View Full Version : A Mildly Depressing Note for Meatgrinder Lovers (wait, we're back!)
10-12-2005, 06:50 PM
...Yeah. It appears that EscapedTurkey (the generous hosts of the server, and no I am not being sarcastic) switched the server to an AMD processor. Unfortunately, Razor didn't know that he had to tell EscapedTurkey about his server account so they could convert it for him, and hence the server is down until he presumably does so and reinstates the configurations.
10-12-2005, 07:47 PM
The two servers I play at (see my sig) are both down. I'm lost without them. ;_;
10-12-2005, 07:52 PM
Hmm.. I think both are EscapedTurkey servers... So that may be an explanation.
10-12-2005, 10:15 PM
*SIGH* oh well. I guess I'll wait a while.
(Played their under the SN "Shukrallah")
I also play in Blisterhouse (No RULEZ! like meatgrinder... tough crowd)
10-13-2005, 12:08 AM
Glad to see others are following our lead, but I'm gonna miss the 'grinder until RazorAce sees this!
Good luck man... we're counting on you!
Edit: Sounds like blisterhouse isn't exactly like us, but oh well, no rules is a good start. ;)
Razor told me he'd "get right on it" with regards to bringing the server back.
10-13-2005, 03:44 PM
Yeah, ET is on the case. Hopefully the server will be back online soon.
10-13-2005, 05:12 PM
If you lost the configuration file, I have it, as does Kurg. But only linuxserver.cfg...
10-13-2005, 08:20 PM
I believe I personally have the other .cfg files.
10-13-2005, 09:23 PM
Well... it ain't OJP on the Meatgrinder... but you're all welcome to Disruptor Instagib CTF with us in the mean time....
10-14-2005, 09:52 PM
The beta server is back and is supposed to be faster than ever. The new IP is 188.8.131.52. Enjoy!
10-14-2005, 10:20 PM
Edit: Sounds like blisterhouse isn't exactly like us, but oh well, no rules is a good start.
What do you mean? It seems to more of a hardcore gun server. Its easy to get pwned their... :-\
Anyways, its good to know meatgrinder is up again, and better than ever! :D
10-14-2005, 11:47 PM
What I mean is, I got the impression that it was a server that doesn't insist on "honorz" rules, and kick/ban people for chat killing or winning, etc ("no rules"). If that's wrong, I stand corrected, I have never visited this place, only going by what I've been told by people here. ;)
Do they ban the use of sabers or kick people for using sabers? If not, then I don't see what the difference is. I'm told they changed the game speed and force regentime, but otherwise they sound very similar to use. Though if they don't have OJP running, there's no way they can be using Jedi Master or Holocron regularly like we do.
10-15-2005, 12:06 AM
It's not that... It's just an eyesore due to fast force regen and weirdly increased walk/run speed.
10-15-2005, 12:20 AM
Well that certainly radically changes gameplay, I'll grant you that.
I wonder what the new settings are they use? Fast Force Regen just encourages spamming, but faster speed could be intersting, if it's not overdone, though again, it's not basejka.
10-15-2005, 01:04 AM
Fear no longer! It's up and running and people are playing... WOOHOO!
Thanks RazorAce (http://ojp.jediknight.net), EscapedTurkey (http://www.escapedturkey.com)! ;)
10-15-2005, 08:31 AM
Nah, they don't kick you for that stuff. Most of the time if you start spamming you get blasted... Katas don't work to well.
Truthfully I never noticed...
10-15-2005, 12:48 PM
Hmm, I can see sabers through walls on Meatgrinder. Looks strange. >_>
10-15-2005, 06:27 PM
Sabers through walls? Explain. I have no such glitch on my end.
You using a wall hack or some conflicting mod that's causing it?
Do you experience this on other servers with the same maps?
10-15-2005, 08:13 PM
OJP does it. I can't find any files that conflict with it, but the saber textures get messed up.
10-15-2005, 08:57 PM
Oh, it's probably a saber hilt or saber blade file that you got hiding somewhere. If you could id the names of the files that are conflicting, I could rename them for OJP.
10-16-2005, 02:51 PM
The server seems to have gone again.
10-16-2005, 03:22 PM
crap. I'm looking into it.
10-16-2005, 03:30 PM
And funnily enough, so has the other server I play on. Again. >_>
10-16-2005, 05:37 PM
If it's connected with Escaped Turkey then that makes perfect sense. If they are having problems with their service, likely all customers are affected (at least with regards to JA servers).
10-16-2005, 05:41 PM
Btw, check the server... I think it's coming back up (4:49pm CST).
10-16-2005, 05:57 PM
Okay, it's back! So far, so good! ;)
10-16-2005, 08:34 PM
Indeed... my clan servers (on these new "faster, more stable, platinum plated, made of solid gold, raid equiped, billion gigahertz, orgasm machines) have been offline more in the last week than the entire YEAR before before this IP/machine switchover.
I hope they get all this ironed out.
10-18-2005, 02:43 AM
...Yeah. Le Grindor is dead again.
10-18-2005, 04:21 AM
crap, I'll look into it. Probably just baby step problems for the new system.
10-21-2005, 03:58 PM
Looks like the server is doing fine (http://strategy.jediknight.net/jka/server_status.shtml) for now!
