My life before was forfeit, as I realize it was simply meaningless meandering and questionable actions. I had the heart of a heathen and the soul of the forever damned, cursed to the ever-encroaching blight of villany and deciet.

But now I found who I sought for so long, and my God has a name.

His name is Oblivion. (http://www.fileplanet.com/157380/150000/fileinfo/The-Elder-Scrolls-IV:-Oblivion-Gameplay-Footage-%5B20-Mins%5D)

It's not an exclusive, only for the paying members, you just need a general free membership.

Wow. It really looks like they have improved A LOT from Morrowind, which already was an excellent game.

Heh. The owner of the bookstore sure knew how to raise a dog...

Yup, can't wait for that one. I'll buy it for the pc though not for xbox because of the mods.

It does look great, but Morrowind was too open ended for me. If this one allows fans of that to still do that wandering around aimlessly business and people like me to enjoy... ya know, a story with some interesting characters and situations to interact with, then this game will rock.

Eh? Morrowind had a huge storyline. You probably just couldn't find the start of it, lol. :D

it is very well hidden, but I rather liked the main story. It was pretty engaging, though it was really sweet that you didn't HAVE to follow it.

Well, the way how Morrowind followed the plot was quite different compared to NWN that I had played just before buying Morrowind. I admit it caused me some difficulties in the beginning. And indeed I had a bit too strong character when I finally found the actual plot... But it was great after I got used to it, and I won't mind Oblivion having a similar structure.

NWN was more confusing in its story line. It was so hard to under stand instructions for quests in NWN. But Morrowind was nice and open, and nothing was required. So that was nice.

Well since it isn't a launch title for 360, I don't mind not getting a 360 at lauch.

Ohh yea.

When I first saw they were doing Oblivon, I was very excited, but after I saw that video...*cries tears of joy*

And I can't help but laugh and point at the 360 users :p

Ahh... Pc pwns too hard.

I always hear about it's story, but why not present it to me right away? I got bored fast. And everyone had the same crap to say through text to me basically. I hear this one has a lot of recorded dialogue and even features Patrick Stewart. That's a step in the right direction. I also watched some vids; they looked pretty good.

Besides from looks, will the game be better this time? Or just more expansive?

They've implemented a new skill progression, instead either buying training from people, you just use whatever weapon or spell school you want to be good in, and over time you get higher and higher ranks in it.

The melee combat also changed, you weapon swings in the direction that you were moving in, and it will only hit if you actually see it hit on screen, instead of random misses or hits.

They obviously added a load of super cool physics, which Morrowind had none of ;P
And they added a new way to get quests, by you eavesdropping on other people conversations, you can get new quests, or by talking to random NPC's to get more info on those items.
The also added a 24 hour day for all the NPC's, and they actually work, sleep, drink, eat, and go about their business as a normal person would, like if they're hungry, they'd go find some food, maybe they'd steal it, or buy it from the merchant, they decide.

That's all I can think of right now, but you should check out www.elderscrolls.com for expanded info.

Oh yea, and the map is 16 square miles of explorable terrain ^^

They seem to be getting smaller with each episode, not bigger. But then they also get more detailed and less generic.

I was at the Morrowind forums for years before it was released, and the developers and kids there had some great ideas... it just seemed the final result was a bit lacking in terms of "life". It sounds like a lot of the cool features that were cut from morrowind are back in Oblivion. Hopefully this time it turns out as good as it sounds on paper...

but why not present it to me right away?
Cos then it would be like Fable or any other RPG... where you blast through the main story and then ignore all the side quests.

PS/ Its not really too hard to find the start of the story... :p

[edit] Did they put climbing back in and make burglary and pickpocketing more interesting. THe best bit in Daggerfall was climbing up huge towers to break in to the upper story doors, and being able to run accross entire cities from roof to roof using the good old Theive's Highway. Morrowind seemed to cut down on a lot of that fun stuff in favour of spiffier graphics.

I know plenty of people who couldn't find the story. I started working for the Guilds and stuff but that's about it. It got repetitious and down right stupid at times.

Upon finishing your character creation, you'll be prompted to visit Sellus
Gravius on your way out. Do so, and he'll take your identification. Ask him
about Morrowind (click the blue link in the dialog box), and he'll give you a
brief spiel, so ask him about your duties. You are now in the main quest.

That said, I agree it was repetetive at times.. but its kind of a sandbox game that allows you to do whatever you want, and make up your own adventures.

I just think it needed to be more "reactive" so that when you did something it seemed to have more of an effect.

I also wish it would have had more ways to play the guilds off against each other, as they were such a major part of the game.

I think that for oblivion they shouldn't have a main story... they should have 4 or 5 interlocking major storylines that you can become involved in. Maybe with different guilds or factions. It might be that at one point you might find that you couldn't progress the storyline you were following without advancing one of the other storylines. (a pretty good hint would be needed to be safe though).

The Fighters and Mages guild quests are really dumb, but the good ones come from the Morang Tong and the Thieves guild quests >:-D

Pashaw. It looks freaking awesome
The new one looks ALOT better than the old morrowind. I am actually playing the old ones right now, big improvement on the graphics. I about pissed when I saw my face... yeah the graphics are what is making me really happy, since I am not that hard core I don't have a lot to say 'cept I cant wait.
