View Full Version : Game Locks up at Manaan

Hi recenty downloaded kotor savegame editor by tk102 everything works alright except when i enter manaan for the first time the game locks up in the coversation with the sith soldier. I dont know if this is caused by the saved game editor or an additional mod. If any of you have had the same thing happen to you or if you know how to fix this please let me know.

Hmm, haven't heard of that symptom is association with KSE.

Do you have the Deadeye Duncan mod?

Or maybe a better question is: what mods do you have?

I have the following mods and programs files for kotor:

Mind_Trick2.1, revan_robes, MECKProject-EnterJabbaspalace and patch, LS Jedi Counsel Sabers 2.3, DarkLightSwords, Blaster Balance Pack, FINAL PROJECT Mod, SaberPack, Westar,Upgradeable JediRobes, scoutsoldierarmours, xanetia armor, EKun,RHORDMandellMod1a, ViiV, LS Jedi Lightsabers v2.3, r2mod, Calo Nord Inventory Fixes, Achilles Jedi Counsel, JediPrestigeClassRobes, RHJawaShop1a, RHBarGlazedArmor1, RHSithArtifacts, Manaan1.zip mod, ManaanFC, Blade_of_Balance, DS Jedi GCSR, and kotor_savegame_editor2.1.1a

Most of these were downloaded at Pcgamemods.com

Also another strange thing i saw was all of the sith troppers have not heads.

The most likely culprit is the Manaan1.zip mod.

Try the following:

Go to your swkotor\modules folder and remove the following files:


Start the game and load a savegame from a point prior to visiting Manaan and see if the behavior continues.

Im not for sure which mod is causing the flaw. All i know is when i get to manaan for the first time and i enter the dialog with the sith soldier the game freezes. Iv uninstalled all of the manaan mods i had and still nothing has changed. I have tried all of my saved games and it happens in each and every one. Everything is fine untill the dialog is reached.

any futher advise will be appreciated

Sounds like manm26ad

When you say freezes up -- does it occur as soon as dialog tries to initiate or does it happen after a couple lines are spoken?

I dont remember there being any sith in manm26ad. Are you using a mod or are you playing the original game?

It's manm26ad, and I believe the conversation (right after you open the door) is of a Sith and a Republic soldier arguing -- m26ad_sitharg.dlg

Try extracting that file with Kotor Tool and put it in your override folder. That may fix it.

It happens right after the sith and republic guy are arguing, you are right it happens after the sith soldier says 3 lines. I extracted the file and put it in my override folder but i didnt have any luck it still locks up after the sith officer speakes 3 lines of dialog. Also Gsccc at the moment im just using the normal game no manaan mods are installed.

Okay, here's one for the books...

I did some further investigating and this it what I found:

man26_sitharg.dlg Entry #8 has the script kpman_26d_arg01 fire when spoken. This is where you describe the game freezing. Decompiling this .ncs file shows the following behavior: Conversation is paused and supposedly the two characters approach each other... however! they are referred to by incorrect tagnames! The script references tag "dan26ad_sitharg01" and "dan26ad_sitharg02" neither of which are present.

Perhaps this was fixed with a patch from Bioware earlier? And maybe you removed that patch? :confused:

Here is a workaround that may help you:

1) Extract k_act_talktrue.ncs from scripts.bif->Script, Compiled
2) Rename it to kpman_26d_arg01.ncs and put it in your override.
3) Extract k_act_talktrue.ncs again
4) This time rename it to kpman_26d_arg03.ncs and put it in your override.

Well I renamed the files but no luck. The game still locks up 3 lines into the sith soldiers dialog. Any suggestions on what file may have caused this glitch? If so ill make sure to fix it if i decide to reinstall kotor. If you have any more advise it is appreciated.

What are the contents of your override folder?

(Edit: Another idea for a workaround:

Using KT browse to
-> Modules
-> -> manm26ad_s.rim
-> -> -> Dialog

and extract the man26_reparg.dlg

rename it to man26_sitharg.dlg and drop it into your override. Hopefully it will do more good than harm...)

Well i was able to get past the sith soldier
however once i got to another part of the game where i am suppose to come in contact with another sith the game locks up.

On a another note i realized that when the game locks up during the conversation the republic soldier is not around at all. You see the republic soldier label but you dont see the soldier.

I think im just going to reinstall the game and all the mods and just make sure i dont use the manaan.zip mod.

But if you have any more suggestion i would appreciate it.

That was a strange one, Mhp. I guess reinstalling is all that's left to try. :(
