View Full Version : Hand grenade thrown at Bush

Wonderful (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4559013.stm) (BBC)

Bush makes a speech in Georgia and someone throws a fragmentation grenade that lands thirty metres away from him. It didn't go off and probably wasn't meant to, but it's unsettling, still.

Wonderful security, that. It'll make Americans even more paranoid, too, even though this didn't even happen in the States.

Thirty meters? That guy sure won't make it into a baseball team..

Really, this is not wonderful at all. It will only give him more reason to take away more civil liberties in the interest of "security."

If only they had a sniper instead of a grenadier... ;)

Hell, anyone would have survived if it landed 10 meters away. :-\
Well... maybe...

It says in the article that the grenade has a range of 20-25 meters...

I thought it was like, wrapped in something and placed next to him. I don't really know.

I wonder how he feels being one of the most known and most hated person in the world?

Just fine, probably, what with all the money he earns from Iraq and his other shady business...

These damn terrorists need to remember to pull the pins of their grenades. They could use some target practice, too:D...

I'd have used a sniper rifle from a kilometer or two away, myself. Amazing that no one's done that yet: There've been attempts at terrorist attacks (Reid the shoe bomber, for example), but no assassination attempts against Bush? Strange as Heck.

Hell, just get any hunting rifle anywhere near by and just put a slug in his chest. Not funny, yes, cause it would suck. Even though he is an idiot. :-\

So?

Personally, I wouldn't care if Bush got assassinated.

I'm not saying it would be a good thing whatsoever.

But, he's just put America and his own safety in the crapper because of his actions, and I have no sympathy for him, because he's done no good for me personally.

So, meh.

Read about this on SuicideGirls... :o

I don't really give a sh*t, since they missed anyways.

I also don't find it funny. And a sniper rifle would've made no difference, as the stage he was on was protected by bulletproof glass. And anyways, it's pretty sad when you hope it would kill the president, when it would also have killed innocent civilians supporting the president's view of continued democracy for the ex-Soviet country.

No one here seriously wants him killed. Really, why take this kind of stuff in the Swamp seriously...

It would be a bad thing since if Bush died, Cheney would take over.

And that's not a good thing.

Well, at least Dick would live up to his name if he'd follow in Bush's footsteps...

Oh and, no one here wants Bush dead? You sure about that?

Hey, that'd make a nice videogame; "The Bush Assassination; now on PS2, PC and XBOX!".

Well, I don't really think he should die just for this. Maybe put him in solitary confinement for the rest of his life. That would be nice. :D

Not funny? It's only Bush.... What's not funny is that the dummy forgot to pull the pin from the grenade... I had to wonder if the "Georgian" in question wasn't from the Peach State.

It's a sad thing to have a President assassinated, but, as a traitor to his people, it might not be a bad thing in the long run.

*both hands*

But seriously, it probably would be a bad thing... cos you'd get cheney, the republicans would get a sympathy vote and lots of popularity, they would harden their anti-terror stances and the whole world would suffer as a result.

On the plus side the average US iq would raise a few points :D

Nah, it'd be held down by the average John Neo-Con, I'm afraid.

I'm sure nobody is being serious here, but just remember that threatening public figures (even in jest) can put you on the watch list of whatever authorities.

Just saying~!

And Tom Clancey doesn't predict the future. I read his "Politika" novel. Complete BS, none of it happened, not even close!

Anybody can predict that terrorist attacks will be attempted on major events/landmarks and public figures will have assasination attempts sooner or later. It doesn't take much imagination... ; p

Here in the US you can make fun of the government all you want, criticize it all you want, protest it all you want, but you can't threaten their lives. That's illegal.

the FBI is watching us all!.

No, seriously!

PS/ Fbi guys: Note that i said it would be bad if he got assasinated!!!

What concerns Me is the Patriot Act. The Fbi can arrest you for critisism, and protest too. whats to stop them all they have to do is label you a terrorist and they can throw you in jail no court or nothing. ...or at least thats what I heard.

Exactly. No warrants are needed, no trial is needed, no lawyer can be given you, and you can be jailed "indefinetly". And on top of that, the government doesn't even need to tell anyone they're holding you. See section 106 (or a clarification of it;)).

Sounds like something straight out of Red China to me:mad:.

For whoever's interested in knowing more about the USA Unpatriot Act (http://www.ratical.org/ratville/CAH/USAPA.html)
