The old forum points system...what happened??

When I came on the lucasforums ages ago there was some kind of point system which you could save up for and have glowy names etc.

What happened to it??

I think it still works in your profile is this:

Glow - Only shows up after 1250 posts. Enter using hex code, and leave it blank to disable.

but i don't think it works with firefox...

People abused it, so they nuked it. Meh, you can have all the "cool" things still tho, like glowy names and sig pics.

Yea, if you saved up points you could do all kinds of things.....the one i remember was being able to create a sticky thread....what other things could you do??

I remember at the time there was an insane amount of spamming going on.

Well, someone found a loop in the system that made peopel give all their points if they clicked a certain link without them knowing....

They had sticks, italics, mod for a day (QUICKLY cut out), custom titles (you could use it on yourself or someone else. :)), and a few other things I can't remember....

It was an insentive to spam, nothing more.

Some members made hacks that when clicking on a certain link, caused you to give all of your points to them. That was what ultimately killed it.

I miss the points system. As well as Torque's points thread. I can understand its encouraging spam, but I didn't spam for money. :xp:

Anyway, it was nuked shortly after I had registered. I remember asking Siv, coupes, and another guy that is no longer around (forgot his name) to make me a sig after saving and saving and saving the 1000 points or so needed to get a sig pic. Wish I still had 'em, they were real beauties :D A year later, I learned graphic design myself. I also remember getting all psyched about my new glow and showing it off to everyone. Then I began saving for a custom title, but the points system was torn from my grasp days afterward.

Your off the mark. I refuse to say who and WHY they did it, since we get along now, and I like to keep it that way.

I will say they did it to make a good point, and that is as far as I choose to go with this.

Anyone else remember the insane amounts of points the days before they changed it over from the points to the battle system?

I never found out, was that a glitch or did an admin or mod do it as a joke?
