Number 5 - Babylon 5. I wonder if the number in the name was the reason for this exact place...

Well, the fact B5 is in the TOP5 gives a list all the credibility it needs.

Yeah, I'm sure there was a show that wasn't on there that was better than voyager. At least it shouldn't have been so high on the list.

Chances are good that Serenity will do extremely well in theatres, and Fox will beg to bring it back into the lineup. Although I think that Sci-Fi channel will be the one with Firefly; they're still giving Joss a chance, what with all the ads and teasers for Serenity.

But uh, Stargate SG-1 scored far too high on that list. Sure, the first five seasons were good...but now they're just adding new enemies for the hell of it. "Screw the Goul'ld, there were The Ancients before them!" and "Screw the Ancients, the Pyrors killed the bitches!"

Howsabout the fact that Dark Angle is on that list. That show was so bad it gave me the herpes.

WTF!?! No Farscape on the list? That show was better than so many of the shows on that list. even if it did have an anoying theme tune...

And no Red Dwarf? what is that about?

Also Star Trek: Enterprise, is way better than Voyager, posably even better than ST:TNG.

Oh well, At least Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis got well desurved places in the list.

That's somewhat contradictory. If it was so bad, why would you have got so... uh... familiar with your TV that the herpes was transferred...

He's a Coloradian.

Coloradians have been known to get very familiar with inanimate objects, for no real reason.

The show was SO, SO bad, I didn't even have to TOUCH it to get herpes. I didn't even have to watch the entire episode, 3/4 of it was enough to nearly kill me.

I liked Voyagers Finale. Other than that, it wasn't that great. Gave me my "Trek Fix" though. Of all the Treks, Voyager was probably the worst.

I personally like DS9. I think more people would have but it didn't get a good time slot. It played at 11PM over here. I'm finally getting to watch it on Spike!

I really like Babylon 5. Seasons 1-4 were great. It should have ended there. Straczynski wrote the first 4 seasons before they started season 1. Season 5 just didn't measure up....

Meh. I really only liked a couple of Trek shows, and that's it. It seems to me that almost all scifi shows on TV are doomed to be horrible, most of them being physically painful to watch they're so bad. :(

Star Trek: Enterprise, is way better than Voyager, posably even better than ST:TNG.
Enterprise is the worst Trek show ever made. Possibly one of the worst (scripted) TV shows made, period.

You, sir, require a severe blow to the head with a large, blunt object. ST:TNG > all.

Enterprise was comparable to watching a very obese man consume laxatives then spend 8 hours releasing waste.

What possessed you to watch a very obese man consume laxatives then spend 8 hours releasing waste in the first place?

I think Enterprise was very entertaining. And it had many aspects that made it better than the previous Treks. Things like realism. For example the battle tactics and skills of ground troops (those spec ops they carried with them). That group could have captured ST:TNG Enterprise singlehandedly. As a person with military training, their action wasn't painful to look at, as opposed to the ridiculous "action" in all the older ST series.

Perhaps Enterprise wasn't as shiny and naive as the older ST series, but it kind of reminded me of B5, and that's a huge compliment.

OK, here's me to the rescue to clear up this Trek mess. Yes, TNG > all other Trek. TOS is great too, but it lacked the characters and stuff TNG had and didn't last as long and most of the movies sucked in my book so it loses points and comes in second. Enterprise isn't a pile of ****. If you stuck it through and made it through the complete series, you'd probably agree it was ok. I for one loved it. Lassev got it right with the realism thing. Also, the third season with the Xindi plot was TV at its best. The Temperol Cold War with Silik and Daniels was interesting too. Voyager wasn't great, but it too didn't suck. I don't think it should have been as high as it was though. I liked most of the characters, and some of the episodes were amazing. Other than that it was so so. DS9? WGN aired that here and they suck; moving it from one timeslot to another. Never got into it. Didn't get a chance to know the characters or get the Bajoran/ Cardassian plot much. Love Worf and O'Brien just because they came on over from TNG.

Flash Gordon being on there is a great choice. While lousy to watch today for most people my age, I for one love it and am thankful George was clever enough to rip it off along with other stuff to make Star Wars :p

El Sitherino

Yes, but realism can only get you so far. Crappy stories and bad acting, in the end, made the series suck. Voyager was horrid, stories were crap, design was crap, pretty much everything about it sucked. DS9 was bad as well.

i agree, i can't believe they didn't even mention Red Dwarf.

but the new battle star episodes so deserved that high spot.

the last episode of season two! omg! i don't want to have to wait till january :(

Enterprise is the worst Trek show ever made. Possibly one of the worst (scripted) TV shows made, period.

i mean with a theme song as bad as what it had, i am really inclined to agree.

PS. Prime congrats on 6666 posts :D

That list sucks! Then again, I hate all internet lists, because they are always wrong.

Also, I CANNOT believe they left out "Friday The 13th, The Series".

Twilight Zone SHOULD have been number one, and Star Trek, is and always shall be a spin off of Forbidden Planet. Put that in your pipe and smoke it Gene!

Katarn07
09-27-2005, 12:39 AM
Star Trek a ripoff of Forbidden Planet you say? As Star Wars is a ripoff of Flash Gordon, and the original Battlestar a ripoff of Star Wars, and the new Battlestar inspired by that ripoff of a ripoff.... Everything is a ripoff of each other if you look at it that way. I saw that movie a long time ago. I had to be 5 at most. So I'm not one to agree or disagree with what you said, just saying that ripoffs aren't always a bad thing.

OK, perhaps I was too young to notice that Voyager was bad (the Hirogen rocked, wasn't too young to have misinterpereted that) but am old enough to stand behind what I say about Enterprise. The stories were good. They were all connected to one another quite well and got deep and complex the further into it the show got. The characters were nothing compared to TOS or TNG, but they did have some interesting ones nonetheless.

Oh, and I bought the new Battlestar Galactica. Watched the first real episode and loved it. I'm looking foward to watching the rest of these and now am gonna be pissed Sci Fi was moved to digital. I'm either gonna have to (A) convince my parents to upgrade or (B) just wait for the DVDs. Pff, who am I kidding? None of us watch that much TV. It'd be a big waste of money to switch to digital. Just gotta wait for that season 2 boxset I guess :(

Good call. I hate sitting in this chair and watching shows though. I did it for Enterprise and couldn't stand it. I also did it for Robot Chicken, but that show was 10 minutes long, not 40.

Anyone have any guess how long it'd take for season 2 to come out? I don't even think the season is over, but the next episode doesn't have an airdat until January. What's up with that? Sci Fi either has weird season scheduling or the site I read that on has a typo.

Anywho, I'm going to have to download season 2 after seeing the finale of season 1.

Galactica Boomer shot Adama; Roslin and Apollo are under arrest; the Ground Crew and Baltar are 'standed' on Kobol (well the Cylon threat was destroyed so a rescue mission shouldn't be too hard); Starbuck, Helo, and Caprica Boomer (pregnant?!) are 'stranded' on Caprica (once again, I can see how they may escape using the Raider Starbuck used to get there, but what are they gonna do with the pregnant Boomer?!)

All the episodes leave you wanting to see more, but that one was just too much. That show outdoes every tv action/ adventure/ drama I have ever seen. #1 show in my book. It's got action and adventure, great special effects and battles, great characters with complex stories to them, and some cool political views on stuff. I love it. I hear that Stargate Atlantis and Battlestar have been given the greenlight for a season after the current one running. That's great news for me. Can't wait to see more.

Is there a list? I can't be bothered going through all 50 one by one!(i'm lazy i know!)

Did someone say no farscape??? if thats true then this list deserves to burn up on re-entry. I think on balance I'd put farscape in the number one position, or at least the top three.

yeah, but everyones opinion on this list is different. and you can tell it was some damned trekkie who wrote the list.

Hmm gave in and span through the list.

The jetsons higher than futurama?!?

Stargate Atlantis *spits* even in the list, not least higher than Buffy????? wtf??!

Andromeda at 22??? That show stunk nearly as bad as Atlantis.

Dark Angel at 19?? That show was ok, but never more than a cheap buffy rip-off with a hot star.

Sliders at 10??? It wasn't bad, but no way was it 9 places better than Quantum Leap!!

SG-1 at 6????? *goes to prepare bomb*

No Farscape? Inconcievable!!!

Of the top of my Head:
1 - Star Trek (Original)
2 - Farscape
3 - Quantum Leap
4 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
5 - Firefly
6 - Babylon 5
7 - Battlestar (new)
8 - TNG
9 - Avengers
10 - Red Dwarf
11 - Dr Who
12 - Futurama

though that is a little biased towards modern shows as i wasn't around/have forgotten about some of the older ones.

They mention a lot of old obscure shows, but have some odd omissions. The Dead Zone, Birds of Prey, Once and Again, Red Dwarf, Odyssey 5, Alias, Angel etc..

Well, we all know you hate stargate in any form, but apart from that I agree with you, not having Farscape and Red Dwarf on the list was criminal.

It would be like having a list of the best ever films with out Star Wars in it somewhere

What a sad list. Personally, I would have placed these in the Top 10...

1. Babylon 5
2. The X-Files (the first 5 seasons)
3. Farscape
4. Dr. Who (the Tom Baker years)
5. The Twilight Zone
6. U.F.O.
7. Captain Scarlet
8. The Avengers
9. Star Trek (original series)
10. Red Dwarf

I view all of those as more intelligently written and executed than most of the other series in that list.
