Is it possible to run the PC dedicated server software on Windows 2003 Server?

I've tried to run it and this is what happens, maybe it's unrelated? I don't know...

Open up the program, set all my server criteria, and push the Start button.

Start button greys out and it loads a bit.

After a few moments, the Start button un-greys and can be pushed again, the server console indicating it's running does not come up ever.

So what this tells me is as soon as it runs, it closes, and the server is back to the beginning.

There is no crash or error messages of any kind.

This is on an English system.

The only thing I can think of is no compatibility with Windows 2003, or maybe it can be run there and something else is going on.

So anyone know if I can run it on that OS?

I've got my server running on 2003, and I know exactly what your problem is. Install DirectX 9c on your system, and you should be good. I built a 2003 machine just for the game, went to run the dedicated server..and got the same results as you. I noticed that windows didn't even pull down DirectX9b with the critical updates, so I went out to microsoft's site, pulled down the dx9c install, rebooted and voila....it worked! Hope that helps!

Ah ha! Thank you very much. Will try that ASAP.

I'm positive DirectX isn't updated on the server. :)
