Anyone else heard about the courthouse killer?

Well, he was going into court on rape and sodomy charges, and stole the gun from his escorter.

He then went on to kill the judge, the court logger, and 2 security officers.

Well, that was a few days ago. Now, the guy has turned himself in. And they're trying not to do anything to prevent justice being done on him...

Comon, isn't this an obvious fault in the justice system? He killed 4 people and turned himself in, and they know he's the guy. There should be a point where you could just lock the guy up (or shoot him) without any legal problems getting in the way.

What do you guys think?

Btw, if this is senate worthy, just move it.

I sure wouldn't wanna be the accused man in an instance where a judge, officer or what have you, simply decides that no trial is necessary. Would you?

As with this case, relax. It's not like they'll be debating this guys guilt for months. He'll be in his cage soon enough.

Yeah, but still, there are alot of rules that, in some cases, prevent justice being done.

Or I could not know the hell i'm talking about. 8)

Everyone has the right to a trial by jury, correct?

sure, but to quote CNN

"Nichols fatally shot Fulton County Superior Court Judge Rowland Barnes, court reporter Julie Ann Brandau and sheriff's deputy Sgt. Hoyt Teasley after he overpowered deputy Cynthia Ann Hall and stole her pistol while Hall was taking him from a detention area into Barnes' courtroom.

Hall remained in critical condition Saturday in a hospital in Atlanta but was expected to survive.

Nichols is also a suspect in the shooting death Saturday of David Wilhelm, assistant special agent in charge for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the FBI said."

He shot 4 people and wounded a 5th AND there were witnesses to all the shootings but one. I wouldn't give him a trial, sry do no pass go, do not collect two-hundred dollars, go straight to jail. Their gonna put him on death row quick as nothing.

I say a guy on a killing rampage should be taken alive if at all possible, but dead if necesary.

If the guy turns himself in, ANY ONE includeng him should have a right to a trial by jury. the founding fathers put that in the constitution for a reason, so government people can't do ugly things to people without going through some process.

It is a violation of our civil rights and a threat to the freedom of america to just say certain people don't need a trial, just lock him up kill him without people's consent then just trample on peoples rights. (the PATRIOT ACT comes to mind...)

Everyone has the right of a trial, no?

Let's say we don't give him a trial, just shut him behind bars. Then what's preventing us from doing the same in other cases? In a murder case with strong evidence, should we just forget about a trial there too?

And I'm not even going into the death penalty debate. Just want to say that it's pretty creepy to watch people on an internet forum jugde life or death on human beings they don't even know anything about.

Sure, he's got a right to a trial, but you've got to admit, it's going to be a funny trial.

Prosecution calls Witness 1.

Yeah, he took her gun...shot the judge, the court officer...

Witness 2!

Yeah, he took her gun...shot the judge, the court officer...

[...]

I second that, lock him up. Don't kill him though, just never let him out.

If he turned himself in, he'll probably plead guilty to the charges. That's what happens a majority of cases. Many people simply plead guilty.

If he wants to plead insanity... Well then, perhaps he deserves a trial so we can determine if he is indeed insane.

Though I think he should be brought out back and shot regardless of his excuses.

pppffftt! shooting him is the easy way out for him, lock him up so he has to live with what he has done.
