I'm here but I guess we are giving up on a new RTS its been 4 years and still nothing :(

05-05-2004, 09:39 AM
I have the game...

05-05-2004, 09:42 AM
We aren't all dead. We are just mostly dead. There is a difference between mostly dead and all dead. At least there have been threads that have been posted in the last 10 days....

I am usually here once or twice a week. I am usually in the Star Wars Battlefront forum talking about that. Besides that game, I don't have much to look forward to video game wise since I am a playstation 2 star wars player.

Hmmm...so this is the last thread alive...I wish more people would come post here...
I wish LEC would announce something...

They probably read the discussions here and lost the will to live... ;)

Hehehe, good one saber.

Yeah, they are probably working in the "Template for convincing people in fan forums to stop making templates for a game that's not gonna happen" :p

I think the Star Wars RTS video game is officially dead. They probably got tired of spending time making strategy games like Force Commander, Rebellion, Galactic Battlegrounds and it's expansion pack. With the success of Jedi Knight and Knights of the Old Republic series I would more sequels with them. Plus they probably are working on a bunch of star wars titles for PC and X-box only. It appears that way to me when I see there official E3 2004 list with Star Wars Galaxies Jump to Lightspeed for PC only, Star Wars Republic Commando for X-box and PC, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords for PC and X-box. I did hear that Asypr is going to release Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic in August, 2004. They only other game is a ***** game called Mercenaries for PS2 and X-box. That game looks terrible. They can't be making that much money off original titles. Just look at the money for RTX Red Rock and Wrath Unleashed. I guess you can throw in Gladius and Secret Weapons Over Normandy also.

They can always contract EA to use their Zero Hour engine and make a SW RTS...

05-07-2004, 07:40 AM
If SW ever team up with EA and use the generals engine ill die.

05-07-2004, 05:34 PM
Oh good, when and where will the funeral be?

05-08-2004, 10:53 PM
Well the fact that Lucas is not stupid enough to team up with EA (but then again they were dumb enough to team with SOE).

Your not invited to my funeral :P

So I stop posting for a few days and the forum is declared dead? Kind of makes me feel special...

But I'm back home now, so a posting I shall go.

As for using the Generals engine, I think in its current state there are too many issues that make it un-Star-Warsy; most notably the lack of using large amounts of infantry and the behaviour of aircraft. However I am extremely interested to see what developments and modifications EA will make to the engine for The Battle For Middle Earth.

I think LA should approach EA for help with a future Star Wars RTS, because the direction EA is taking with TBFME is trying to get it as much like the movies as possible - something that a Star Wars RTS could definitely benefit from.

Wow, you guys really weren't kidding when you said it was dead. I left because I kept getting freaking viruses/trojans from the aggressive pop ups here. But I dont think that a single persaon has been here in a while. Man, I never thought it would happen, but the GD is officially dead.

06-03-2004, 09:35 PM
Eh yeah. The trojans seems to have stopped now. Anyway, we need some new stuff around here.

Check out GB's new chat room.

mIRC click here (irc://irc.gamesurge.net/galacticbattles), or if you don't have mIRC, click here (http://www.gamesurge.net/chat/galacticbattles).

Perhaps we can have discussions in there, and communicate pre-Sunday games.

Yes, it is certainly dead. Everyone has started playing Command and Conquer: Generals: Zero Hour or Empire Earth or Warcraft or they are just waiting for Republic Commando, Battlefront, KotOR 2, or Halo 2.

I'm new to these forums, but i've been playin since the games release. I'm hopin to be around till the sequal, or next SW RTS, and i promise not to make any GB2 threads.:D

06-29-2004, 10:29 AM
I am not dead, for I just posted a new thread! :D

07-03-2004, 05:30 PM
I'm amazed at the difference between this community and heavengames... here everyone's dead and do nothing but come up with ideas for the next game.... there everyones still playing, making awsome scenarios and mods like the Mon Calamari TC and the Aliens project....
