, many headaches)
