View Full Version : Secret rooms on Malachor?

I was just playing malachor, figuring out what I can do with it, and I saw in the right wing two room labels I couldn't reach "Meditation Chamber", and "West Cells", for some reason my reveal code wasn't working So I couldn't tell if they had any map art to support them, they are on the other side of dead end walls, like the arenas on taris.

Are they there?
Can they be accessed?
What do they look like?

The TSL restoration team is working on it as we speak :D

I hope <_<

yes the rooms are there but there's not much to see. You can access it with the whereami armband which allows you to open any doors in the game.

Look for a mod called the WhereAmI Band on google... Download it, and you'll be able to access all locked doors and whatever. There are tons of doors on Malachor that can only be open using the band, so I suggest you try it out.

I'm pretty sure I DLed your band, but I didn't see any locked doors, there might have been door models there, but I couldn't find anything selectable:(

How did you get in there with it?

On a side note, does anybody think that area next to it with the small rooms would be too cramped as a barracks?

Archon II

Usually they don't appear as selectable doors. Just go up to a segment of the wall that looks "doorlike" and try it. It usually works.

Cool, I thought was just designed for doors that were locked until you got a key or hit a plot point.

It's right on our website: http://www.starwarsknights.com/tools.php ;)

RJM: some doors are just fake but you'll find that quite a few of them are openable. However, most of the time, they just lead nowhere. You should find an extra bar on Nar Shadaa too. You can try this small mod that makes use of this area if you want a laugh: http://lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=148307

Thanks for the link, I was going to try it after work today, but I didn't have it, could've swore I did, but no:D
Then I tried PCGmods and lucas files (why does everybody say that's the official site when there are no mods there?) couldn't find them, and completely forgot to check SWknights, I'm slapping myself right now, you should be able to hear it in Canada:D

I guess I don't mind if most of them lead nowhere, can't you add modules together, at doors like that?
Malachor's gonna be my first planet, and I want to have a huge amount of stuff to do, so it's good that it has so many "useless" doors:D

Ho-hum......Do any other levels have hidden areas? Aside from Nar Shadaa Docks, I mean?

Ok, the band worked and these 4 sections are what I came up with, are there any I missed on malachor?

Since this thread is pretty much played out I'll hiijack it a bit ;)

@Darth333
I had no idea that your wonderful tool ever unlocked the "forbidden" doors! :confused: It has become my new fav. toy :D The kewl info plus that function and the ability to access it via my Hak_Pad is wonderful :D (thank you ChAiNz for that)

@JRM
Hopefully now one of the talented module editors will utilize all of these hidden goodie areas :D

I always wondered what were those fake doors on Trayus Academy and was glad to use the band to explore. Is there anything like it for the original KOTOR?

REDJOHNNYMIKE, did you explore also explore Trayus Crescent?

Also an excellent tool to explore the Droid planet modules.

@Kenobi, did you notice in my treasure map, there was a little arrow that said
<Fullname's Room>
;)
I've just got to dl some tools.

@ED, I had a section called trayus crescent didn't I?;)
And you can just warp around the droid planet.

Oops... didn't notice that part... ;)

Only using the band I could see the mysterious fish of M4.

@DI, I meant: console, "warp (map name)"
you just warp to the different modules, I did it a while ago, but I think you have to DL from the Restoration Project.

@ED, ah yes...the fishy...There are big plans for the fishy:D

@Fred, SWEEEET!!!
you gotta admit I was close though, right:D
Did you make that art custom, or use a tool?

Does anyone have an opinion on wether or not the cells would be too small for a barracks?

I actually have a couple ideas, none of them ready enough to discuss:D

I'm just saying we also have big plans for the fishy too... Well, the fishy won't exist in our plans... Here (http://www.geocities.com/m4_78/M4-78.html) ...

You've been reading too much "Brave New World" or something RJM... lol...

What you see is a 3DS Max render of the KotOR model. This is the lower-res version of the map for use in Kotor Tool's module editor. The high-res version would have been to big; it's 2524 x 4575 pixels! :)

REDJOHNNYMIKE

@Fred, I kinda figured it was something like that, I saw a screenshot of one of those programs in a tutorial, oh and in case I read the wrong one, what's the best module editing tutorial?

@Archon, Well, how do you have big plans for fishy if he doesn;t exist in your plans?
Are you just deleting him to make more room...

And from henceforth fishy will be dubbed FUNKY TUNA

And I'm glad you got rid of that fog, fog is fitting for the location, but that fog just looked wierd.

@Maker, You have every right to be afraid...I can even feel them watching me as I speak <_< >_>

I can't say that I am aware of any module editing tutorials that center around the use of Kotor Tool's module editor. That said, I am writing one of my own that will explain the new features I am adding to the editor, especially the new module properties editor. If not, get them, and rejoice, brother, and testifah!

What is this 'fishy' ?

They probably refer to the Firaxan sharks (from KotOR1) that Obsidian placed on the Droid Planet maps inside the M4-78, Archon and IS-24 computer cores.

I'd guess they were placeholders for the actual droid avatars since it'd make no sense to have Manaan aquatic animals inside computers on a planet populated by droids. In particular since they are named after the Droid Intelligence in whose core they sit. They probably just never had the time to model those droids before the planet was scrapped. :)

Here are a few screenshots of them:

Big Fish (M4-78 Core) (http://img319.imageshack.us/img319/5655/m478fish1os.jpg)
Smaller Fish (IS-24 Core) (http://img274.imageshack.us/img274/5420/m478smallfish9ds.jpg)
Another Smaller Fish (Archon II Core) (http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/5343/m478smallfish21qb.jpg)

Thanks for the link Fred, Honestly I never read your thread because as soon as I saw the number of pages I thought, uh oh, loaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad time:D
I guess I'll have to start though,
the only two tutorials I've found on the subject are the ones by DoomDealer and the "a guide to new area creation", Unfortunately, I can't get the ERF editor to install, So I can't actually do anything except make evil plans.

@slipstreme, IT'S FUNKY TUNA!!!
:D

@stoffe, It makes perfect sense...If you think about it...

You're not allowed to use Kotor Tool until you've read the whole thread! :D

REDJOHNNYMIKE

Oh, so that's why I can't get any tools to work right, You've hacked my system and locked them until I master yours:D I did read a little before, but it seemed to be mostly pragamming jargon that I couldn't figure out.

I've been using DoomDealers tutorial for module editing, but it's for KI and uses a different Gff editor which I can't get installed for some reason.

Is there anything tutorialish that uses the K-GFF editor, because that one works well, it's just that everything works differently, and when you're reading a tutorial that tells you to click on a button with a star next to it (only in that editor) and select an option (usable editor doesn't have a similar sounding option) in a step by step manner, the whole thing fades to black quickly.
