A long time ago, at another forum for a dead game, someone showed me a small Swedish game named "Dominions: Priests, Prophets, and Pretenders", strongly advising us to go try it out (link (http://www.starbasedelta.com/ubb/Forum7/SHTML/000349.shtml), for nostalgia's sake:rolleyes: ). Which we did.

I loved it from the first moment.

Dominions was original (no more of that stupid "Humans and Elves fight Goblins and Orcs"-stereotype), it was deep, and it had a multitude of units, spells, and features. It had huge armies, epic battles, and grand empire management. Your mages researched magic for use in the battle fields and forged deadly weapons, glorious equipment, and other artifacts for your tropos to bring into battle. The game draws upon folk tales and mythology rather than on Tolkien's universe, which, again, is an oh-so-welcome relief! No more goblins or cave trolls! In with the war salamanders, the fiery abysians, the Jotun giants, and the Vaetti moose riders (OK, so vaettir are kinda small:p).

Dominions II continues where Dominions left out - with 17 playable civilizations (and the game supports all 17 civilizations playing in the same game!), 1000+ units, 400 spells, and 300 magic items.

If you like the Total War series of games and fantasy, this is a great title! You might need to get a "getting started" guide for the UI, though, as the game has a lot of features.

The demo features several maps, 7 playable nations, and research up to level 4 out of 9.

I'm usually not that interested in strategy games but this sounds interesting... Downloading right now.

If nothing else, you'll love the Germanic/Scandinavian folk songs in it.
