It's that time of the year again.

What I need you all to help me with this time, is find, recommend, or brag about what you think is the best company to buy a pre-made computer from. Also, feel free to recommend certain components to me so that I may include them in my purchase.

My budget is in the two-thousand to three-thousand range.

Shoot.

if you've got that sort of money to spend on a computer then you should go for alienware...

http://www.alienware.com/Product_Pages/desktop_all.aspx

i would go for the Area-51 for $2,500

Thats what I used for my computer. If you're worried about building one, then get a barebones kit.

Oh goody, another build-your-own pc thread!!!

I plan to build my next pc. I am going to canibalize my current pc, and save SOME of the parts, but then build my own super sexeh groovy rig.

I like threads like these because you guys give me ideas.

So far I think I want a 120 GB Hard drive

512 Ram, whatever the latest Athlon Processor is, and this case:

Off topic: Has anyone seen that Pc case that was in Pcgamer the other day? It was around £100.00 or something and it looked like a Mac. It was really cool. If you get a desk, I recommend that one. It looked amazing.

I'll be getting a free Dell Dimension 2400 from freedesktoppc.com (http://www.FreeDesktopPC.com/default.aspx?referer=8506849) then I'll be able to upgrade it, into something a bit better. With more ram, and stuff. I'll prolly upgrade $500-$600 worth of stuff in there.

I have a generic black and silver case, nothing special, but it gets the job done.

And people, I'll post pics when I get the iPod. Then I can laugh for like 2 hours at the nay-sayers.

I would suggest you build your own computer, because if you spend 2k on parts (wisely) it'll be a hell of a computer, all the money would go into buying good parts that is. But you are set in not building your own, or are unsure I suggest you check out www.falcon-nw.com or alienware.

*is getting a falcon in december and shall then spend money to make his own os x 10.4 computer!*

So far the case I posted about is the coolest in my personal opinion....

Just finished building my new system. Only cost me about $700-800 US

ASUS K8V Deluxe 939 wifi mobo
AMD64 3500+
2 x 512 Geil 3200 ram
9600XT (from my old machine)
some random case :) which cost about $30 US, with a 400W PSU, and 2 random blue led fans thrown in
200gig Seagate sata drive

the other components are just leftovers. other hard drives, dvd burner from old machine... all inexpensive. the only thing holding back my system is the old-ish vid card. When i scrape together some more money, or when the system doesnt play games decently, ill get a new one :) Just finished piecing it together about 10 mintues ago.

Go AMD 64, but be sure to get the 939 processor. It's the way of the future :)

Ebay is also the way to go :D
