That's pretty cool! And so was the Wrist Rocket Launcher.

Though the game interface needed some more tweaking, the hud was too high up on the screen and taking up too much of the screen space... Just my opinion, I could be wrong. :D

^^^^ I think this is an x box build. Wasn't the E3 demo for x box? Perhaps theres a difference between it & the pc version, not too sure never owned an x box ;)

I like how whatshername kind of hangs back during combat & doesnt run up face to face with a sith lord & start blasting away with a ranged weapon. Something that was kind of missed in K1.

Its so beautiful...I'm going to cry...jk

I like what I see. I didn't know that your facial features would also reflect light or dark side...Actually robes from the movies= a huge plus for me.

Lucasfiles just explained that you'll be able to change your stance each with its strengths and weaknesses. Probably something JK02?

Hmmm.. interesting. Maybe something like, 1 stance increases offence with penalties to defence & vise versa. Or not. Very, very interesting non the less, ahhh 2005 seems so far away...... *continues his wait*

Thanx for the link

This is starting to look a lot like Jedi Academy. (ie: being a clone of the first game with less story.) I guess it's still too early to judge it though.

^^^ God, lets hope not ;) Gameplay, I'm not too concerned with. The devs have already adressed most of my issues with the 1st one IE; repedative animations, lifeless feeling worlds. The story, yeah I'm a tad concerned. From what I've read about these devs, perhaps my fears are unfounded.

Hopefully, the demo is run in a resolution of 640x480 since this will explain it. We might be able to run it in 1024x768. Hopefully that will make the interface much smaller.

It's an X-box build. Surely you can see that from the fact it tells you to press buttons from the X-box controller to do stuff....

Mav you have some latent darkside tendencies there! :D

Force Crush is the cool choice for one-on-one right now, we haven't seen the other new powers yet, but I'll stick to Force Storm / Wave for crowd control! :D

Mav
08-02-2004, 03:27 AM
I prefer to see myself as nuetral, I don't believe in the destructive nature of the Darkside nor do I believe in the restrictions the Jedi put on themselves, sometimes it is necessary to be "destructive" given the right situation ofcourse, and a grudge or two can't hurt. I have to agree with you on one thing though RedHawke I do love the Force Wave althoguh I hope it does more damage this time around.

RedHawke
08-02-2004, 03:37 AM
Actually, I don't know what my preferred powers will be right off in KOTOR:TSL.

Obsidian said they were going to have a lot of new powers as well as the ones from KOTOR, and with prestiege classes who knows the levels of desruction we will be able to unleash! :D

Sorry if I was unclear, but I was implying that hopefully they would add some good "offensive" lightside forcepowers.

Ok Mav... I get it now...

Unfortunately there is no such thing as an "offensive" lightside force power. To cause damage you must channel negative emotions, that lightsiders cannot do, Force Wave is a telekinetic blast knocking opponents to the ground and is probably the best damaging power the lightside will get.

Remember;

A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense... never for attack.

Mav

^^^^

Right there, what Yoda just said is my one problem with the Jedi he/she??? said NEVER, that to me is stupid, there are always times when it may be necessary to attack, and I really don't see much difference between say using the force to throw things at your opponent like Vader did, or using the force to jump and attack your opponent with your lightsaber, so I guess it just seems hipocritical to me, UNLESS Yoda means just not to start the fight but once you are in it......anything goes.

RedHawke

You just made my point Mav, the Jedi are so weak against an enemy like the Sith because they rigidly adhere to their rules, and to a Jedi... Never means to Never use the Force for attack... so no lightside massive damaging force powers. It goes against everything the light (life) stands for.

Remember the Jedi adhere to these rules because of tradition, and the constant vigil against the darkside and what it can do.

It is a basic rule of Star Wars if you use the force to directly harm another then that is flatly a dark act, and is darkside.

Using telekinesis to harm an opponent ala Darth Vader is Darkside, while Force Jumping and slashing with a Lightsaber is not, because you are not using the force directly to cause harm.

The game company has to keep this fact in mind when making force powers, lightside is detection and defense, darkside is attack and damage, and that is how it goes.

Maverick you are more a Sith Mid-Master or Mid-Master Jedi than you know. :D

Mav
08-02-2004, 05:10 AM
That is why I would consider myself more nuetral, because I don't approve of killing people for no reason, but I don't adhere to silly rules, either, and as it ended up, my first playthrough actually resulted with my character actually only at about a 60 on the LS-DS scale i.e DS=0-----------50----------100=LS, you know that is also one of the fun things about the game, you can play through the game making the choices that *you* want to make and not playing super LS or super DS and you can figure out what you are, sort of like one of those personality quizzes...lol

RedHawke
08-02-2004, 05:17 AM

Agreed! :D

I did the same thing with my first game, I ended the game around a 50 to 55, I was just a little above the midpoint. :D

I love the no lightside and darkside power penalties as well! :D

Mav

Wow we agree on something!! LOL heck if we can agree on something maybe the Sith and the Jedi will reach an agreement......NAAAAHHHHHHH....lol

I think I am going to do the same thing for my first play-through of KotOR: TSL though, just play it how I want to play it and not worry about being overtly LS or DS and see if I end up nuetral again or if I end up tilted a certain way. We'll just have to see, after all you always run into that annoying NPC that asks you for something and you can't help but "teach them a lesson"...lol I have a feeling I'll end up nuetral again though.

RedHawke

I'll definately do something like that during my first run-through, especially after the KOTOR:TSL preview vid touting your choice will affect the galaxy. It will be fun to see how the game handles a neutral stance.

Mav
08-02-2004, 10:52 PM
I hope there is a nuetral ending choice instead of just LS and DS like KotOR 1 i.e. 1. Destroy Star Forge, or 2. Use Star Forge for evil. I don't know what a nuetral choice would have been in that situation though :p

Emperor Pangasa
08-03-2004, 12:22 AM
I prefer neutral also, that way you don't have to adhere yourself to the strict rules of light and darksides. As for Yoda saying "A jeid uses the force for knowledge and defense, never for attack." I disagree, I don't see anything wrong with using the force to attack, moreover the jedi purging themselves of emotion is to deny the fact of being human.:emperor:

RedHawke

And Emperor Pangasa that is exactly what the Jedi rules are trying to do!

The ultimate Jedi according to their own rules would be a Star Trek Vulcan, Calm, Passive, and no emotions.

I also believe that in EP3 that those very rules will help the Jedi fall. But that is just my speculation! :D

Hiroki

Jedi forget that there emotions are not the enemy themselves, it is a complete lack of control over there emotions that harm they and those around them that should be avoided.

To deny being human is foolish, you are a creature with emotions, it is knowing when to control them, that is important. Not trying to purge them completely. Remember, anger, and hate may be emotions, but so is compassion.

A Jedi should not use the force to attack, unless it is to defend an innocent. He should never use it to gain wealth, or kill only for vengeance, though if get that through doing 'justice'; then it might not be so bad. ;)

I agree. I mean, how am I supposed to get with Bastila if I can't love. Also how am I supposed to turn her away from the Dark Side at the end if she doesn't love me?

As for attacking without provocation, I agree with what you said too.
