Star Wars: Legacy of War (http://legacy.gamemod.net/) is an expansion mod that will add the New Republic, Imperial Remnant, Chiss, Yuuzhan Vong, and Galactic Alliance. In Single Player mode, the player will be able to traverse the entire Star Wars saga after Episode 6 and fight some of the greatest battles of all time. The campaign will be enhanced and added onto and as the game goes on, new faces will appear and new technology will be unlocked.

The first piece of Member-Only content is up in the forums for members to check out. We are also in need of skinners to skin these models, a few modelers to model units and infantry, such as a Yuuzhan Warrior or Imperial Dark Trooper, and concept artists to concept out how things will look for the Chiss. If you think you could help out, contact me, Juggernaut1985.

No ours is the A6, not the A5. Need to redo it anyway.

On a side note I posted some new on the site. I'll just quote it.

You're asking "Where is the new model?". This week there will not be one unfortunately because of things going on behind the scenes in preperation for the November update coming up in a few weeks.

What will be in the Update? I won't give too much away just yet but you could expect to see some more favorite units from Star Wars and we'll also be unveiling two new site features. What does this entail and what does it mean to you? You'll just have to wait and see but I suggest you register on the forum if you want to have a chance at it. If you're selected you will get a custom rank and be a part of a special group of the forum.

I know I'm being very vague but expect something good. I said two new features so even if you don't register on the forum you'll have a chance at the same thing but you'll have to use your mind to make the best of the situation.

Small Update:

Well we have been busy thee past few weeks. We have had 3 new people join us and we have been making many things. As you can see we have a new site for the mod. Its not as unorganized as the old one and is cleaner and even loads faster. There are many things to talk about though.

First of all in addition to Legacy of War we will be making a mini-mod called Star Wars: Road to Victory. This mini-mod will include all of the Ep 5 and Ep 6 things we were looking forward to in EaW but are not going to get. Units such as the B-Wing, TIE interceptor, ect. We will put these units in and also complete the camapign so you will be able to go all the way up to Ep 6. This mod is for those who generally do not like the Expanded Universe but still want to see Ep 5 and 6 in the game. This mod will be out before Legacy and also include a few ships such as the Lancer Frigate which were in service during that time period. If you don;t like the EU but still want to play through Ep 5 and 6 then this is for you.

http://legacy.gamemod.net/Images/renders/ATPTthumb.jpg (http://legacy.gamemod.net/Images/renders/AT-PT.jpg) http://legacy.gamemod.net/Images/renders/Interceptorthumb.jpg (http://legacy.gamemod.net/Images/renders/Interceptor.jpg) http://legacy.gamemod.net/Images/renders/K-Wingthumb.jpg (http://legacy.gamemod.net/Images/renders/K-Wing.jpg)

As you may have noticed we have been lacking in the showing of ground units. I'm pleased to say that we will now be showing more. What units could we possible be making? I know for one that there are many Dark Trooper fans out there =). You will see more ground units from now on. We are still in the process of making more units and have even now just begun to have the textured. The next update should be interesting indeed.

I would like to welcome three new members to the Legacy team. Eldor, Cubit, and Avace. Eldor has already shown himself to be a highly motivated individual with a good eye for detail. He will be doing some spaceships and later on he will be doing ground units. I know we haven't shown many if any at all of them but they are on the way. Cubit has also shown himself to be a highly motivated but is at the moment undergoing exams at university. We look forward to his work in the very near future. Avace is the first texture artist to join the team. Many thanks go to him for joining. He is currently texturing the TIE interceptor and from looking at his work on other projects I can say that it will be somehting to look forward to. He will also be texturing our other models as well so if you thought that we were putting in these ugly grey models into the game you can lay down your fear.

http://legacy.gamemod.net/Images/renders/VongTransportthumb.jpg (http://legacy.gamemod.net/Images/renders/VongTransport.jpg) http://legacy.gamemod.net/Images/renders/TIEPhantomthumb.jpg (http://legacy.gamemod.net/Images/renders/TIEPhantom.jpg) http://legacy.gamemod.net/Images/renders/VongWorldshipthumb.jpg (http://legacy.gamemod.net/Images/renders/VongWorldShip.jpg)

We will, sometime at the end of December and early January, start randomly selecting people from the forums to be Beta testers. Obviously you have to be a member of the forum to be picked, but the opportunity to be chosen is an interesting prospect. We will randomly select one person a month. If they decline the offer then we will pick another person. Beta slots or even the rare Alpha slot will be given away in this fashion. Sorry Staff you already have your slots ;).

http://legacy.gamemod.net/Images/renders/Scimitarthumb.jpg (http://legacy.gamemod.net/Images/renders/Scimitar.jpg)

Recently is was revealed by Delphi that heros can be brought back but at a price. The staff is debating the idea of making heros so they can die and stay dead. We would like to hear your thoughts on the matter and why you feel one way or the other. In the future we will have polls on the forums about particular issues and we would like you to give your thoughts. I'm also proud to announce that around early January we will have our first Mod Chat. This will be where you the fans can ask the team questions about the mod, all in real time. No list of questions. You'll hear more about this at the end of December.

What does the future hold? Does it hold B-Wings, yes. Expanded B-Wings, yes. What about Super Star Destroyers? ;) What about textured models? defiantly! I am thinking about purchasing a domain name for us so that will be interesting indeed. I'd also like you to turn your attention to EaWNexus (http://eawnexus.gamingsource.net/). This will become the premier source for modding knowledge. The site is still in its early stages. When the game is released there will be tutorials and scripts up for download to help aspiring modders. Legacy of War is on there so go stop by and register.

Erm....one *smart* question about this Legacy of War.

- Legacy of War is a mod (like an unofficial expansion pack) for EaW? It will need the EaW to be installed, it will expand EaW (not change it upside-down!) by adding new units, campaigns etc etc.....right?

Well, easy on the comments about this *smart* question people :)

The Moddb awards have started! I hope that anyone who can will vote for Legacy of War on Moddb here (http://mods.moddb.com/6249/). The results will be announced in January or February.

I'm also please to announce also that we have a new Staff Member: Admiral Mackay. He is a modeler, a texture artist, and a concept artist. We look forward to seeing how he does on the [edited]. Welcome to the team Admiral Mackay.

I guess I can't go away without telling a bit of information so here it is. On Dec 25 we will be posting the Super Star Destroyer Executor in the members only section of the forum. Everyone else will need to wait until January 2 to see it. Three days after the Executor is posted we will also be posting another model in the members only section. You'll like it.

Well its December 25th or Christmas Day. The Legacy of War Team wishes everyone a Merry Christmas. Enough of my babble though lets get on to the main event.

If you tried to click on the teaser pic you won't get anywhere. That being said, if you are a registered Legacy of War Forum member and go to the section just under the News you will find the topic that contains the Executor. This early treat is to show appreciation for those who took the time to register on the forum. In the future though, those who have taken the time to register will be rewarded with updates and renders not seen on the main page.

The January update will be on January first and second. Why do we need two days? Its a very large update. One day will be devoted to ground units while the other will be devoted to space units including the Executor. On the second we will show the first textured units including a recently done and textured TIE/D. The Dark Troopers are progressing nicely I might add. Phases 1 and 2 are done with Phase 3 being worked on.

Until then I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

This mod looks immense, and I shall be checking it out ASAP :)

Three questions at the moment.

1, Do you intend to re-scale any of the ships. If so, which do you feel should be made larger/smaller, and why?

2, In your mod, how much bigger is the Executor-class Super Star Destroyer than the Imperial-class Star Destroyer?

3, The Victory-class Star Destroyer is just that, so why is it classed as a medium cruiser in the demo? Will you be making it a capital ship and beefing it up a bit in Legacy of War?

Thanks :)

Juggernaut1985
02-06-2006, 01:26 PM
1. Yes ships will be scaled. Petro did a good job actually but there are some things that need to be tweaked.

2. the SSD will be what it should be. Big, lumbering and can't manuver well on the map.

3. Yes the Victory will be more powerful.

I will Answer your questions then:

1.Yes Our ships will be properly scaled. The SSD, Eclipse and Sovereign will be much larger than any other ship.

2.The SSD will be its 17.6km Canon Length.

3. The Victory will Be made more powerfull

I have a question about this mod, LOOKS GREAT BY THE WAY. As you all are going by canon, which is very good, it brings up a problem that I have always wondered about if a game was ever made with canon in mind, and that is, the Empire has such powerful machines of war and so many. In the books and such, the New Republic always wins simply because of a hero or marytr, some elite group like Rogue Squadron or Wraith Squadron or some stroke of luck. But in a computer game, unless you have a massive amount of heros and such, it would be very unbalanced infavor of the Empire. For sake of balance, how do you intend to balance things out. I know some will argue that lack of intelligence on the part of imperial commanders also played heavily, but again, that will be void when a human player is the empire. Just wondering. (I am a true star wars fan, who has been dorment for a few years, so if anything here is off or wrong, please forgive me, dont flame me :vsd:

02-07-2006, 03:08 PM
Yeah, I agree with the point mentioned. There are things in films that simply can not be emulated in games.

When do you intend to release the mod by the way, and how 'complete' will a first release be?

Juggernaut1985
02-07-2006, 05:16 PM
I have no release date in mind, its too early to even have a date. Not to mention real life likes to jerk us around.

How 'complete'? New Republic and Imperial Remnant factions for Multi and campaign. Ep5-Cloned Emperor expansion of the camapign. I know thats just a few words but when you look at that time there is alot of stuff to put in.
