View Full Version : Mod/Campaign question

Anyone planning on making a single/multi-player campaign on the X-Wing/Rouge Squadron series?

It would be definitely from what you may have read in the book. Not sure what the mod kit would be like. If it would be anything like battlecraft for the battlefield series I could make maps.

I'm confused as to what you mean...

Would you clarify this please?

If you mean a mod for SWBF, it belongs in the Editing forum. If it's not about modding for SWBF, I can move it elsewhere.

Well it can be considered a mod since some of the vehicles won't be in the original version of SW:BF, such as a Corellian Gunship, Nebula-class Star Destroyer, and Home One. (Admiral Ackbar's flagship during the Battle of Endor.)

sounds quite specific. A mod based solely on a series of books/games. You start to get into the obscure and watered down when you decide to base an entire mod on too few events. For instance look at the boys from Blackhawk down mod for BF1942, though the events/movie inspired them it wasn't enough fill out a good mod. While conflict in somalia mod was a little more inclusive. Know what I mean?

I think you should keep tracking what happens with SWBF and its potential mods. If they make an Expanded Universe mod (like what I was saying) then Rogue Squadron maps would be a perfect fit. If you stay within the SW realm and use the films, books and games to inspire, a mod can expand the game in every direction. We could have Episode 3 maps, Rogue Squadron, Shadows of the Empire, Dark force rising, Dark Empire, tales of the Clone Wars... there could be hundreds of maps!!! I predict with just another dozen vehicles, 4 more factions, and another 8 maps you'd have one hell of a mod. One which Lucasarts would kick themselves for not making or they'd duplicate in an "official" expansion.

Now that I think of it, with the Jump to lightspeed going to come out it may be hard to come by.

It wouldn't be hard to make a mod with starwars since the majority of the main battles can be broken into smaller campaigns or maps. I remember with the "Tie Fighter" and "X-Wing" series the different kinds of missions. Such as protecting a Frigate, downing a destroyer, etc. StarWars isn't in just one certain time-line, more like let the imagination run wild!

i could see making some of the ground based maps from RS and WS, but i think space maps just wouldnt be to great for people who joined for the grunt work (where's our new space combat sim lucasarts!) it would be nice if you could specify player models for classes so that you could have all pilots on the rebel side.
as soon as there's modding stuff available, i'll work with you on this full time.

and if you think there's limited material, there's 9 300+ page books in the series.

Sounds like a good plan Cpt. Bannon.
