What has Lucasforums done for you in your life? Good and bad things, by the way. ;)

Good things :
Helped me improve my spelling and grammar alot.
Gave me something to do when I'm bored.
Got me over 130 + Msn contacts.
Helped me find alot of mods for Jedi Academy.
Gave me links to alot of fun websites.

Bad things :
Made me into an even bigger Star Wars nerd. :xp:
Spammed my inbox.
Made me come here every day for around 1-3 hours.
Scared me around a year ago. [There was a thread where you clicked on this link, and after 1 minute a ghost jumped out and screamed at you. That made me fall off my seat and run downstairs!]

Well 1st of all, it let me meet all these crazy people, like you Pal :D! Ah just kidding, your not that crazy! Well it also allows me to talk to other Star Wars fans and hear there views on things.

Heh...

Good things:

Made me into a Star Wars super-nerd.

Taught me how to mod, and now even model (although I can only shape it, I require too much help to finish my models, and tFighterPilot has been busy, and insisting that I learn Assimilate, yet I am too busy to learn it, and I prefer to no get into it...hopefully my models will be done soon...:( ).

Really taught me more about the internet, I thought I knew a lot before I came here...figures...I was a total noob.

Got me to interact with people around the world, see how others think...

Got me into LF, and the JA Community...although some would think of that as a bad thing...

Bad things:

Spend too much time here...

Heh...people are "amazed" with how much I know about computers and Star Wars...:(

Yeah...LF, I love you!!

Actually, that's pretty much the only thing Lucasforums has done, almost everything else I was able to do with Google.

LF has given me a place to discuss my SW ideas and thoughts. When I try to talk to so called "normal" people about SW they have no idea of any of the most basic details. Even my dad is still in denial that Palpatine is going to be the emperor. I have tried to tell him this and he says "Really? How can that be, he's from that queen's planet. But you might be on to something." Ya think. When I compare real world politics to Star Wars politics in a vain attempt to clarify the situation, I only receive blank stares or laughter from ignorant unbelievers. This place, Lucas Forums, has given me a home, a place to come to where I can relate to others of my kind. Thank you my friends for being like me.

Mike Windu
09-19-2004, 03:45 PM
good:

Kept me busy when not playing sports or games
most of what others have said
made alot of online friends
helped me form a liberal view and be around both liberals and republicans and stuff :p

bad:

pretty much screwed me over in school.

Good things :
Helped me improve my spelling and grammar alot.Damnit, but if LF can improve someone's spelling and grammar at all, it's got to be the best forums network IN THE WORLD. That NEVER happens. EVER.

And you mean "a lot", I think. :D

What's it done for me? Hmph. Nothing much really. It's just somewhere to type a load of excrutiatingly well-formed logically impeccable guff into, like all the other JK forums I've ever posted in. JK has long since gone to the holy realm of excellent gaming in the sky, but I still post in SW-gaming forums out of habit.

Good:

Improved my writing abilities and made me more creative (not typing abilities, I mean in RPGs ;))
Speaking of which, gotten me into RPGing when my friends failed at it. :D
Gotten me some VERY good friends. ^_^ And a whole bunch of very nice acquaintances. :)

Bad:

Sucked away who knows how much of my 'valuable' time. :D
Made my grammar WORSE. :xp:
Got me into the habit of staying up half the night and sleeping half the day during high school. Which isn't as bad now, but it's still there. ;)

Neutral:

Made me a bigger Star Wars nerd than most of my friends. (...at least for a while. Now I've forgotten half the stuff, and rely on theforce.net for the SW RPGs. :D)
Made my Internet friends mostly guys, in direct contrast with my "real life" friends, who are almost all girls. XD

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the reason you have all guy friends on the internet is because there's a grand total of 1 female swampie now...?

Good things:

- Given me something to do when I was bored
- I know a lot more about the world by talking to people that aren't in my region
- Great discussions, and have learned more about politics, news, etc.

Bad things:

- Causes me to stay up late XD

Good things:

_Helped me meet a TON of really great people, many of which have been dear friends of mine for over 2 years now.

_Great source of feedback for technical problems.

_Great place to find out wether games really suck or not. (as opposed to "paid reviewers" who beef up a review to sell games.)

_Great source of current events, almost better than CNN at times.

_Increased my MSN list to numbers I cannot even caculate.

_Helped me discover mIRC.

Bad things:

_Turned me into a cynical tyranical bastard.

_Inherrited LF insomnia, the way the guys in dune developed the dark blue eyes.

_Causes me to express myself with "pictures" alot more than I would otherwise.

_Sometimes I spend more time posting on these forums, than I do playing the games I talk about so often.

_Increased my MSN list to numbers I cannot even caculate.

_Helped me discover mIRC. :p

Good: Gave me a social life, people to talk to, and something to do when times in my life were getting bad, gave me friends, that actually talk to me and aim me and care about me. Got me to use the comp more and go on the internet more often, improved my reading, typing, and charisma skills.

Bad: Made me a bit meaner, I used to be a really nice person but after I talked to some of the jackasses on the internet :p I had to learn to stand up for myself. Which could actually be a plus or a minus.

Bad:

-some spiteful little bastards I have met.
-finding out that there are always going to be jerks that think just because they don't like it, makes it wrong... especially at a place that has people with very similar intrests... *sigh*

The bad:

Kept me up late many nights...

Going a little off topic here but...

I agree in part with IG. While I believe all truly close relationships ( especially romantic ) must end in "Real Life", I think the internet is probably the best place to meet a future partner. If you're lucky, he/she will not give you a picture of themselves until later, giving you a chance to get to know the person inside.

I find that to be great. To really get to know the person themselves, to even grow to love them, without being distracted by there looks, or lack there of. As many guys have sex on the brain 24/7 if there partner is extremely attractive, whilst those same guys may be turned away from a less attractive girl.

The point I am trying to make is, you can truly get to know somebody a lot easier over the internet, and phone, when you aren’t distracted by there physical appearance. By the time you actually find out, if you are attracted to the person inside, you won't really care, either way. :)

Bad : Made me go on the computer alot more than I used to.

Just a little observational note here. Many people have stated that this forum has helped to improve their respective "grammar and spelling". I'm glad to hear that. I just wish that the people that have not posted in this thread would also improve their respective grammar and spelling as well. Thank you and keep up the good work.
