Is there a connection between Star Wars and US history?

i've found the following words in the back of my social glossary:

Rebel :x-wing:
Imperial :tie:
Star Wars :yoda: :vadar:
Stormtroopers:trooper:

Star Wars is a Reagan era space defense program, named because of the Star Wars movie. Stormtroopers is more of a Nazi reference, as they had those in World War II.

Rebel and Imperial...yeah...that could go for anything really. The United States wasn't the first country to rebel...

Stormtroopers came about from the Germans at the end of the first world war. They were trained to infiltrate trenches and this earned them the name, "Sturmmann."

For more information on the subject, I recommend you listen to Ted Nugent's "Stormtroopin'." ;)
