What do you get when you combine an iPod Shuffle and an iPod Camera? You get the new iPod Nano.

This looks expensive. There, I said it, but if this thing can work well, then thats cool. The pictures are also obviously just renders photoshopped in to the photos. Doesnt look like we will being seeing this in stores for awhile. Its like the RAZR of MP3 players. It comes in 2gb and 4gb size models. Cool ehh?

It's beautiful. When I start making money, I'm so buying one. I need an mp3 player again. And this is so small and so sweet looking.

(And Tie, I think you can edit the thread title so it doesn't say 1GB :p)

Nuh uh.. Maybe a mod could make a quick change. But I cant.

You mean enter more internet give-aways? :xp:

If I ever got an iPod, I'd just go for the 20 gb one. Why waste 200 on something like an iPod mini which is 4 gb when you can get 16 gb more for 60 bucks more. <_<

The new nano does look nice, though. :D

Why are these things so plain, or rather just so ****ing ugly looking? They cost enough to where you'd expect them to look like more than a bar of soap that has sat in the bottom of someone else's bathwater for too long. "Oh, you need it to have a bunch of useless buttons and knobs, bells and whitsles to make it cool?" For the price? You're gawdamn right I do. Or at the very least a decent color scheme. Not this plain ass, generic looking **** they keep coming out with. No wonder the commercials are like LSD trips done in nothing but weird color silhouette style ****. Imagine Natural Born Killers done with cardboard and construction paper cutouts, made by four year olds. Nothing could make these things more OR less exciting. Now they take pictures? Huzzah. **** Ipod.

He's a foul mouthed highly pissed off bastage.

And the forums wouldn't be the same without the Capn :p

Back on topic, that looks hella small, but I don't like I-Pod. If I can pay 60 bucks less for a mp3 player with a bigger hdd and looks better, then you know I-Pod is something that must die.

I was seein how much an mp3 player would be a while ago back. I asked the dude at best buy, and he said, "Oh, Ipods are over there." Douchebag, I didn't ask for an I-Pod, I asked for an mp3 player. "Sir, I just said, the Ipods are over there."

I left the store.

looks better,

In my opinion nothing looks better than the iPod. It looks beautiful and has a great interface. Nothing I've seen competes so far. I'm gonna buy an iPod nano when I get a job.. :(

Fix that battery problem and I'll buy me one. I'm not paying $60-80 just to get a new battery within 18 months.

Oh, yah. Apple might get in trouble from Creative (my personal favorite MP3 maker) for using the name Nano.

Nano is a word that derives from Greek (nannos) meaning extremely small, dwarf. Making a ruckus over that would be retarded.

Yah, read the article. Its a word. It would be like copyrighting the word and and charging royalties :p

But they can still complain that Apple is delibratley trying to mess up Creative's Nano.

Perhaps not by the name itself, but Creative does hold a patent now. A technology (or portion rather) that Apple incorporates in it's iPod series...

The man is entertaining. And his posts have quite a bit of fact to them, along with a lot of personal feelings.

Anyway, nano looks good, but it'll probably suck much like the regular iPods (audio wise). Best quality sound from any mp3 player belongs to the shuffle, but the thing is far too tiny in space size for any real use beyond a few albums. Most people are wanting HDmp3 players.

Play nice, kiddies. Don't make me lock this.

The Nano looks smexy. But I will admit, this is mostly because of the color screen, which is really what I want. :/

Uhhh. One time I went to a Best Buy and the Zen Micro was secured buy a restraint rope thing.... that was connected to the battery cover. The battery cover just slides off the back and you had a Black Zen Micro without a battery cover. I could have pocketed it and walked out.... and then get busted for stealing an mp3 play that I already had. But I noticed later that one of the employees saw the problem and they took out the display. :p

I only wish I got a Black or blue Micro, the silver kinda sucks.

I prefer my monochromatic 20gb.

Although that thing does look pretty sweet.

..sigh, remember the days when Mp3 players didn't have colour screens?

OMG LOOK, A PHOTO. ON A 2.5 INCH SCREEN!

Hello, Chase. :p

The only thing that is keeping me from getting an iPod is the stupid battery. I don't want to have to pay 60 bucks just to replace it after a few months. :/

(btw I love iPod's simple look. :p Too many buttons on the Creative things, and scroll wheel is so much fun to mess with. :D)

i would go for an iriver if when and if i delve into this area. cheaper, and nicer and not as crappy music transfer interface.

looks gorgeous, but I still haven't been convinced of the point of ~4gb drives. Its more space than you need to store a playlist or two of songs, but not enough for all your albums..
Still, i guess if its cheap and flash based then you might as well get a 4gb one as a 1gb one.

The Zen Micro has one extra button that is really great. Its subject sensitive (or something like that) It lets you see the song info, bit level of the song, play mode, and how many times the song you choose has been played before. (So I know I have listened to the entire Demon Days CD around 20 times. :p)

My bro has an iPod, and it still bugs me that it doesn't actually have an off button. Its either sleep or put it on pause and lock it for 5 minutes.

You hold down the play button until it shuts off. That's how I remember shutting it off when I had an iPod.

Que? AOL take back their iPod? :p

After it got all scratched from some of my friends who stole my iPod from me (not actually stole it, but just took it out to borrow it for a class hour to listen to music without asking and returning it back because I was one of the only kids with an iPod), and I wanted money, and didn't see a need for an mp3 player for a while.

Once I start making some serious money (at least $300 a month :p) I'm going to get another mp3 player. And right now, the nano seems like a nice choice. It's nice, because it's not all that noticable, unlike the normal iPod which is huge. And for a guy who doesn't wear really baggy pants (some would even call my pants tightish), an mp3 player like this would be nice.

Ahh yes. Its flash. Less space, more battery life, smaller size. The thing that sets it off is the color screen. Pretty bitching. Wouldn't mind getting it myself.

(some would even call my pants girly)That we would indeed. ^_^

As for the nano, that thing is mighty tiny, and I really don't see the point of having something so small. My Zen is the perfect size for carrying around, it either fits in a cargo pocket or a side pocket with no troubles, and it holds every song that I own. I'm far too lazy to goto the trouble of changing songs all the time, so I'd have to be VERY selective about what I put on a 4GB model.

With me, it's not the physical size or the storage size. It's the fact that the Nano is flash based. Which means gapless playback, and I really don't have to worry about dropping the nano and cry over the 300 dollars that's in kingdom come.

Arstechnica said that most normal drops, like dropping it from standing high or even a slowish bike ride would hardly scratch it. That'd be awesome for someone clumsy, like, me.

And understandable bonus, flash memory is, but until they can get 20+ gigs in flash, I'll be sticking with my physical drives.

Thats the problem I have with my flash player, i almost never get around to changing the songs... so its always the same ones over and over.
Still, a 4gb flash unit (nano) makes far more sense than a 4gb HD unit (mini) as at least you can use it for sport etc...

Nah. It's no more breakable than any other iPod. They al have to go through usability standards, that includes resistance to common scenarios.

well there's no reason to get the mini, and the photo (as said by acrylic) is now the price of the regular iPod. So... yeah, no point.
