GAmestop is apprently selling Halo 3,with the promise that it will be available June 1,2006. Maybe Grooves, with his Gamestop connections, can clear this up?
http://gamestop.com/product.asp?product_id=t000284

Oh, and EB is selling it too, with some Halo triple pack.

Microsoft generally releases Halo right before a competiton's product is released. Like Halo 2 right before Half-life 2. So are they planning on releasing this before the Revolution or something?

RoxStar

I thoguht Gates was going to use it to kill the PS3, but with talk of that being delayed, it would make sense to release it near the revolution. But I doubt people like Lynky were even going to buy an xbox 360 anyway :p

Actually, the halo triple pack is Halo 1, Halo 2, and the Multiplayer Map Pack for Halo 2. If that is what you meant, my bad, but it seems that you're saying they're releasing halo 1 2 and 3 in a box set.

If they f*** up the halo movie, there will be hell to pay.

Bungie doesn't say anything about Halo 3 on their site...

*checks again*

EDIT: nope. It does have somehting about the movie, though.

Halo 3 will probably be made anyway, but there's no info on it yet...

That would definately kick ass

Halo 3 will be done when it's ready. I honestly don't mind waiting for it, since just a few more weeks would've made 2 better. The longer it takes the better.

Considering that Halo 2 hasn't even been officially announced to have a PC port, I don't think that they will have the ability for pc and xbox players to play on the same server. But would that work? If it did, it would definitely be cool.

They should make the next one a little bit more strategic. And bring back the old Assault Rifle, Halo 2 was really missing a "pray and spray" gun, the SMG sucks.

People like Dave Grohl assume a lot. I've actually considered buying a 360 just because of Perfect Dark.

Plus Nintendo isn't Microsofts nemisis, Sony is. Remember Nintendo is going for a different path than Microsoft and Sony so neither company feels really threatened by Nintendo.

Yeah it was, guess the Halo movie is more important though... but it's funny when you tnink about it, everyone has been thinkin "yeah, MS is gonna release Halo 3 to combat the PS3 and Nintendo is gonna release Twilight Princess to combat the 360" and none of it is happening. Everyone is just going about their business not trying to do some wildcard trick.

Meh, I played with my friends but I was so used to the keyboard and mouse setup on the pc that I got owned too quickly. :( I could've gotten better if I wanted to, but I had other things more important to me to do.

The proper term is "Spray and Pray", since you shoot and hope everything hits.

Semantics. Either way is fine, since no matter what you pray and spray anyway. I could pray before I shoot, or pray after. Means the same, pretty much.

hehe, I love playin halo 1 on pc online. It doesn't lag too bad most of the time, and I've actually gotten pretty good, if I didn't have such bad lag I would own a little bit more. I usually place around 4-7. Unless it's rockets or snipers, I place 2-4 on them. Only won 3 times.

I'm as of yet undecided on what to buy. I think I will wait it out and see about XBOX 360, PS3, and Rev. I really want the 360 for Live, but I'm not sure that's worth the 300+ bucks. :p

Fixed ;)

I'm not thrilled about either the movie or the new game. I was so pissed after playing Halo 1 the first time. It was the mother of all games, the best FPS, the #1 selling XBOX game, the short easy game I beat in two days on normal

Halo 2 was fun. Never beat it. I plan on buying it when it's $20 or so like I did the first one. They're good games, I just don't get the hype. Just another FPS to me.

Yeah that's pretty much how I feel about it. I play Halo 2 sometimes when I go to friends places, but it's not as fun as the N64 days with GoldenEye and Perfect Dark for some reason, probably easily explained by the "it's been done" thing.

I think because Goldeneye was the first time most of us played an FPS deathmatch all together in one room.

Halos is a decent, really polished FPS, but it does have some flaws

As a sidenote, most of the stuff people love about Halo 1 and 2, Goldeneye had it. Great console FPS, dual-wielding, drivable veichles....

Also, am I the only one who thinks that adding tracking to the rocket launcher in Halo 2 was a really bad idea? It used to be a thing of skill when you saw a ghost coming right at you and you managed to destroy it with a rocket before it killed you.

Vikinor

I'm good with an analog stick and a mouse. I prefer(ET did I spell that right?) an analog stick though. It is easier to have all the controlls on a controller. I think the mouse and keyboard thing can be a little more complicated.

serious about the analog stick thing?

i thought it was merely a matter of sensitivity.. u can play with a mouse with a lot higher sensitivity than a control stick. Just imagine using a sniper rifle and there is someone behind u. Turnin around and shooting is a lot quicker with a mouse.

Granted some ppl will always prefer one over the other but on average i thought a mouse was an advantage.

El Sitherino
08-25-2005, 08:06 PM
It all depends on your own hand eye coordination levels.

shukrallah
08-25-2005, 09:02 PM
It depends on the game, they would have to lock the speed on the PC like the console, otherwise PC users can gain the upper hand by changing the mouse sensitivity. If they auto set the mouse sensitivity then its all fair.

ET Warrior
08-25-2005, 09:17 PM
You can change the sensitivity of the analog stick in Halo...I mean, you can't make it TOO sensitive or it becomes impossible to aim..

Lynk Former
08-25-2005, 10:05 PM
aye, Rare did have a way of making use of the digital buttons and making things run very smoothly even though you don't have the extra bit of precision. I loved the analog look, C buttons move setup in the orginal Perrfect Dark and GoldenEye, it was so kickass :D

Kjølen
08-25-2005, 10:32 PM
I feel it's smoother for me to aim with an analog stick. But I have the sensitivity at 3, which is good. I get too jerky with the mouse. But, once I'm playing, I really don't notice. I suppose I like the controllers because it's all right there for you, and I always hit the wrong keys in a panic situation.

Darth Groovy
08-26-2005, 03:33 AM
Except some people can kick major ass with an analog stick just as much as people can kick ass with a mouse. Some people have the natural ability to use that stick.

For example, I been playing JA since it was called Dark Forces II. When I play JA on the xbox, I seem to be ten times more agile, and do things that I could never do with the mouse and keyboard. IE: I seem to be ten times better playing JA on XBOX live, than on the PC.

Katarn07
08-26-2005, 03:34 AM
(Except the single player story, whihc is pants).

Gotta disagree there. The actual story wasn't even that great; decent for a FPS but nothing mind blowing. The concept of the Halo Ring was cool and the relationship between the Chief and Cortana was great. Their banter reminded me of the mission briefings before missions in the original Dark Forces. I always loved the relationship Kyle and Jan shared. Chief and Cortana had a very similar relationship, only Cortana is an AI which made it even more interesting. Other than that, nothing really stands out in my mind. The fact the story makes you repeat half of the levels (in a different way, whether going backwards or if the locale was blown to bits) was pretty cheap too.

Have you read the novels? I only read 'Fall of Reach' and it was excellent. Only after reading that could I fully appreciate the heroes of the game.

It's different though, since you're using a lightsaber so movement is more important than accuracy. In shooters where you're using fairly accurate weapons, there's nothing better than a mouse and a keyboard.

ET Warrior
08-26-2005, 11:12 AM
That's personal opinion, and varies person to person. I have played Halo on Xbox and PC. I was moderately bad at Halo PC, whereas Groovy can ascertain that I'm more than decent at Halo on Xbox.

It's easy to be very accurate with a pair of analog sticks, you just have to be used to them.

shukrallah
08-27-2005, 05:51 PM

It doesn't matter which platform it was designed on, the mechanics of it are exactly the same shooter to shooter. If it's implemented well on the Xbox it is simple to be VERY precise with analog sticks, you just have to be used to it.

One question though, those of you that have played both PC and console FPSs, what do you think of the difference between both, 'Cause my sister plays PC FPSs fine, and console FPSs w/ the goldeneye default style fine, but when she tried the 'Halo' style controller, she can't play at all. Which for me it's a little confusing, since she plays a lot of PC FPSs and it's the same basic principle.

I can't choreograph half as well with the controller as I can with a mouse and keyboard. For one thing, you have to guide the right-analog stick with your thumb, which it wasn't really meant to do. Aiming with the joystick feels more of a "guide the crosshair along" rather than the mouse's point and click.

The bottom line is what you're used to. I had never touched a pc fps until I played Jedi Knight II(the first levels where you don't have a lightsaber), and as much as I used to play Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, I'm better at consoles.

Some are better at PC FPS
Some are better at Console FPS
