Have you heard the news?

THAT WAS GameStop's biggest competitor. We are in da money.

Let the good times roll! :rddance:

(p.s., I LOVE my new job! :o )

I liked EBgames much better than Gamestop.

Gamestop: new games, high price, no selection, at least for PC.

EB: new games at a high price + lots of discounted used PC games (which is the only type I buy there)

I'd hate to see that disappear. :(

I still prefered EB. :o Probably because there was one at my mall.

But anyways, they were like the same company, dealing in the same business, so it won't be a big deal. Unless...

My sister was assistant manager at both GameStop and EB.

It's strange because EB's website (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/default.asp) still looks the same.

Oh noes. Buy-outs and integration. We're doomed. It's like EA, only with gaming retailers now. Run for the hills.

It's probably because it JUST happened today. Lots of red tape is involved in such things. With most company transitions, it takes a long time to see the end result. I am not sure how EB can sell used PC games, I mean from what I understand, the chief reason that GameStop does not, is because of the license issues. You don't need passwords and serial numbers to play console games, which is why we sell so MANY of them. You never know, with all aquisitions, alot of the times you can intigrate the best of both worlds. Nobody really knows anything more at this point, other than the aquisition itself wich is not yet been finalized. Not to come off as a biased spokesperson for GameStop, but when they bought out Funcoland, it was the BEST thing that ever happened becauses Funcoland specialized in ripping off it's customers. From what I have seen at GameStop, they are FAR more customer oriented. In fact with ALL used games, you have a 90 day return policy, AND we don't sell any used system without testing, and anything that turns up defective, we return and have it refirbashed. Hell, even BEST BUY can't do that! They are have ALOT BETTER reserve system. Anybody who remembers my Halo 2 horror story, knows what I am talking about. I lost my reciept, and they were like "tough luck", and charged me full price for the game. GameStop actually tapes a copy of your reserve to the game itself, so there is no hassles when it comes in what so ever. I like that. Alot.

Damn, I'm gonna miss my EB games. When it came to the cheapness of used games, they had it.

And yes, Gamestop is much better than anywhere when it comes down to reserving games. I won't reserve from anywhere else.

I really like gamestop, the employees are usually like me so i get along with them great. The only bad thing is that their used titles and accesories are usually a little higher than other places. Usually like five bucks or so. But you can always find a game you want there, thats for sure.

I liked my EB games here :/

My guess is not much will change there, I don't typically go there unless I'm buying a new release, and there's no difference in prices on those between EB and Gamestop. :)

XD We don't have Gamestop in Australia, we do have EB Games in Australia though... wonder if this means all the EB Games stores in Australia will be renamed to Gamestop....

I love the EB I go to since the entire staff is made up of my friends... the staff won't change but the name may... I'd still call it "EB" or maybe I should call it "The Store Formally Known As..." now XD

The price may also -.- which is really what I hate. Also I have a few good friends I met in an EB. Also the manager is awesome and is always walking around talking to people about how sucky this is and how awesome that is. He is the one that told me to check out kotor (on my top five list).

It's not hard to sell used PC games. They always check for CDs and CD-Keys at my EBgames.

Meh, EBgames.com got my stuff to me pretty quick. GameStop.com took forever to get my replacement DS. I like ebgames mor ebecause there's an EBgames at the mall back home.

I don't have a big problem with GameStop. The only problem I have was one time I bought a new game and paid full price and the dude gave me a used one.

Yes, you may notice my ".com/co.uk/whatever" part...
There's .com .ca .co.uk .de .co.jp .fr and interestingly, the Chinese site is "joyo.com"

heh, never knew about the chinese one... who'da thunk?

The guy was probably new. Every single game we sell has two "skus" for those of you who don't know retail, a "sku" is the name for the bar code attached to the game. All games have two attached to them, one for used, one for new. When we take in a trade in game, we always attach sticker over top of the old original bar code, to indicate that it is a used one, with a used price. IF the clerk scanned a game box without one of those said bar code, the game would simply ring up at full price. Had you taken a receipt back to the store, it would be a more than easy fix.

Also the prices on used games depend on demand and availability. If you buy God Of War used(good luck finding one, it doesn't sit on the shelf long...), chances are it will probably be around $44.99 vs buying Chronicles of Riddick used which is about $17.99 now. If you shop around any place you know that sells used games, you'll see GameStop has about the same prices as anyone else. Gamestop charges a little higher for it's used consoles and components because we have a 90 day warranty on ALL used merchandise. That means, if you have any problem whatsover, we will replace the prodect with no questions or hassles.

My experience with ANY store, is that it all depends on the clientelle, and the people who work there. My experience so far, is that people seem to love shopping there, and there is nobody I work with that HATES working there really. I mean if you HATE your job, it's pretty damn impossible to give good customer service. When this store I was at was run by Funcoland, I HATED it. It was like being waited on by the comic book guy from The Simpsons. Do this:

Go here (http://www.gamestop.com/gs/help/contact_us.asp) and tell them what you just told us. IF you see the same staff working there, I guarentee, you will see a dramatic change in attitude. ;)
