I think that strategy games should have some formal style of government. As in, when you go online you could select:

Democracy: Teams work together and choose their battle plans before attacking. Warmup time limits are imposed when a team chooses democracy which allows them not to be attacked over a certain time. They have to go by certain rules though (such as not allowed to take money a certain way.)

Dictatorships: Teams have their own independent leaders, who have full control over everything they own. They don't have to follow any money-gaining rules, but cannot communicate to their teammates at certain times (like allow them to talk for 5 minutes every 10 minutes).

and then add certain sub-catagories like maybe:

Democracy :

Market Economy : Easy to go in debt, but can build up to 100,000 dollars more after debt.

Also, research more types of democracies such as republics.

Dictatorship:

Communist: Weaker units, but easy to get money. Foot soldiers have a time limit to live.

Also, reseach more dictatorship styles such as monarchies.

I think it would add more strategy, not to mention a neat twist.

I agree. But that would be abit too complicated though.

I think that's pretty much already determined by who the sides are. There is no reason to have it choosable.
Seriously, just think about it.
Empire = dictatorship
Rebel = democracy/republic

"communism" doesn't really sound star wars like ;)

I reckon it'll be the most simple system of all; everyone is their own boss.

This isn't RoN, it's a Star Wars RTS.

Yeah, that is very nice in RoN or Civ, but dioesn't really fit in with SW story.

Especially a Star Wars game more focused on battle.

I'm not "Windu". Anyway, I thought maybe formal governments would add a twist to the game. But of course you couldn't have a communist government in STAR WARS, they would have to change th names around a bit.

Economical systems might be possible to an extent but since they stated that it would be simple, I doubt we'll get anything like this.

Besides, it makes sense if you're creating your civ from scratch but a Rebel Dictatorship and an Imperial Democracy sounds too weird.

Oh by the way, monarchy doesn't exactly equal dictatorship. Constitutionnal monarchy does exist.

I know you're not Windu mate.

Hey remember, no Republic/CIS so...he did leave.
