View Full Version : Republic Commando MOD in Jedi Academy

I am one of the makers of the Republic Commando MOD in jedi academy and we need some help. We could use Mappers, Skinners, Modellers, Coders, Scripters and all that stuff. but NOT Beta testers because we have enough of that.
since our forums are down (for a mystical reason) we use a thread on gaming forums:
The first pages arent interesting, so you can better go to the last pages to see everything. I shall make a post there with everything we have..
-5 scripts: Kashyyyk, Geonosis, Correlia, Metalorn, and Republic 4 (not ready yet)
-We are working on the first map: Correlia
-The main Commando gun is nearly completed
-We have the models of the Battle droids,Thrandosans super battle doids, clones (not commandos), Droideka, Republic Gunship,2 baaaad guys, and we got nearly the Geonosian model done.
-sounds of Clones, Thrandosans, Geonosians, Battle Droids, Commander (from trailer and from people that work for us)
-We got a new mapper and he is beginning at the Metalorn map.
- RIPTIDE is going to help us, he maded much things for JK2 (like the Moria MOD)
I hope we got much interest!

oh sorry. Its a Jedi Academy MOD, so actually I had to place it on the Jedi Academ forum... I was a little confused because its Republic Commando mod FOR Jedi Academy...
Can an admin plz move this topic to jedi academy section?

The Correlia map is nearly done, a BETA is coming up saturday. Its not a public version, so its only for the people in the MOD.
We also got our startup screen:

We need someone that can make the Commando Model, so someone of us can skin it, or if he/she want it. He/she may skin it.

So what are you making this as? A SP campaign? Would you be interesting in making it CoOp?

Its a sp camaign, yes.

CoOp = co-operative, as in you have multiple human players fighting together to complete the game/campaign.

I dont think its possible to do that with JA.

Its actually very possible. When JA first shipped out many sp levels were playable but buggy in JA mp. Mods like OJP fixed a bunch of issues and some sp levels work perfectly in mp. So i think mp coop levels will be played a lot more than ones designed exclusively for sp.

That remains to be seen. I don't really know how well CoOp will be supported by the JKA mapping community.

Ah, let me rephrase, with some fixes, mp coop levels are better any day of the week than ones designed exclusively for sp.

you might wanna check www.darktiderising.net there are some very good mappers and skinners in that clan
try Lazarus mapping
and DK skinning

Hay, I have been(sort of) following your prev forum it sounds like a nice mod. Btw could I have that startup screen I would like to tweek it for myself if I could:D

Well, if you cant wait for the MOD, I can do that 1 time. I shall sent it to you with mail soon. Know its not a PK.3 file. So you have to install all the things by yourself

We got a BETA its able for download. But maybe you should wait for a new version
(I still want to call it Alpha, because its just one Mission and it needs MUCH fixes)

Our work is down for 2 days, because of Christmas. After that we go to work again
Nout uch updates now. lotrgeek finished and fixed some NPCs like the Mercenaries, Super Battle Droid and Droideka.
I started with a new script.

CoOp = Co-Operative. As in having multiple people playing together to beat the SP maps.

The purpose of this mod was to tide people over for SWRC for a year. So I doubt this is still in progress. Correct me if i'm wrong though.

Indeed, its still in progress. Since our coder didnt believe in our MOD anymore, we had to start over (and changed to Multiplayer) :mad:
Anyway. We are still going staight ahead, there are some files released of our mod on www.pcgamemods.com (general grevious and his bodyguard)

I code. However, my primary interest is CoOp. I'd be willing to help make your mod CoOp but I don't have the time to do weapon code.
Also, why didn't your coder give you what he completed?

You can't code for Single Player... you can script and stuff... but thats not coding.

I'm well aware of that lukeskywalker1. However, it is possible to recreate the SP code with the MP code. That's the point of CoOp.

I know, Razorace, I was speaking to Lionheart Lonesome, because he doesn't need a coder for an SP project. If he wants it to be converted to MP, then fine (although, since you have almost all the SP stuff in MP, it shouldn't require new code, minus the script editing... he could just include the mod in OJP)
