View Full Version : No Medal for Chewie?

I wonder why Chewie didn't get a medal at the end of ANH? Luke and Han got medals, but poor Chewie gets nothing. Why is Chewie not as significant as Luke and Han?

Well for one, we don't really know if Chewie did anything contributing to the destruction of the Death Star. Luke blew it up and Han saved Luke so he could blow it up. Chewie was just the copilot.

And he gets to walk around naked ....the ultimate reward.

But why did he come with them if he didn't get a medal? That's a bit silly.

Perhaps he declined the medal?

So that would mean he actually did get a medal. He just didn't want one.

Okay, that makes a bit sense. Only, why would he decline it?

He has to follow Han wherever he goes. He has a life debt to Han, and therefor has to follow him everywhere in case he needs protecting. And has anyone noticed how he controls applause? He roars, they turn to face front, he roars again, and they clap.
