CTF - Capture the Flag.

The goal of this gametype is to proceed from your base to the enemy base, take the enemy flag back to your base, and bring it over your flag if the opposing team has not taken it. Doing this successfully will earn your team a point.

It's a very fun game type and encourages a fun amount of teamwork from the players. It's by far my favorite gametype and you can catch me almost daily on the Chop Shop CTF server. However, not many people seem to play it and the vast majority of those that do are discouraged when they fall to the bottom of the score list and feel they're not in control of the game. CTF is not very forgiving to newcomers, but observing these quintissential rules will give you the headstart.

1. Get the flag. This is where the F in CTF comes to play. The goal of the game is to capture the flag and you can't capture if you can't get the flag. So run for the enemy base, grab the flag, and retrace your steps back to your own base.
2. Use speed. Speed makes you run faster. Running faster means capturing the flag faster. Use it.
3. Don't engage any enemy player who's not carrying your flag. This isn't FFA or duel, please don't waste your time attempting to kill an insignificant enemy player only to have him/her respawn 2 clicks later. The only target worth engaging is the enemy flag carrier. Make sure he/she dies.

Once you observe these three quintessential rules, the rest come quite naturally.

I like CTF and Siege - not as much as Duels though. I was playing two Siege games and one CTF game earlier, and in all three, I kept getting attacked by my own team. o.0 In fact, I was the only one going for the flag...

yes, I experience the same thing, all the time. Someone said, hey man, why don't you rant about it on the lucas arts forums instead of b****ing at us?

I was like, yeah good idea.

Do they post about lamers on the lucasarts forum? I wonder what they would say, or even on Ravensofts forums... its probably hilarious.

well it's not really laming, a lot of people just don't know how to play JKA CTF. It's a very unforgiving gametype to newcomers because it's drastically different from FFA or Duel, as guns + force powers are thrown into the mix.

telling people just to get teh flag isnt any way to go about it either. some people should get the flag and play offense, and soem should stay in their base and play defense. the offense helps each other on the opponenets side and tries to get the flag home. the defense kills all the attackers in their base.

No bill. Getting the flag is a good start. I'd be happy if everyone just went for the flag.

I play ctf and telling to the newbies to attack or D doesn't help, they prefer to attack everything that moves.

I personally don't like the players that switch to the winning team when they're losing. I too play on the Chop Shop servers, most people there work pretty well together. By the way Mithie, do you use the same name there? Cause I never see you...
