Do you think polls need to go?

No, because if we happen to find a useful use for them, they are important.

UrchSr, please stop spamming the forum.

Polls...are the best...

Achilles did a similar poll and the poll got locked for spamming
polls are good but the problem is many of the new members start up polls that have already been done
i.e. what is your favourite lighsaber colour
which lightsaber do you prefer single dual or double bladed
which is your favourite sw movie
and dont forget which are you lightside or darkside
i've only been a member for a few months and i have lost count of how many of these polls i have seen so maybe something should be added to the rules of the forums letting newcomers know that thes polls have been done to death so please dont do them
because as newcomers they dont actually know any better and they think that what they are doing is new and original

Making a rule to limit polls or prohibit them seems a little harsh to me. I admit that some of the polls are annoying, and many of them could be just normal threads. However, having a few addtional options at the beginning of a thread doesn't make them very different from other threads: just ignore the poll and answer the question in the thread.
The main problem I think is not that much polls but the fact that many polls are made on topics that have been discussed many times over. Examples: saber colors and this very same thread about polls that got locked not long ago: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=138302 - UrchSr: when a topic has been locked, do not start an identical topic on the same subject again.
If someone has a problem with a thread that has been duplicated in the General Discussion forum, please PM Hannibal or Com Raven instead of making threads like this one.
Lock please

Darth333 is right. There's no need to limit polls. We should educate the newbies so that they don't continue to do this.
Also, PMing a mod always helps too.
