Hey folks, you have about 20 minutes to recommend some DVDs for me to rent for a night in with a couple of friends.

Looking for some light hearted, fun, Saturday night entertainment ;)

What are Starsky and Hutch, and School of Rock like?

Thanks for your advice :)

School of Rock is hilarious. Dunno about Starsky and Hutch, though.

Get Cold Mountain, School of Rock, and Scarface.

School and Starsky and hutch are both hilarious.

But, I recommend both Kill Bill movies. Best movies I've seen in a loooooonnnngggg time.

I have to agree. Definately get Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2.

Funny, I heard they sucked.

The Last Samurai is a good rental too.

Here's a few favorites:
Pulp Fiction
Fight Club
Die Hard
Terminator/Terminator 2
Hard-Boiled (NOT porno! :p )

I would say stuff like The Godfather and Schindler's List but they aren't exactly "light hearted, fun entertainment" :D

Well, we rented Starsky and Hutch and Paycheck. Paycheck is a lot better than I expected - Hollywood have made a habit of ruining Philip K Dick novels, but this was pretty well done.

Starsky and Hutch was pretty funny, although I fell asleep at the end - not because of the film, but because of me :p

Next time we'll rent School of Rock, I've heard nothing but good things about it...

I've seen Kill Bill 1 & 2 already, and intend to buy them on DVD at some point. We might aswell turn this into a thread about decent movies you've seen recently...

Gonna have to go with leXX, and JediKnight_114 and also recomend Kill Bill vol 1, and 2. Rent both, because you will not want to wait to see how it all wraps up. Glad I didn't have to wait on the theatrical versions, because they are really meant to be watched in sequence, and there are many MANY seens you will want to back up and watch again. They are something you really should not miss out on! Very cool stuff!;)

Bill = best movie character ever. Technically a bad guy, but you just can't help but like him. So, yeah, once again, get the kill bill movies. You won't be sorry.

Face it man, even the critics agree, that David Carradine stole the second installment of Kill Bill, and yes, he lived up to the part. In my opinion, it is the best part he has EVER played!

I guess you all missed my post that said I had already seen Kill Bill Volumes 1&2 - in fact, I saw them when they originally came out.

However, I want to get them on DVD and watch them back to back - I think they'd be even better that way.

Yeah, they're definately better back to back. I only recently saw them when I was laid up with a concussion, and those movies made the days more enjoyable than I thought possible.

I had never seen David Carradine in anything before, but he definately showed his best colors in this one.
