ok, here's the deal: tell me what team your rootin for this year and why. later, we can begin discussing the individual games and stuff.

if you don't like football, then don't post.

if your a casual fan at best, then feel free to simply drop in and give us your favorites for the playoffs.

for me, just read my sig. it explains a lot about who i root for.

had a feeling someone would pull for them. sry i couldn't fit them in the poll(you can only have 10 options), but i had to put in the strongest contenders for the playoffs at this point. i chose the five strongest from both conferences to make things fair. :)

Eh, my 'Phins are toast for the year, so I guess I'll keep an eye on Pittsburgh and Philly. Hopefully one of them beats New England.

I wanted the Colts to win last time, so I guess I'll just carry that over to this year.

Reminds me of that commercial.

Go Chefs!!!

Since the Panthers suck like all this year.

11-17-2004, 05:55 AM
My second choice would have to be the steelers though hey they beat the eagles they got my respect

11-17-2004, 07:33 AM
of course, for those that don't know, i didn't just jump on the steelers bandwagon. i remember being a steelers fan back in '95 when they lost to the cowboys in super bowl XXX. you could say i'm kind of weird because i live in the carolinas and root for both pitt and carolina, but, of course, only one of them is having a good season at the moment.

so far, the greatest point of the season was beating the previously undefeated new england and philly back-to-back. now thats priceless. :D

11-22-2004, 04:43 AM
WOOT WOOT!!! Pittsburgh wins its 8th straight!!! :D

also, a big congrats is in order to all the winners from yesterday, ranging from Denver to even Carolina(bout time they started winning again  ). :D

of course, you've gotta point out the Indy rout of Chicago. how bout that James guy??? so much for da Bear's 3-game win streak...

oh, and Culpepper finally proves he's got the stuff to lead Minnesota from behind....

kudos to Philly for their big win...

another kudos to Denver for a balanced attack from Droughns and Jake the snake...

biggest surprise, dem Ravens. w/o Jamal Lewis AND his backup, they turn to Boller and pull off one heck of an impressive rout over Dallas....

it wasn't anything new, but Brett Farve was really impressive in leading the Pack to a win from a 10 point deficit in the 4th quarter...

Drew Brees finally settled down for a week, but the Chargers still got the 'W'...

how bout dem Bills??? Bledsoe finally struts his stuff by playing off a good performance by Willis MacGahee, and the D comes up big....

well, good luck to New England and KC tonite. may the best team win.... :D

11-23-2004, 02:38 PM
San Diego Chargers all the way 7-3.

Antonio Gates is really doing well and we might go to the playoffs, if anybody was watching the game on Sunday Drew Brees threw a bad throw and Antonio Gates still caught it. The reason we won last game is cause of 1 person...

And remember....

11-25-2004, 01:49 PM
Man I am goin miss the eagles game cause I have to work(I am only 14 and my mom made me get a job:( ) Will I guess I could tkae a peak at the tv when I am out clearing tables

well, congrats to the blazingly hot Peyton Manning and the Colts as they crushed Detroit 41-9. and when i say Manning is hot, i'm refering to the fact that he's on pace to throw for 60 TD's this season. that is what anyone could refer to as hot. :D

and come to find out, the Cowboys are a completely different team whenever they start a rookie. no, i'm not refering to Drew Henson. instead, i'm refering to Julius Jones who ran for 130 yds and 1 TD, including a 51 yd scorcher on the very first play. what a difference maker he was. i guess its too bad that Jones got injured in the preseason, or we could be looking at Philly, Atlanta, and Dallas as the NFC contenders. that would have been cool. :D

Good to see a Steeler fan in the house. My mom's side of the family lives like 15 mins away from the stadium or something like that and i've grown up with them(my dad's side lives in South Dakota...) Gotta love the Steelers even though I still remember Neil O'Donnell from that Super Bowl...handed them 14 points and the W...

I'm also live in Indiana so I can't root against my home team, even if they are going to get smoked in the playoffs when Porter and Haggins hammer Manning. I've jumped on the Chargers bandwagon lately since I've only had them winning like 2 games this season.

12-07-2004, 04:20 PM
good to see another steel country fan on the boards. :D

anyways, i guess its time to start slightly regretting the choices i put up on the poll. i did it at midseason, so you can't blame me too much. the changes i would make:

take off the Broncoes and add the Chargers. i think its fair game to say that San Diego has the better team, seeing as to how Denver lost to them last week....

take off St. Louis. granted, i have absolutely no clue as to who would replace them at this point. it could be Carolina, Dallas, Detroit, NY Giants, and the list goes on and on and on......

12-08-2004, 04:53 AM
i've always wanted to ask this - why do you yankees call american football, football when they hardly use their feet at all, and call football, soccer.
its just one of the many things that baffle me about amercians!

12-08-2004, 07:13 AM
you know what??? i don't have a clue. i guess we're just weird or something. :D

12-13-2004, 01:56 PM
Right now, I want the Packers to go to the Super Bowl, but it probably won't happen, so if they don't make It, I want the Colts to go.

12-15-2004, 07:48 PM
Go rams, Bitch!

12-20-2004, 06:59 PM
well, the plot got really thick in the nfc. still no clear cut winner in NFC West, and to top it off, Carolina AND St. Louis lost.

however, believe it or not, the playoff picture in the NFC is simply murky now instead of clear-cut. Carolina is still the number two wild-card behind Minnesota. only three teams in the NFC have 8 losses: Carolina, New Orleans, and St. Louis. since both New Orleans and St. Louis lost to Carolina, Carolina remains in the #2 spot in the wild cards. however, the two remaining games against Tampa Bay and New Orleans are now must-wins for Carolina for them to remain in the playoff picture.

the AFC, on the other hand, got just a little bit clearer. since Denver lost on sunday, San Diego automatically won the division title in the AFC West. the NY Jets also look like their in prime positition to gain the #1 wild card spot. however, its gonna be a fight for that #2 spot. Baltimore, Denver, and Jacksonville all have 8-7 records. Baltmore holds the upper hand since they haven't played either team this year. however, the game against Pittsburgh next week is a must-win to stay in the lead. Jacksonville beet Denver 7-6 back in week 2, which gives them the edge, but they still need to win their final two games.

as of now, the playoff picture looks like this:

Division Titles:
Pittsburgh- homefield advantage *
New England- 1st week bye
San Diego

Wild Cards:
NY Jets *
Baltimore *

Division Titles:
Philly- homefield advantage
Atlanta- 1st week bye*
Green Bay*

Wild Cards:

* projected

more fun awaits next week.......:whacked:

Renegade Angel

Pittsburghs goin to the Superbowl! GO STEELERS!!!!

01-19-2005, 03:41 PM
HA Pats will easly win the stealers STUNK against the jets and only won because New York always chokes atleast this year. Indy never had a chance Paton this Paton that he stunk even with Law and Poole out HA...

Fyi I have always been a pats fan live in mass season tickets my cousin well uncle ARRrrrrrrr i dont no what he is but was manager of gilet studum before he quit because 90 hrs a week is alot.

01-19-2005, 06:59 PM
so you base your entire conclusion on the mediocre steeler performance against the jets??? luck or not, i still say brien would've made at least one of those kicks if he had been closer. so far, the longest field goal @ heinz field is only 47 yds due to the constantly shifting wind patterns near the goal posts. if coach edwards had chosen to throw the ball down the field (especially near the end), brien would have made the field goal. instead, edwards chose to run curtis martin up the middle against the number one run defense in the league. go figure. :dozey:

i base my conclusion on the fact that the steelers soundly beat the pats on halloween. you can say that it will be different this time with corey dillion starting instead of kevin faulk, but i believe he will be a non-factor against the number one run-defense. corey dillion will do what every runner this season has done against the steeler's run defense: force the offense to throw the ball to beat the steelers because he won't be able to establish the run as an effective method of moving the chains. sorry, but pittsburgh has faced better offensive line units than new england, and they will put the pressure on tom brady when the pats get put in passing situations. that doesn't sound like much of a game-plan change to me than last time.

the thing about the steeler's offense this season that i've enjoyed is a powerful running game behind both duce staley and jerome bettis. sorry, but i think that the same thing will happen this time against the pats that happened on halloween: pittsburgh will establish the run to set up the pass and control the clock. and don't forget that the steelers are facing an even more patch-work defensive secondary from new england this time around.

for me, the odds are definately in pittsburgh's favor, not new england. :)

01-30-2005, 09:22 AM
MWAAAAAA I Told u the pats would win and they did just like thier going to win the superbowl.

Held the best offence to 3 points. Scored 41 against the best defence. 31-33 Thier is no better team in this day of football. Bill Belichick also tied the record for best record in the playoffs 9-1 a .900 record and if they win the superbowl it will be 10-1

Adam Vinatieri also set the record for the longest feild goal kick 48 Yd

Need we say more

But the stealer are going to be a very tough team to beat next year even if they lose Bettis

Eagles were coming for u

01-30-2005, 12:29 PM
the eagles better win. :)

01-30-2005, 03:20 PM
ha Eagles win i dont see them beating them even if the had TO

i just dont think that any one right now can beat belicks D fence

01-30-2005, 04:05 PM
*shrugs* i probably won't even watch the game.

01-30-2005, 07:08 PM
i can see the eagles beating Belichek's defense, even w/o TO. i'm still undecided as to whom i'm going to root for. i'll probably root for philly, though, even though i hate that pig-headed TO. he's a good player, but he talks way too much trash.

02-02-2005, 05:45 PM
Geez this is scary no one thinks that the defending champs a 31-33 Patriots team Can beat the eagles? Does no one have any faith but 2 ppl including me??? or do u hope me and my team just go and die? lol

02-02-2005, 06:24 PM
well, i never said that the pats were going to lose, i just said that i can see philly's offense beating the pats defense. Belichek is a genius, but you still have to have personell, and the pats just don't have much personell on defense.

i don't think i've posted this yet, but i predicted back in week 10 (or so) to my friends that whoever won the AFC will win it all. my prediction hasn't changed: since the pats won the AFC, they'll beat philly.

that doesn't mean that i can't root for philly, though. :D

02-03-2005, 11:41 AM
Then why didn't Peyton Manning (set a record for most TD in a season this year 49 TD)score at all against them and throw one interseption. They didnt have all the starting secondry out their.

Then Ben. Rdfjsdfjdsberger lol throw two TD (and the last one was a gimme so pats could get the ball and run down the clock) and 3 interseptions

So they may not have all the starters but from the looks of it they still have a good secondry.

02-03-2005, 04:44 PM
ok, at least one person on the pats secondary that will be playing in the pro bowl. i was referring to the fact that the pats don't have a good secondary. with TO in the mix, belichek has to come up with a really good defensive scheme to stop mcnabb, westbrook, and TO. thats why i said that i can see philly's offense beating the pats.:dozey:

and yes, go ahead and sight peyton's lousy performance all you want. i still say that there were a lot more factors involved in that game than just peyton manning throwing the football. just because a quarterback has a bad day doesn't mean that the secondary was operating like a well-oiled machine. it means exactly what it sounds like: the quarterback had a bad day. peyton manning is not God: he can't be perfect all the time.

case in point: ben roethlisberger shredded your vaunted pats secondary back on oct. 31, but had a pretty poor performance just a week ago. every quarterback has bad days.

02-04-2005, 11:20 AM
So ur blaming that the steallers and Colts lost because they had a bad day??? The reason why the pats lost thier first game against the Stealllers was a "Bad Day" I mean Cory Dillion was out D. Branch was out and Bradys been playing hurt. He had a bad throwing shoulder a year.

TO probley not even going to play if he does he wont go deep at all.

Question why would u piss off the hardest hitting Defense back the week before the Superbowl if ur a wide reciever?????? Freddie Mitchle is not that smart of a guy if he pissed of Harrison before the big game

(i think its pritty cool someone else like football alot on these fourms)to bad ur routing for the wrong team

02-04-2005, 07:17 PM
okay, maybe i wasn't being very clear:

if i was betting on this game, i would bet on the pats. its not because i like them, its just that they stand a better chance of winning than the eagles. pats win in almost every matchup except three:

1. philly's passing game vs the pats secondary- i've already explained this earlier.

2. the pats offensive line vs. philly's pass rush- this one is more of a draw than a philly victory. philly's two DE's are among the best in league, but the pats OL is quite good.

3. the pats passing game vs. philly's secondary- this one should be a no brainer. three good recievers and a great quarterback against three pro-bowl backfielders. philly has one of the best defensive secondaries in the nfl, and i just can't see new england doing too much through the air.

otherwise, the rest of the game swings in new england's favor. BUT i'm still hoping that philly will pull it out. i guess i'm in the same situation as last year: i'm rootin for the underdog. :D

in summary: i'm predicting a new england victory through logic, but my heart wants me to pull for philly. ;)

02-05-2005, 12:35 PM
Here is why the PATs will win

Here is why the Eagles will win but they wont

If u read both it why tell why that team will win. And if u read them both its pretty much clear that the Pats will still have the adavantage. In the Eagles will win one they talk as if Brady is a rookie and they think little thing like one big hit will win the game it wont. Remember how faulk was just like Westbrook a run and catching back but was better and the Pats shut him down know what do u think now that the linebackers are even better are going to do to westbrook.

Eagles have been facing easy to beat teams so far the Vikings a 9-9 team who only have Moss and Cullpeper Then they had to face the Falcons that only had Vick a one dementional team.

The pats had to face the 13-4 Colts the best offense this season. Then they had to face the stealers a 16-2team, a great team that had the best Defence and a good offence .

So the Pats are on the Top of their game well the Eagles havnt faced a team of the Patriots Calibor.

02-06-2005, 08:49 AM
Well today's the day.
I hope the Eagles pull through. ;)

...nevermind. :o

02-06-2005, 06:19 PM
well, it was close, but as predicted new england is the champ.

final score:
new england 24
philly 21

congrats to Deon Branch who won the MVP award, and to the rest of the players on the New England team.

until next season, this is stingerhs quitting all posting about the NFL.......

02-06-2005, 07:00 PM
Congratulations to Ranger5402 for his arrogant but correct prediction! :xp:

(You can be as arrogant as you like when you're right.)

02-07-2005, 01:49 AM
lol thanks:D
