so your saying that the pic of kyle on the top of the screen IS kyle KATARN from jedi knight? there was never a real star wars movie with KYLE KATARN?

Kyle Katarn was never in a Star Wars movie.

The guy who played Kyle Katarn in JK2 would look pretty old by now. He wouldn't be in a movie. A movie wiht Kyle Katarn in it... hmm...

The actor who played Kyle Katarn was Jason Court.

He featured in the cut-scenes from the game Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, which was the sequel to the original Dark Forces game. Jedi Knight was released in 1997, so it's not really that long ago. Jason Court also provided the voice for Kyle throughout the game, to improve continuity.

There has never been a film about Kyle Katarn. However, there was a trilogy of books released which fleshed out the story around the game Jedi Knight. The titles are:

Soldier For the Empire
Rebel Agent
Jedi Knight

They're quite good, actually, and give you a great deal more background to the character of Kyle - how he once served in the Empire, how he was betrayed and fell in with the Rebellion, etc.

It would have been nice to see Jason Court return to the role of Kyle in Jedi Outcast - however, they decided to go with in-game cut scenes and a few pre-rendered CGI scenes. Probably due to budget constraints - I understand the FMV cut scenes in Jedi Knight were quite expensive, what with hiring actors, doing blue screen work, then the CGI effects, and pulling it all together.
