View Full Version : Millenium Falcon... Fastest ship in the galaxy?

Okay, so apparently the Falcon is the fastest (and most unreliable) ship in the galaxy. Everywhere you turn this is mentioned and even the tech room in XWA it's the fastest in the galaxy, but then when you finally fly the Falcon in Battle 7 it is only as fast as an X-Wing. I was expecting speeds of up to 200+ when you redirected all power to engines and it was well short.
I think they should have made the Falcon extremely fast otherwise what makes it more spectacular than any other ship?

The mention of "fastest ship" is at hyperspace velocities and doesn't apply to sublight speeds.

Exactly. The Falcon has a 0.5 class hyperdrive engine. Most imperial ships don't even have a 1 class one.

An ISD in ESB (Avenger?) could easily keep up with the Falcon at sub-light speeds. Though it would have been nice if it had had a few surprises.

Actually, the Falcon is supposed to be very manoeuverable at sublight, as in outmanouvering TIEs.

Unless you have a beam weapon totally redirected to engines, I don't think ANY ship can go past 200 MGLTs...
Correct me if I'm wrong.

In Star Wars episode Three Han says he can outrun ties in it and implies that the Falcon is very manoeuverable (is that how you spell it?).
Yes I suppose it can outrun ties but any starfighter is more maneuverable than the Falcon. I just wanted a really fast ship which is the reputation the Falcon has gained.

For a fast ship, you should look at the Tie Defender with a beam system
