Hi Gold squad leader how is that arm?

Gold Squadron Leader
10-13-2000, 01:18 PM
It is doing well as can be with four steel spikes sticking in it for the External Fixator, which is a traction device that holds the wrist in place instead of a cast. It uses the pull of the ligaments to keep the bone fragments in the proper position, have to have it for six weeks. Hurts some still, taking Percocet as needed for pain. I go back to the doctor next Tuesday to get the stitches taken out and the traction eased a little. The bad part will be when he removes the metal screws in six weeks by backing them out with an electric drill, without any anesthesia! Big time OUCH!

So, how long did it take you to just type that with one hand?

Gold Squadron Leader

You don't want to know, probably twenty minutes at least with my left hand. I know I'm slow but it's getting better with practice.

The Master

He he, we used our Bacta supply on a Imperial agent who betrayed us. It was funny to watch.

now what happened to his arm

Gold Squadron Leader
10-16-2000, 01:26 PM
I took shrapnel in my right wrist while rescuing my wingman from a half dozen tie interceptors on his tail. He is a good pilot, we were just heavily outnumbered as usual. We barely got away, some others didn't. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/frown.gif

P.S. - Actually crushed it with a nasty fall while playing volleyball. Boy did it hurt. One surgery so far. Worst part, I'm right handed.

I once had a kind of pinched nerve in my right hand, couldn't use my hand properly with out it hurting for about a week or two. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/frown.gif http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/redface.gif

Gold Squadron Leader

Sorry to hear that Sky Master. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/frown.gif You were lucky, that is a mere annoyance compared to what happened to me though. I crushed my right wrist on Oct. 1st and will be lucky if I can hold joystick well enough to play RS again by Christmas! Major pain with major rehab ahead to get my wrist working again. So sad I would cry if not for the fact that it could be much worse. Much, much worse.

(Fate almost had me today with my thumb. It was slammed against a metal surface. It's okay, just swollen and needs ice.)

Now?

Gold Squadron Leader
11-13-2000, 01:46 PM
Oh good grief, cut it out. Wait till you get your arm crushed like me or cut off like Luke before whining about your wounds. If it doesn't keep you from flying, then it is merely a flesh wound. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/wink.gif

BTW, I finally get my wrist out of traction this Friday, 6.5 weeks after the big fall. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/smile.gif If rehab goes well, I hope to be flying again by December! I think I'll go to Tatooine and fly through Beggar's canyon for practice, then drop in Mos Eisley and harass the local pirates. See you soon Rogues!

hey gold squadron leader, was it you who emailed me? about bombing moff seerdon's shuttle? Why don't you get a steering wheel for your nintnedo 64, then you could fly, but use the pedals for shooting, and the steering wheel for turning. what a great idea!!! I tried it before, the only thing is, it's extremely hard on the index finger trying to make the ship pitch up and down.

The Master
11-13-2000, 06:52 PM
Welcome back Gold Leader. I can't wait until you can start flying again. But life still can't be that bad can it?

Gold Squadron Leader
11-13-2000, 09:37 PM
Rogue 15, no that was not me who emailed you. And I have PC version not N64, so no steering wheel for me. I might ask for a track ball mouse for Christmas if it easier on my wrist. I'll to go to computer store and try some out to see what feels best. But I plan to still play RS with my joystick.

Master, life is not all that bad. A couple of weeks ago the orthopedic Surgeon eased the traction off a little so I can know move my fingers normally, almost. Nothing like a mini rack on your wrist to stretch it out bit, eh? http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/eek.gif Talk to ya'll soon. Take care. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/smile.gif

is it hard for you to type with your wrist being hurt?

The Master
11-14-2000, 06:51 PM
Not typing to us. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/biggrin.gif

Gold Squadron Leader
11-15-2000, 02:33 PM
No, it is not hard typing, just very slow hunt and peck with left hand mainly. I have started to use my right hand more since it doesn't hurt anymore, but with the traction device immobilizing my wrist completely I cannot position it comfortably to use all fingers. I only use one finger. Yes that finger, but only because it works best at the fixed angle I'm forced to use. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/wink.gif

Talk again real soon, bye!

Oooooh I'm gonna rule this board in a couple weeks. I have a slight laser burn on my sternum. Actually I had my brother shoot me in the chest with my paintball gun to see what it feels like. I'm starting paintball you see, so in a few weeks i'll have this whole board crawling with new wounds.

What, this thread is STILL open! My wrist is getting better. I started physical therapy last week and will continue going 2-3 times/week for at least 4 weeks, maybe more. The wrist aches some where I broke it, is rather stiff and still has some slight swelling. I can move my fingers pretty well and twist my forearm almost as good as normal, but flexing the wrist itself up and down and side to side is the hardest part. If I survive the torture of PT then I will be close to 100% mid January.

As for the rest of ya, stop worrying about getting hurt but be careful. Pain is not all that fun, in fact it downright hurts. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/wink.gif

P.S. - Any thread that goes 3 or more pages has lasted long enough. This will be the last time I post on this one.

Whoa. I feel no need anymore to come to any message boards. I think I need a new game or something. Really I feel bad for not coming and saying something every day, but I just get caught up in other stuff and I forget to. Anyway I'm sorry about all that. Well I do have 3 nice nickel sized plasma burns off my custom Firespray. I was re-aligning the rotor converters when all of the sudden a plasma surge built up and shot out of the primary heat disapator. (Actually my best friend shot me from about 25 ft with his spyder shutter, ouch that hurt. Yeah yeah yeah but I got him back. He was in a fox hole and I jumped in behind him and shot him in the back from about 10 ft. Ouch! He let out a nice femanine yelp. Ha Ha Ha.) Anyway just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

P.S. Santa all I want for Christmas is a supply of Bacta.

Wow it has been along time since this popular topic has been updated. The reason I am adding onto it is becuase I finally qualify for it! Now let leave this short so I don't hurt myself. I got my finger crushed in a car door yesterday at approxamentally 8:30 am. Thats all I can type for now- Don't worry the finger is salvagable.
