You should disable them before trying to install the full version of the game.

I got a Program Error message over and over trying to install the game (from the legit discs of course) preventing me from entering my CD key.

Upon disabling the Gravis Xperience software (in windows 2000's task manager) I was able to install properly.

I get a "Cyclic Redundency Check" error when I try to install it. Do you think might be able to tell me why?

Google search that exact phrase and you'll see it's a common problem with many games. I forget the exact solution, but if you see it for some Unreal engine games, it's probably a similar fix.
