Good graphics or not, it doesn't matter to me but it seems the graphics haven't improved in Kotor II. Anyone notice improvements?

From what the dev's have said; improved frame rates, weather effects on some worlds, new attack/defense animations. I'm sure they said more, it just escapes me at this moment.

Well thats pretty nice.

RedHawke

Well it is the same engine as KOTOR so the graphics will be pretty much the same, other than what FiEND pointed out in his post that Obsidian was adding for KOTOR:TSL... and all that weather and animation stuff Bioware could have added in to the original KOTOR in the first place.

Oh well... at least KOTOR:TSL is going to be pretty darned cool! :D

Not sure that I would want them. Completely different graphics might not make it feel like a continuation of the first game, but that's just my opinion :D

They need to make Bastila's body or whoever you get to date with a super high res body, nicely shaped and good skin tones. Mauahhah!

I thought the graphics in the first game where great, certainly the best I have seen from Bioware or indeed any CRPG I've played.

As for new graphics, the robes look like the most significant addition to me:)

You wouldn't want blocky characters do you? Because I don't.

I don't think anyone is advocating block characters. Not sure what made this message necessary.... :confused:

The characters will have to be almost like in KOTOR since it is the same game engine, and not everyone can run the game smoothly on high res... so expect it to be very similar to KOTOR, that is the safe bet, just KOTOR:TSL will have a lot more bells and whistles! :D

Either that or Obsidian realized that the romances were completely cheesy and decided not to invest time in something that sucked :D

It doesn't matter if I have a girl friend or not, it has nothing to do with it. I just enjoy saying funny things to Bastila and then she would say something serious. Anyways I hope KOTOR II isn't a subpar sequel. It always happens, the first games in the series are always good and then the sequels start to go downhill. Well lets just pray thats not going to happen.

For some reason I didn't get much out of flirting with Bastila. I'm usually a pretty romantic guy, but that whole "and you said you loved me" line on the Star Forge set off my gag reflex.

I will admit though some of the earlier lines were pretty funny, but it just feels like they gave up about half way through.

I think that if you check out Obsidian's site it will be enough to placate you. Despite what everyone knows through the press releases, Obsidian stated they are adding a number of feats and will make skills more important.

I am glad they arent going a romantic route with KOTOR:TSL. After all if you want romance then you will just have to play through KOTOR again! :D

I can't wait to see how the Master and Apprentice relationships work, if they make it into the game at all, first how is it going to work dialogue wise, how you instruct them, and if it will be possible to steer your NPC apprentice to the side of the force you want them to go... that in itself holds a lot of intrest for me.

Well, apparently some NPCs will follow your lead and other will rebel against you, insofar as to leave your party after they get fed up with you (LS or DS). I think the combination of party NPC's alone is going to add exponential replay value to this game.

Agreed! :D It will add a ton of replayability, especially if they have more than 9 recruitable NPC's and some of which will only travel with you on either the LS or DS path. I think I read that somewhere, I could be wrong! :D

Still though the whole thought of being able to have an apprentice and to instruct them and, if you are so inclined, to bend them to your will... would be very cool! :D

I had read that there would be 10 NPC's...well technically 20 because there will be 10 LS and 10 DS. If you do the math, you realize that this means there are 36,100 different combinations of party members.

Yeah...a little replayabilty :)

So they will have a total of 10 NPC slots instead of the 9 in KOTOR... that is very good news! :D

And I also didn't know there was going to be 20 possible recruitable NPC's... :eyeraise:

So yeah... I would have to agree that is more than "a little" replayability! :D

The number they keep throwing around is 10 and I've read that means 10 LS and 10 DS options. Of course this doesn't account for cornerstone NPC's such as Bastila. If you have 2 or 3 NPC's that stick by you no matter what, then this isn't nearly as intensive as I'd thought. But we'll just have to wait for more details.

Even if it isn't a full 10 and we have 4 out of the 10 NPC's that are there no matter what... that still leaves 6 slots open and even if they have 18 or so possible NPC's to fill those slots, that still is a TON of replayability, especially if you have some of those Recruits based on how your KOTOR went and ended like Dustil, Mekel, Thalia May, etc.

I agree that we will just have to wait and see... But that would be very cool! :D

Plus you have 4 environments to use them in.

KOTOR1 = LS, KOTOR2 LS
KOTOR1 = DS, KOTOR2 DS
KOTOR1 = LS, KOTOR2 DS
KOTOR2 = DS, KOTOR2 LS

Also tey say that once you complete the game once, you unlock something. No idea what though.

I'd forgotten all about that. Hopefully, whatever it is, it's optional. I'd hate to think that I only get one playthrough of the "pure" game.

Eh, I don't think it's very big. Maybe a few items that's all. Maybe a small secret area. Nothing big.

I'm thinking it may be a special lightsaber. They mentioned in one of the first magazine articles that getting "your" old lightsaber would be optional and a challenge. I'm probably way off, but it's a thought :D

Perhaps it is a special play mode with harder creatures and more powerful items. After all Obsidian are made of mostly Ex-Black Isle employees and they did something like that with Ice Wind Dale as I recall.

That makes sense considering that some strategic shooters have special difficulty modes that are only accessible after successfully beating the game. However, it is my hope that they do something a little more creative than that :D

Hmmm...Perhaps it's more of a sidequest then something unlockable. Why else would it be a challenge? Finishing the game is part of the normal path, hardly a special challenge to unlock stuff or find any particular item.
