I'm having a little problemo. When i try to join a game, it says 'Error unexpected' and i can't join. Not that there are many games for me to join since i don't have punkbuster installed although i clearly said so in the setup, but that's another story. So, first off, can anyone help me with the 'Error unexpeted' (I have a legal cd key, and i didn't do anything illegal, so that can't be it) and second off, can anyone tell me where to get this 'punkbuster' since 9 out of ten servers require that i have it installed. The multiplayer is one of the coolest things about the game and i don't want this to spoil it for me!

hmmm... come to think of it, 'For all you smart people out there' would've been a better title...

I thought maybe I could help you, until I realized you have the PC version. Sorry, I play on Xbox Live.

PT multiplayer is so awesome it makes my head spin.

I hate you. This is one of the rare moments i wish i had a console instead of a pc... or better yet, all consoles and a pc...

I actually don't even play the MP, because I could not find a single server that would let me on, and I tried it for days. I just played the SP in 7 hours, and that was that.

Punkbuster wasn't the problem. It just would not let me connect.

Yes, my problem exactly. The few srvers that didn't need punkbuster (And thus allowed me to join) got me that stupid error! Maybe the punkbuster servers will work, but i doubt it. The punkbuster request was more for when my problem was solved... Perhaps it's my firewall? Is that a possibilty? Can any of you computer-addicts tell me if that could be it? It would bring me one step closer to solving this.

Oh yes! I went to Ubi.com, then the FAQ, and then i searched for 'firewall'. then i opened the ports they told me et voila! Only now, i joined a server and right at the beginning, there were no respawns left so i couldn't start. is that normal? To install the full/clean version of PunkBuster for SCPT, please visit http://www.splintercell.com to download the latest SCPT game update patch. The full PunkBuster installation is a separate download available from the link given above. The files available for download from this page are only for manually updating existing installations.

does anyone get this? i went to the downloads on splintercell.com but it wasn't there... can anyone help me? I'm a little lost.

If you join a game already in progress you'll never get to play.

ALSO, (This is speculation, it's like this on the Xbox) if you join the game and you're in the lobby when they launch, but it takes your computer too long to join the rest of the players then the game starts without you and you can only be an observer.

Doomie

Yes, that's got to be it. i was an observer. Now i'm trying to get punkbuster. It said to download the patch but also that it was a seperate download...?

What the ****? I ****ing installed the patch like they told me and now it gave me a ****ing buffer overrun. So i ****ing uninstalled the ****ing patch and it still gave me a ****ing buffer overrun. I just want it to ****ing work, i want the ****ing punkbuster to ****ing work and i want to be ****ing rid of all those ****ing problems! Why can't they have some ****ing save server like ****ing battle.net so i won't need any ****ing punkbuster that caused this ****ing problems in the first ****ing place! Now i have to ****ing reinstall it and if that doesn't ****ing work then i'm going to ****ing run up a ****ing wall like a ****ing shadownet spy from pure ****ing frustration!

Doomie

Yes! I ****ing do want to ****ing talk about it! And it ****ing is ****ing messed up! And i ****ing am ****ing angry! It ****ing sucks! Now if that ****ing 'buffer overrun' is between my ****ing savegames (So i would ****ing have to ****ing remover those too) I'm gonna ****ing uninstall it and not ****ing look at it again untill the ****ing end of ****ing time!

RRRRGGH still doesn't work! I'm so frustrated i could smash my pc (if i wasn't smart enough to realize it is one of my most prized posessions) I already tore a newspaper to shreds, twisted around in agony for at least 15 minutes and i DID walk up against a wall from pure frustration! They say that playing computer games makes people violent but not playing this game HAS MADE ME A LOT MORE VIOLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111 <- I don't care if this looks noobish it's the best way to express the way í'm feeling right now...
